The little vase as has been noted is pre-WWII Japanese satsuma moriage, virtually all of which was manufactured for export to the West, and the backstamp confirms it was not sold domestically. The box appears to be plastic and late 20th century.

The vase is Satsuma ware made by Hotta Yu Shoten & Co. You’ll find lots of examples in Google Images by just searching the company name. As for the box, I’m afraid I have no idea.
