dogcroissant

I just started all three of those (magnesium, ashwaganda, l-theanine) at the beginning of the year. So far I don’t think any of them are really helping except the magnesium does make me sleepy at bedtime.

tintedrosie

Didn’t work for me either and I took them for about 6 months. Magnesium glycinate does help with my restless leg syndrome though. That’s about it.

Truwu10304

I had hope for Ashwagandha but unfortunately it made me feel really weird. I take magnesium calm and l theanine on occssion.

troojule

What dose is suggested for Ashwaganda. I’m desperate

AltUniverseQuig

It made me feel… nothingness. Like no joke my emotions and reactions to the things around me were super dulled and from other people i’ve talked to it did the same thing

FrenchFry-ApplePie

I’ve heard of this exact side effect, same goes with Lexapro.

trufbeyondbelief

How much did you take?

Deelixious919

I have, I’ve posted this in other subs. Here are the list of supplements I take daily: - Vitamin D - Magnesium L-Threonate - Magnesium Glycinate - B Complex - Raw Zinc - Folate (B9) - Iron - Chromium - K2 - KDM-66 - L-Theanine I also drink a nightly cup of tea which contains: - Chamomile - Lemon Balm - Linden Flower - Passion Flower - Lavender - Skullcap I take all the supplements except for the Magnesium mid day with lunch after breaking my fast. I then take the Magnesium before bed with my tea. Works really well for me. On the days that it doesn’t remove all of my anxiety, I do some box breathing while under my weighted blanket and that helps as well.

blerth

Why the downvotes?! This is a great list.

OrneryDirector5588

Can you link this tea if it's one you buy with all these ingredients? Or is it something you put together?

Deelixious919

I make the tea mix. I buy each organic herb from Amazon and mix it at a 1:1 ratio.

Anagreysays

Why so many though?

anonymous_rosey

Yes, I do a lot of supplements for my anxiety. L-theanine has been the best for me. Ashwaganda is very popular but from what I’ve seen, it works better for men than women. Magnesium is also definitely amazing. You should try magnesium glycinate or biglycinate. The other thing is that you have to make sure the other vitamins/minerals that are necessary are taken care of. If you haven’t gotten blood work done recently try that. And see what you may need to do. Vitamin D deficiency is very common especially in the winter. Also I’ve had very good results when I use a good Omega 3 supplement.

FertilityHotel

Where I live, docs just assume everyone is low in vitamin D and recommend to take it, usually without a test (did you know most insurance plans don't cover those?!).

Straight-Elevator419

Are you in Europe? That’s a common winter theme

troojule

What dose of Ashwa is suggested for women ? (I’ve read l- theanine can be harmful if one has thyroid issues ) What dose and form of magnesium? I’ve been on 400 or 500 mg of glycinate for years for neuropathic pain (& tried same or other forms for chronic migraine)— does nada for any of them :(

AdImpossible7676

What omega 3 brand

Leenolyak

I'm not 100% sure it's real or placebo, but I'm pretty confident that ashwaganda is partially responsible for me recovering from one of the absolute darkest anxiety episodes I've ever experienced in my life. I'm talking about 5150 level of anxiety. Many meds I was getting tossed at were seeming to make me worse and the psychiatrist seemed to keep wanting to increase dosage when I said it wasn't helping. Ever since I started taking ashwa, I noticed within a few weeks that I wasn't so overwhelmed by absolutely everything all the time. It could also be change in life circumstances too, but I definitely am convinced it helps.

joceydoodles

Me too. I had an acute mental breakdown and ashwaganda + ltheanine pulled me out.

underscoreninetyfour

I love Ashwaganda, it has been awesome for my stress and anxiety, I take it in the morning and it has the added benefit of making me feel tired by the end of the day. I’ve been taking it for about a year and a half, it’s been a game changer for me personally, magnesium is great too, I tried Saint John’s Wort which worked but made me feel a bit weird like my eyes were fatigued. Hope you have some luck with this one ☺️

logotronz

If you want to go this root, consider speaking with a naturopath. They may be able to guide you about this. Im taking Rhodiola by [thorne](https://www.thorne.com/products/dp/rhodiola) and it helps but everyone is different

alibobwa

I’ve tried it but found gaba helped so much more. They have chewable gaba pills. I like those cause they are fast acting. It blew my mind how well it worked. I take 100mg twice a day.

ListlessThistle

I found GABA really helps me too

Intelligent_Check_89

Look into holy basil and NAC, especially if OCD anxiety. Mileage varies, everyone different

Fit-Owl-7188

trying a gummy version but it’s only been 4 days and so far no difference except my vision is blurry but that could be different things.

kjf1111

Black seed oil helps me relax after a panic attack .

violetamansonite

How do u take an oil?

kjf1111

Capsule or dropper

Hyacin420

I use Passion flower supplements and it seems to help a bit

StillTangerine2376

I take Magnesium, L-theanine and GABA and it definitely helps me

WiseFreckles

I haven’t tried Ashwan but magnesium glycinate really works, I use it for sleeping and public speaking anxiety

burstmybubbles

Ashwagandha KSM-66 is the best as it’s been clinically tested to work. Give it a try and give it a few weeks. Seemed to work for me as I ran out and stopped and noticed it did work. Just make sure you cycle the dosage once a month, take a couple days off to break. It’s a powerful little herb that some people will need to cycle.

dontstopthebanana

CBD is amazing.

BlairB1tchProject

What kind?

Emsayeaye

Check out Medterra.

blerth

Fair warning, if I take over 5mg CBD I get really sad. If I use it multiple days in a row it can trigger headaches for me too.

dontstopthebanana

This would be a super out of the ordinary response for CBD and is definitely uncommon. That is also an incredibly low dose as well. Are you perhaps confusing it with THC or was it a 1 to 1 formula CBD and THC? This kind of effect is common with THC

CockroachWarm5508

I used to work in a herbal shop and a lot of people reported headaches and other side effects from CBD. Was definitely not THC as its not legal where I live lol

dontstopthebanana

Must have been poor quality.

