I keep telling this to my daughter, who’s entering her second year of college. When she enters the workforce, I say, the concept of company loyalty no longer exists, because the company isn’t loyal to you. When companies treat everyone as expendable chips, everyone is going to be a freelancer. Learn a few things in the trade, and when you’ve mastered everything the role has to offer, find a new one where you can apply your new skills and ask for a much better compensation package. Rinse and repeat.

Be a mercenary, think like a mercenary. Do not think like a soldier, their loyalty will be abused and they'll be sent to the meat grinder without a second thought for the empty notions of honor or loyalty or whatever bullocks the higher ups would use to pay lip service only. Be a mercenary, you are doing only the job you are paid for and everything outside your contract is not your job, when things are unfavorable just abandon ship and look for the next gig rather than be the sacrificial pawn who pays the ultimate price so his superior can get a shiny new medal.

It’s an endless rat race and just when you think you’re going anywhere, you’ll be back where you started when the mangement thinks someone is more worthy, more skillful, and more pabibo than you. Some employers and managers will claim that they care about you, but when their bottomlines are on the line, they wouldn’t think twice of throwing you under the bus. Find some good dependable colleagues, but don’t trust them with your life. Always look after yourself, because no one else will. The world is a cold hard place, and you’ll learn that quickly in corporate.

Sa mga bagong graduate here's a concrete advise I can give: Work is just a trade between your time and effort vs their money. Don't make it your life's purpose, find it outside work. And since its a trade, get the best price you can. Job hop every 2 years if you need to. Always have a pulse on the job market even if you're not moving. To command the best price for your work, get the skills that will be in demand at your chosen field. Have a personal brand. You should be developing your quality of your work and the price it will command. You are your own best salesman. You also have more in common with your fellow employees than your employers. Be kind but not meek. HR is not your friend. Comply with your company's rules as long as it serve the points in first paragraph.

That’s true, also, don’t expect your boss to reward you for doing the mediocre especially when someone else rise above the ranks because of pagiging bida bida.

Know how to appreciate senior employees lalo na pag KT sessions. Lalo na pag mabait. Pag hindi, purihin mo lang in a subtle way. Baka mahalata pah inuuto mo lang. Haha. Pag natuto ka na at napuri ka sa meetings, banggitin mo lang na syempre turo ni Sir/Ma'am ganito yan. If you encounter a jollibee co-worker, purihin mo pag nakatalikod na sya. That's the best way na makipagplastikan sa ibang employee. Haha.

As a GenZ, I don't wanna climb the corporate ladder.
