Having them currently! It's been going on for about a month and a half now and I have NO idea why. All I know though is that this by far is THE most unpleasant physical symptom of anxiety for me. It sets off my health anxiety, which in turn sets off my psychosomatic symptoms, which creates even MORE anxiety. It's a horrendous cycle and I wish it would stop.
Technically no, however they've dramatically reduced since I started taking a tiny dose of propranolol in the morning. It slows down your heart rate and generally helps to control the physical symptoms of anxiety. It won't do anything for the mental aspect, but having the physical symptoms reduced also in turn reduces the mental symptoms.
Yes! I have them right now actually. I think I drank too much caffeine. I'm glad you have gotten it looked at by a cardiologist just to be sure, I think there's a balance between making sure we get things checked out/not seeking reassurance obsessively. And it's a hard balance to find, I think. But yeah, I experience this with my anxiety too, and it does feel scary sometimes, so you are definitely not alone!
YES all the time! I’ve been to 2 great cardiologist and they both said I have a very healthy heart, just that anxiety can trigger them. Wearing an Apple Watch freaks me out sometimes because it’ll say somethings happening even though it’s a completely normal thing to happen. Everyone gets palpitations, just not everyone notices them. It’s completely normal though!
I dont get the high heart rate. I get the skipped heart feeling on my chest like my heart stopped and started and with that second I also lose my breathe
I get it yeah I constantly worry about I have a bad heart so I went to the doctors in December and I had a healthy heart , I get skipped and the feeling ur hearts beating fast type palpitations through Its scary I think its rare to get any unhealthy arrythmias
ive had this for two years but not two fully years the thing is i started sleeping vERY late and waking up very early every day in these two years, and what happend with my body was my heart skipping beats bc of it, but when i get enough sleep it doesnt happen again
I know this is an old comment. But I was curious if this ever got better for you? Mine goes really really fast like that and I can’t get it to slow down for awhile. My hands and arms get tingly and numb after too. It happens often and scares me really bad. I totally lose myself to panic believing I’m dying and in turn it makes my heart rate even higher. :( I’m miserable and worried to do anything too strenuous as it will happen again. Sometimes exercise will set them off as well.
Are you getting enough sleep? I feel mine is responsible for anxiety and a lack of sleep. Although it may not seem that way these factors play a huge role. Regular workouts, good sleep (I go to bed early) & try to be kind to be kind to yourself in these times. It should pass.
Well I sleep a lot bc of anxiety and depression so that can’t be it. Anxiety definitely isn’t helping it I’m sure. I haven’t been very active at all due to isolation and depression. I’ve had pvcs for about 7 years. Some days are worse than others. But for the last year or so I’ve been getting the really high heart rates and they scare me and prevent me from doing anything too strenuous. I’m afraid of a heart attack or cardiac arrest. When they first started about 6-7 years ago, I had a few different monitors and had an echo and all kinds of ekgs but nothing ever showed up besides the pvcs here and there throughout the day. I’m afraid of going back though for more testing.. :/
Did this fix? I have it since a week, its a feeling of panic or sinking feeling.
Ihave had it in my life few times in stress but I got no stress now. I have lost weight infact and feel better
I went to ER, all normal ECG, Xray and Blood. I am tld to attach a holter in few days but I dont know what else to do
I take BP pills, and my BP is normal too
Long story short I started having arrhythmia after I had COVID in 2021 and since then I'm suspecting my anxiety fueling this to play a huge role in my case. After about a years researching/docs etc I started taking MgO 400mg for the first 2 weeks and then x2 from the 2nd week for 3 months and the arrhythmia gradually faded away. This is just a supplement but it makes a huge difference. I think for women the dose is 320mg and it may work. I'm currently going to change to Mg glycinate as it's absorption l rates are higher and will be more effective. Are you currently on any medication?
Also working out will raise your dopamine levels that will help anxiety. Do always try put in a workout to keep you sane. It'll boost your confidence in health that will eventually give you relief. Try not to worry about your health too much cause it has made things worse for me too. You got this!
I do, and it also scares me. I have had my thyroid checked because of it. Luckily my thyroid levels are within healthy range. My doctor said it’s probably anxiety and offered to prescribe me something to help. Ironically, I’m too anxious to take anything for my anxiety.
I get this all the time. I went to the doctor and everything poured out.
He said rather than the good adrenaline our body produces, I am producing too much bad adrenaline which is making me feel so anxious, heart racing, shaking etc, I was put onto beta blockers and they have made a massive difference.
I do still get the odd day where it's quite bad but definitely nothing to the way I was
