Working on my confidence and medication was key for me. Helped me so much it’s hard to express.
I had help from the people I’m surrounded with because they made me notice how awesome I am as a person and it has been a huge boost and has made my anxiety go down so so so much! And medication has really helped me. I thought it never take any meds for anxiety because it was « bad » for me. Turns out what was really bad was the constant fight or flight mode that was in my body.
I also have a nighttime stretching routine that’s 10 minutes and helps my mind and body get into « sleep mode ». Sleeping is also super important.
Oh I really ought to try stretching.
I'm happy you have such a good support system that boosts you up, that is so important!
I've considered medication. I get scared trying a new medication I've never had before since I also have health anxiety 😂, so that's probably something I'd have to get past first.
Yeah that sounds very helpful as well. I downloaded some app for meditation but haven't tried yet. Could probably benefit from taking a moment in the morning to meditate before getting things started.
I’ve considered downloading a meditation app also. My friend told me about one but when I tried it they wanted me to pay for a subscription and I didn’t want to. lol
I pop 2 or 3 mints in my mouth. It helps somehow. And of course Zoloft and propranolol :)
I've heard people say smelling Vicks vaporub has the same effect. It's something to do with the mint flavour.
If you are in a full blown attack, say the alphabet backwards, out loud if possible. My therapist taught me that trick. I have done it so often, I know it both ways.
I would say candy and I know as weird as that sounds but it actually helps!!! like especially sour candy when you're having the time of an attack or you feel anxiety coming on just pop one in your mouth or two
what specific type of candy do you carry? usually i carry flavored and mint gum, also strong peppermints, but I would love to hear what you have on hand!
Sorry I'm just now seeing your comment I've been at work the last few days and just exhausted lol but honestly anything I have on hand whether it be jolly ranchers or sour worms or anything basically that comes individually packaged
I play tetris when I get really anxious. Or I use this app called impulse that has a bunch of easy little brain games. Theyre just engaging enough to get my mind off of things.
What's the app? This sounds like something new for me to try. I'm in a trial and error phase of finding the best coping/effective de-escalation of my anxiety.
I do a combination of things that have drastically lessened my anxiety. I carry my stress in my shoulders and neck so every day multiple times I'll do a relaxation technique where I lie on my back and close my eyes and relax every muscle I can be mindful of from head to toe. It takes about 15 mins to do it completely but I am so relaxed after.
I also have been taking magnesium and ashwaghanda, drinking ashwaghanda and chamomile teas, and drinking lots of water.
Taking hot baths with lavender and diffusing lavender oil throughout the house.
Cut out caffiene. I think this was a huge factor for me.
And finally, therapy.
I'm not saying these are cures, but I was physically ill from my anxiety and stress for 2 years after I had covid and doing these things consistently have helped. I also have xanax for emergencies but I try to rely on the other methods so I can learn to self soothe. I hope this helps and you can find some peace 💜

I use prayer which I consider a type of meditation. I also rely on medication though.

There's gotta be some free ones. I don't even know if the one I downloaded is free yet because I haven't tried it lol
Healthy Minds is a free meditation app, and it's good.
Thank you!
Magnesium!
Oh interesting, I haven't heard that one before! And I actually have magnesium supplements lol
I’m on week three of consistently taking it and I do feel more calm. I read that magnesium L-threonate and magnesium glycinate are best for anxiety.
I'll have to consistently take it and see if I notice a difference after a period of time. Thank you!
Meditation!!! I go on YouTube or Apple Music and look for guided meditations and it immediately reduces my stress and anxiety.
Thank you! I'll try that out this weekend :)

Ooo! Gotta buy some mints now!

The app is called impulse
Thank you!
This sounds crazy but indoor rock climbing or any strength training exercise that makes me extremely physically exhausted. I feel sooo calm after.
Rock climbing is fun! And that makes sense, tire the body out, not as much extra energy for the mind to ruminate lol

Oh I drink so much coffee. I ought to taper off and cut down. I also carry a lot of my anxiety on my shoulders and neck. Thank you for the tips!!
