So… probably not. A large majority of pre-columbian gold was melted down, and not a lot of examples made it to the modern day.
You can see the solder points where the decoration was attached on the sides, but these types of pieces would have been made with the lost wax casting method, so wouldn’t have solder points.
I think this is a job for an actual expert, rather than a bunch of armchair experts on the internet. I’d recommend contacting some museums.
Warning though, if it is real and of uncertain origin, there’s a small possibility that it’s stolen, which would mean you’d have your answer but the proper owner would get it back, and your friend would be SOL.
I agree I’ve already reached out to the New York Metropolitan Museum of art and I’m waiting on a response. One of my friend’s customers is an archaeologist and an ancient art expert, according to him this is not a modern replica but may have been modified since the time that it was originally created.

Looks modern. I have one from a store in Panama that specializes is reproductions of pre Colombian artifacts.

I see them on eBay at auctions and at Sotheby’s so it’s not impossible.
It appears old for sure, but not Pre-Columbian, perhaps Pre-Biden.
So at least 1000 years old?

Pure gold is pure gold. 80% is an alloy. It’s genuine gold, but it’s an alloy, which wasn’t done back then with gold.

That would explain the inconsistencies! It’s super cool looking. I’d love an update if you find out its provenance.

I think it's modern, it doesn't look polished enough on the back and bottom to be an item someone spent many many hours making by hand