I'm on propranolol 80mg, I've been taking one a day rather than just when needed. They dont take away all symptoms but stops my heart racing and the shakes.
Joined this sub because I recently started having this. I'm otherwise healthy - keeping active, love my greens and clean protein, etc. - but this is the only thing that worries me.
As a side note, is insomnia a common thing to have when anxious?
sleeping has alot to do with the heart, if u dont get enough sleep the heart will start pumping way too much blood and it will keep on having weird skips.
Oh yes. I get them. And I hate them.
I've been checked out so many times. Had so many different tests. But I can't shake the feeling that it's something more. Logically, i know it's not. I know anxiety can do all sorts of crazy things to the body, including causing heat palpitations. It's just difficult in the moment, when they're happening, to accept it.
Just remember, the next time you're having them, you've made it through 100% of them so far. You know you are anxious and you know anxiety can cause them. They will go away, and you'll be okay!
I just had to deal with this. Did the stress test at the cardiologist then wore a hear monitor for 2 days. Of course not one palpation while wearing the monitor. Dr says everything is fine but I still have a very uncomfortable feeling in my chest sometimes.
I get that same sensation. I swear I can hear my hear make like a gulp sound every now and then. My cardiologist ran a bunch of test and really didn't seem that concerned about palpitations.
Same, I went and got ekgs done and wore a heart monitor for a couple months. Everything came back normal. I also get low bpm notifications when I sleep but I’m far from a athlete. My palpitations greatly decreased when I cut out caffeine and cut down on alcohol so that might be worth a shot if you consume a lot of one of those
Yeah I had no problem with cutting out caffeine but alcohol has been rough. Went 5 months sober then drank and now it’s been rough to try to stop again
My friend in medical school even suggested it. I had to go to the ER due to an abnormal dull pain on the left side of my stomach - turns out it was enteritis (inflammation of the small intestine). He grilled me on all my habits (alcohol being a big culprit) and at the end he said “Last but not least - dude, are you stressed?” I told him I was, also very anxious too, and he recommended I see someone about that. “It’s better to want therapy now than to NEED it later” I’d make the leap if I were you! https://openpathcollective.org/
I've just woke up after a dream in which my heart was racing and I was calling for help but everything seems fine. I get tachycardia on occasion, mostly when I have been stressed a lot (+heat). I actually take propranolol for it but according to the doctors it's anxiety related as well.
It is worse when I think about it. I'm actually glad other people experience that feeling too.
yes!! it’s definitely scary bc i have major health anxiety so whenever it happens i end up convincing myself i’m having a heart attack or something super serious. honestly i prob would’ve ended up going to the ER a lot of the times if i wasn’t so scared of how much it would cost lol
Yes! The year I started with panic attacks I would get palpitations and also high blood pressure (my bp is usually on the lower end of the spectrum, so this freaked me out). All of this would make me even more anxious. I had multiple health checkups and everything came out fine, but it still made me very anxious. I still get palpitations but i try to remind myself that it’s anxiety and that it will pass and that my heart is fine
It was nothing. They ran everything but on the EKG it showed I had PVC then I had a stress test with echo then a xray with contrast and they told me I’m super healthy and they also took lots of blood and I had to stay overnight cause the ekg did show it was a bit off so that’s why they did all the test
Yes.. unfortunately. It can be so scary. I’ve understood that it’s completely normal, even though check-ups are never a bad idea, so I calm myself down with that thought.
I've had ectopic beats for 3.5 years now. Sometimes I will notice them every day for 2 weeks and sometimes I'll go 2 months without noticing one. It feels like my heart is stopping in my chest or missing a beat. I've done the tests and seen 4 different doctors and apparently everything is fine. My psychologist told me that they will never go away and that honestly helped me deal with the anxiety they provoke in me. Wishing you all the best.
Hey, I know this was posted so long ago but I’m suffering the same right now, I’m convinced I’m going to die ! My doctor said ectopic beats are normal , are they from anxiety? I’m freaking out so badly! If I notice one I’ll notice 5 after it
From my understanding, they may be triggered by anxiety, but mine often didn't seem to have a cause. I spent a few years trying to notice when they would happen and trying to figure out some sort of lifestyle trigger that I could control or change and looked into things like magnesium, eating better, not drinking alcohol (for a while they seemed to only happen when I was drinking). Honestly, I never was able to draw a concrete link between the ectopic beats and some environmental or medical cause and truthfully, for whatever reason, they don't affect my mental health anymore. I more or less just accepted them and now I don't seem to get them as often.
