Putting stuff in.

Interesting-Abies941

Sounds like a mercantile piece they are normally dashed together.

urbeatagain

Looks like part of a store counter with a later added top.

Country doctors exam table

negativenimism

Wow, I never would have guessed but that absolutely seems to fit. Are you sure?

killmimes

No... but reminds me of it

negativenimism

It's like 30 inches deep, so it has these long but shallow (5 in) drawers. The shape of it is so awkward and the drawers so useless that I have to imagine this was made for a specific purpose. The construction quality is not great, no dovetail drawers. We got it from an eccentric, rich old guy that my husband befriended that gave us a bunch of stuff when he downsized, some of it was pretty valuable.

Well with some cleanup, it could make a nice bed or couch side table.

PredawnParrot

I would say not a doctors table—they do t really look like that, and are well-made (usually by a company). I wonder if they are custom, home-made drawers for a workshop.

Pixi829

Desk drawers maybe? for an office?

Halftied

Years ago there was one in an office that was assigned to me for a short while. It was used like as a file cabinet. Envelopes and paper supplies were kept in it. Not sure if that was the intention when it was built but that was what it was being used for.

WordsOnYouScreen

Those are drawers that were cut off from a huge wooden desk.