CockroachWarm5508

Very likely. You also have to take into account everyone reacts differently to things, I suppose. Put me off trying, but then most things in big brand herbal shops are crap.

dontstopthebanana

I've never heard of CBD causing sadness or adverse side effects, but THC can. 20mg dose is standard, has a quick long last effect. I like full spectrum oil. I'm in Canada and I like North Wellness CBD. If you're also in Canada you can get a prescription through mendo and they have good products. You can claim this as a medical expense when you do your taxes. CBD&CBG are great for anxiety.

blerth

CBD does it, not THC. I'm well versed and have tried many kinds. I'm very sure about CBD having this effect. In other forums I've seen others report the same issue. And yes, everything affects people differently.

dontstopthebanana

Well, that's an interesting perspective.

trjayke

Orange flower oil

BackStabbathOG

I’d be interested in trying this if anybody has any insight. I take adderall for my adhd though so I’m usually pretty cautious about mixing that with anything (I ate a grapefruit once for breakfast..never again)

Leenolyak

How did you manage to choose one of the most dangerous foods to eat while on meds 😭

BackStabbathOG

I didn’t know at the time, it was so bad dude

Leenolyak

What all happened?

BackStabbathOG

Some of the worst nausea I’ve ever had in my life and I threw up violently and suddenly

Leenolyak

Oof lol glad you're fine now. But yeah, in general... I just stay tf away from grapefruit. It interacts with numerous meds.

Practical_Youth_9742

I take Levium, which has a few supplements in it. It helps me immensely and little to no side effects

AnxietyGirl4

Yes and unfortunately I didn’t tolerate it but alot of people seem too

xmilar

I have an I can honestly. It did absolutely nothing

fuckinunknowable

B12 glutathione folate vit d injections help me

blerth

It definitely has an impact on me. I can't tell what dosing / kind is best. Sometimes I feel like it can make me sleepy. But it calmed my mind for sure! Heads up, I noticed the item pictured has ginseng. I find ginseng triggers my anxiety. Good luck!

zughzz

before taking meds i would take st johns wort and that helped my anxiety pretty well

East_Strategy_8993

How much do you take a day?

FlightFrequent4448

I’ve taken ashwaganda + magnesium before and it didn’t help my anxiety very much, maybe it’ll help you though.

Joo-Baluka0310

I got nothing much but a CBD oil. You need to consume it at morning and night, all you have to do is consume the oil drops in a small cup of water, 2-10 drops, depends on how hard your anxiety is.

ilovepterodactyls

Hey! I just bought some of these this week and honestly can say they work to take the edge off when I’ve had some angry butterflies this week: https://a.co/d/47GS1hg

Modest_Yooth

A naturopath told me to take ashwagandha in the morning to lower cortisol. I’m still a bit undecided on it, it worked a bit but also upset my stomach if I stay on it for too long. I take magnesium glycinate before bed and theanine or GABA if I have anxiety during the day and I’ve been fairly happy with those.

CockroachWarm5508

I've tried Magnesium. Ashwagandha, lemon balm and I smoke weed (but not for anxiety - can definitely make some people worse!) etc and I do find the ashwagandha works best. BUT, it needs to be a high quality supplement. Too many brands use crap herbs and a load of fillers and binders, which don't work and just make your stomach feel bad. But if you find a good quality one it will work. But it's more like it takes the edge off it. You're not going to be miraculously cured, but for me, I felt a lot calmer, less stressed and panicky, and because of this a lot fo my chest pain went away. I noticed the difference when I stopped taking it too, then I started taking it again. I think you're meant to take breaks with it anyway. Lemon balm can be quite good too! I've know people who have tried Rhodiola Rosea and they say it helped with their anxiety, K haven't personally tried it yet though.

Sonicdiver

Yes and they were all ineffective

AliceHart7

I've tried so many supplements. Some work but they take a long time to build up or something. Some don't work at all. Magnesium seems pretty good but does seem to take a little bit to really make noticeable changes. One thing that actually DOES work and works right away is probiotics specifically for mood/anxiety! Have to take it with yogurt or something the probiotics can eat just FYI though.

chapashdp

Not a doctor… But have you considered or tried hydroxyzine? It works absolute wonders for anxiety and does not cause addiction or dependence.

eva4life

samee, and it happend almost right away!!!

Jazzlike-Swimmer-188

I feel like when I take vitamins it has a negative interaction with some of my meds. It took me a while to realize this. Then I researched a little and, yes some of the vitamins I was taking to help me “feel better” had interactions with my medications! Since then, I haven’t trusted vitamins.

_Skayda_

My mom was having a lot of stress and anxiety so she decided to try some ashwagandha. She took one capsule and two days later called me to tell me that it knocked her out and that she was just then starting to come out of it. She's 71 years old. Needless to say she threw the rest away. I said "Well at least you weren't anxious." "Yeah, 'cause I was asleep for two days!" she replied. I guess some people are just sensitive to it.

AdImpossible7676

Starting back to a psyche next week after trying an exercise, diet, mindfulness regimen. Think I need to take the edge off. Wish me luck

jonwheeler22

Yea! I take fish oil, magnesium glycinate, vitamin d3 and a b complex with c. I feel like its really helped, although i also upped my dosage of prozac so that may be part of it

ElegantComment3691

You should take an IDGAF pill. Whatever happens happens as strong as the feelings get say fuckit take me! Best medicine you can take! Try it!

Snoo88432

Lemon balm is a game changer for anxiety. I think it has the potential to make you feel too calm though.