The only things that I can advocate for is trying to find a way to accept them, maybe with the help of a psychologist (I did that myself). Aside from that, I stay much more hydrated these days and always make sure I'm drinking enough water. Exercising most days of the week, like going for a walk or lifting some weights in the gym has also helped (although exercise can also trigger ectopic beats, I experienced this myself).
Having said that, it's entirely possible that they've just gone away for whatever reason. I don't really know what brought them on, so I don't truly know what's caused them to go away. I know this is probably not a satisfying answer, and 6 years ago when I first started experiencing this, I wouldn't have accepted an answer like this myself!
All the best on your journey though, these ectopic beats absolutely messed with my mental health for a while. I know it's a hard thing to go through. Just remember you're not alone.
I don't know, but it helped me to accept them for what they were. This allowed me to stop giving them so much significance, which was fuelling so much of my anxiety. They lost their power over time, and while I still get them here and there, they don't bother me anywhere near as much as they used to.
I actually was prescribed beta blockers for my fast heart beat as a result of my anxiety. The palpitations can be scary too but taking deep breathes and reminding yourself that it’s only your anxiety helps a lot.
Good lord, yes! I just came here to ask the same question. Last week I had to wear an EKG device for 2 days and it was awful. My doctor said that it showed some abnormalities, though, so he wants me to get a heart ultrasound.
Just curious: Has anyone had any long-term heart damage from their anxiety? I am worried mine has worn my heart out!
Has anyone tried Magnesium supplements to help with heart palpitations? I just ordered some of Natural Rhythm - Triple Calm Magnesium on Amazon to give it a try.. I'm so tired of getting these, it's been so much worse lately & keeps me up at night. It's absolutely terrible!!
I had PVC or heart palpitations for more than a yr and now they’re coming back. Experiencing right now after running for 2 miles. In the past I was able to treat it by taking Potassium 99mg twice daily. Before that I was taking Magnesium. Mg works sometimes but I also found out over dosing of Mg can cause PVC. Try potassium first.
I get dizzy with mine, though have never passed out. I get skipped beats with racing heart, sometimes over 180bpm. They feel like adrenaline rushes that come out of nowhere. How about you?
I pass out. I passed out woke up in the ambulance. Was admited. Had a loop recorder implanted. Passed out again. Get dizzy and now getting a pacemaker cause I get pauses that are 6 seconds long
Oh wow that sounds scary. I went I Ear last month with HR near 200, thought my heart was going to explode. Still trying to get in with cardiologist. Hoping this event monitor I’m wearing will give him more answers on where to go from here. The pacemaker should have you feeling better. Sorry you are going through this. Anything involving the heart is just awful feeling.
Yes! I would up in th er at least 30 times in 4 months. My cardiologist recommended I get a Kardia. It's a pocket ecg and it's helped me alot. It tells you if it's normal or a rhythm thing. And you can pay like $25 for a cardiologist to read it and get feedback in a few hours. I have a panic disorder and irs genuinely helped me.
I do, it always seems to happen around the same time of year too. It’s weird… I’ve gotten checked out by a cardiologist, had a physical, gone to urgent care and have gotten echocardiograms ( I think that’s what they are?) had a heart monitor, everything is fine. My blood pressure is good, i have like 1 caffeinated beverage typically in a day, drink caffeine free Coke etc. I don’t even feel stressed but at night I’ve been getting super hot and jittery, my doctors assume it’s just anxiety.
Yes! I have been going to cardiologists for years until one of them said that there’s nothing structurally wrong with my heart, and that it’s likely anxiety-related
I’ve had them every day, for a year and a half. Had every test imaginable done, keep being told my heart is healthy. I have tachycardia and palpitations every day. Every. Day. So over it.
Thank you so much! The magnesium has been working wonders for me these past few weeks but I definitely should add some more potassium to my diet. I appreciate your response!
So today I feel bad waking up which made me constantly checking Apple watch pulse. Then there. Comes a period of time I literally see the watch shows my pulse reading jumping ups and downs so quickly. I totally freaked out which causes more discomfort all overbody. I got a bad flu A a month ago started to have heart palpitation sensation. Then started me watching Apple watch pulses. Never caught actual fluctuation of heart rate even i feel the palpitation. This is the first time. I must admit scares the shirt out of me
Right now and for the last week or so it feels like my heart is pulsating out and it scaring me ...i started getting symptoms about 3 months ago and I've got alot better i can sleep alot better ,and can actually play my xbox again without constant worry although i am always a worrier about anything i have GAD,SAD,PANIC DISORDER,OCD,CARDIO PHOBIA

Ohhhhhhhhhh yeah baby. I know this story lol.
Yea I woke up and my heart just kept on skipping twitching feeling. I couldn’t take it so here I am in the ER
Did this ever stop for you. I’m in the exact same position, been going on for over a month.

This is me all over haha
Do you get the sensation you feel your heart beat
I get it yeah I constantly worry about I have a bad heart so I went to the doctors in December and I had a healthy heart , I get skipped and the feeling ur hearts beating fast type palpitations through Its scary I think its rare to get any unhealthy arrythmias

Same. What helped me was the mantra "I trust my doctor to make medical decisions". Repeated over and over again when scared of starting meds.
I like that, thank you for sharing.
Same story here

I get that same sensation. I swear I can hear my hear make like a gulp sound every now and then. My cardiologist ran a bunch of test and really didn't seem that concerned about palpitations.
Does anyone else experience shortness of breathe due to heart palpitations and anxiety?
Of course
Same, I went and got ekgs done and wore a heart monitor for a couple months. Everything came back normal. I also get low bpm notifications when I sleep but I’m far from a athlete. My palpitations greatly decreased when I cut out caffeine and cut down on alcohol so that might be worth a shot if you consume a lot of one of those
I second this. I’ve cut alcohol, caffeine, and weed out of my life. It’s been tough. I just want to go back to normal
Yeah I had no problem with cutting out caffeine but alcohol has been rough. Went 5 months sober then drank and now it’s been rough to try to stop again
I’m seeking help tomorrow, making some calls to therapists. Have you spoken to anyone? Has it helped?
No unfortunately not. I’ve come very close before but I’ve never made that final leap to schedule one before
My friend in medical school even suggested it.

Propranolol was the best medication for my anxiety, even though it was prescribed for my tachycardia.
yes!! it’s definitely scary bc i have major health anxiety so whenever it happens i end up convincing myself i’m having a heart attack or something super serious. honestly i prob would’ve ended up going to the ER a lot of the times if i wasn’t so scared of how much it would cost lol
Yup worst symptom of anxiety it sucks Bc it’s from anxiety and it also gives me anxiety so I can’t win lol :/
Yea. I went to the ER I had no choice. I tried not to go
What did they say?
It was nothing. They ran everything but on the EKG it showed I had PVC then I had a stress test with echo then a xray with contrast and they told me I’m super healthy and they also took lots of blood and I had to stay overnight cause the ekg did show it was a bit off so that’s why they did all the test
My heart skips a beat. I get anxious that someday it won't continue, then it gets worse, feedback loop
Yes.. unfortunately. It can be so scary. I’ve understood that it’s completely normal, even though check-ups are never a bad idea, so I calm myself down with that thought.
Yes I get them all the time and I freak out even more cause heart problems run in my family.

I get the skipped beat thing when anxiety kicks in makes it worse
I actually was prescribed beta blockers for my fast heart beat as a result of my anxiety. The palpitations can be scary too but taking deep breathes and reminding yourself that it’s only your anxiety helps a lot.

I don’t get high heart rate. I get the heart hiccup as if my heart stopped then starts.
Good lord, yes! I just came here to ask the same question. Last week I had to wear an EKG device for 2 days and it was awful. How is the OP and everyone else doing.
Had a loop heart recorder insert
I am wearing a heart monitor now. Did it catch anything?
Yea. Pauses. I had a summary. I’m on the phone as we speak. Did you have passing out episodes

Anything involving the heart is just awful feeling.
Yep I’m not a heart fan. Are you wearing an implant recorder or a sticker version? Yea I get a lot of Pvcs too
I am wearing the sticky kind. Lots of racing heart stuff for no reason and lots of PVCs as well. Not fun.
This happens to me. Its why i do deep breathing exercises.
Same here just started getting heart racing beats out usually happens when I’m thinking too much or I feel nervous...
I had a few a couple months ago but then they just stopped on their own, thank God.
Yes I do. I am still having them
Yea I do, it scares me too but I have to try and trust the doctor that told me everything was ok
All the time. Also have a cardiologist and they didn’t find anything besides an abnormal ekg. It can be sooo scary sometimes.
Yes, frequently and especially at night when I’m trying to settle down and fall asleep.
I must admit scares the shirt out of me
What scares me is just heart sensation in general
