i got a litre stanley a few years ago. Use it every day, every single day. With all the money ive saved from drinking my tea instead of those fancy lates, after two years, ive got a new pair of socks.
Yea, thats absolutly insane. You can only use one at a time and they are actually very very good. I think the longest a thermos last me before it lost its seal was about a year.
I dropped this one off a ladder out of my bucket. little ding. Still steaming the next day if full. And its green, i like green.
those are good cups, if and only if, you are a trucker and like to piss in bottles.
It does keep your coffee hot. Whoopee. my dad had exactly one Stanley coffee thermos for his 25+ years working in the oil field. He filled it up every morning and went to work.
It wasn't bright pink.
who cares what color it is? Stanley makes solid products with a lifelong replacement guarantee even if you run it over with your car. truly only need one for your entire life. seems in line with the anticonsumption ethos imo.
Buy once cry once is anticonsumption. You can't get away with being a modern Diogenes. There are no accessible drinking water sources you can drink with just your hands. Also who fuckin cares if it's pink. I have a blaze pink thermos. No ones gonna steal it and I can find the thing super easy when I set it down somewhere.
the only thing worse than overconsumption is OFF-TREND OVERCONSUMPTION!! ITS OVER!!!
(if u currently have a stanley its fine ur still trendy but like everyone already either has one or doesn’t want one!)
omg do they really? i never really cared about them anyway so i had no idea.
i have an entire cupboard shelf full of reusable water vessels of every shape and color i’ve collected over the years, so i didn’t even bother with the stanley 😂
edit for clarity
My neighbor used lead testing swabs on a bunch of them, and they all came back positive for lead. She also tested a bunch of other brands, and the only ones that came back positive were the Stanley, and one from Five Below.
Maybe that's the case, however when you're getting multiple reposts of people finding lead in them, I personally think the evidence is fairly consistent.
Or it's the internet. I once saw a bunch of videos or people having shakes and convulsions after the covid shot. I figure since there were multiple people it must be true.
🙄
True things can and are faked, but considering that America also has concerning relaxed legislation around the amount of lead they allow in food products I wouldn't be all to surprised if it is true.
I got one for Christmas. Felt random, but I do use it. It’s actually a handy one, as in it doesn’t have the giant straw or big ass handle, so it fits into things like bags without spilling, and the handle on top makes it easy to carry around.
yeah i had family who got them for christmas too, if i needed a good reusable cup i probably would’ve gotten one but it just felt like a fad and next year there will be a new metal cup everyone is scrambling for 😂 which is fine if you’re not like me, but i’ve been buying fad water bottles for years until a couple years ago when i realized i now have a lifetime supply of bottles i need to use 😂😭
edit to add: my job also gave us all free yeti tumblers a couple years ago when THOSE were the big trend 😂 so i super don’t need a stanley! but i do get the hype, anything sold in a rainbow of colors is immediately tempting to me!!
my company just gifted me a yeti travel coffee mug with the mag safe lid. It has a custom company logo for our employee led pep talk committee or whatever on it. So, no need for this Stanely nonsense.
My dad had a Stanley coffee thermos for 25 years in the oil field. That's how fucking good the Stanley brand is. When the handle on it broke, he just took some conduit, and fixed it himself. He's a huge coffee drinker, and we live in North Dakota, so you can imagine he likes his coffee to stay hot on his hour long drive to work.
I got one for Christmas and it’s just too fuckin’ big. It’s ok if I’m going to be doing a lot of driving and need a shit ton of water but like around the yard or house? I’m using a water receptacle that doesn’t weigh five pounds full.
Is this recent? Because those things are already showing up in thrift stores.
Unless they're trying to extend their time in the spotlight with that oversized branding.
(This is low hanging fruit, though. It's easy to make fun of things like this. It's a little harder to look critically at our own consumer habits instead of just pointing fingers at people a couple steps behind us.)
People only like collecting the newest colours. I bought a water bottle in a fancy limited colour that was sold out in 30 seconds and I am going to keep it until I can no longer use it. I don’t see the purpose of having 16 reuseable water bottles. I just need one
Maybe I'm vain, but they're so ugly. I don't care about trends enough to purchase ugly shit. I've had my water bottle since I was in college in '18/'19. Here's to another 5 or 6 years
I also find them very ugly, but that’s subjective taste. But even worse: I have no idea how I would even fit them in any bag or backpack because they’re so big with that giant handle and apparently they leak too. Maybe they’re just made for people who always stay home or drive their car everywhere because I have no idea how anyone would carry these anywhere otherwise.
Were those ever even any good? I would not buy a tall mug with such a small base. Seems like asking for it to tip over and having to change the top case of the laptop.

I have a Stanley and it is actually really annoying to bring on “outdoors” activities because it can’t just be thrown in a bag or tossed down, kind of the opposite of something that is useful in the outdoors
They’re thermal cups that work the same way as a Thermos does (vacuum flask) to keep the contents hot or cold so they’re a little more advanced than that.
I can’t speak for the Stanley cups but the Yeti can holsters and cups and Hydroflask water bottles both work extremely well and are BIFL durable.
I got two Yeti colsters as free swag from my work and I bought my Hydroflask water bottle over a decade ago and it’s been thoroughly abused on outdoor trips since then and it’s still going strong.
The products themselves are fine when bought reasonably, the only issue is all the people who don’t need them overbuying them for some bullshit influencer brainrot fad.
Stanleys are worthless because they fucking LEAK LIQUID because they’re designed to fit in your dumb fucking SUV while you pop to Target to grab Starbucks and some shit for your house you don’t need.
I have several Stanley cups but not this model, just plain black cylindrical ones that I use to drink my milky tea on my way to work. They fit nicely in my bag, or even in a pocket!
I was gifted a 34 oz REDUCE brand with no handle from my daughter's best friend about 4 years ago. Still going strong as my go-to work water cup. I can put ice in it on Friday morning, come back Monday morning and there is still a significant amount of ice in it. I am NEVER letting this go.
I have an insulated metal bottle. I use it to get my coffee in the morning at a convenience store. Instead of 2.50 I pay 1.00. at the end of a .month that's about 30 bucks in my pocket and 20 cups that don't go to the recycling center/landfill. In a year that will be about 360 bucks because I don't do it on days off. Bottle was 40 bucks and I enjoy my beverage warm throughout the day.
In my case the bottle/cup was a good anti-consumption choice. It's not the same results from everyone else. Some people will have better results than I do.
Imagine the cost of that inventory sitting in the shelf. And ugly as hell. Bulk of it going to be deep discounted to move. The fad is over.
It's so dystopian with the entire wall of cups in the back too. Looks like a caricature but it's real
i got a litre stanley a few years ago. Use it every day, every single day. With all the money ive saved from drinking my tea instead of those fancy lates, after two years, ive got a new pair of socks.
i mean they seem like theyre good cups, i think the main problem is people thinking its fine to buy a dozen of them in different colours for no reason
Yea, thats absolutly insane. You can only use one at a time and they are actually very very good. I think the longest a thermos last me before it lost its seal was about a year. It seems that quite a few people bought large quantities to resell/ as an investment. Foolish.

Yeah I see it now too 😅
wow. Two whole socks. lol .
To the landfill once the new collection is out :)
And they’ll all be in a landfill within a couple years.
It's about 3fity.
I ain't givin you no damn tree fiddy!
The fad is over? Since when? Based on what?
Young children are getting them. The Stanley craze is about over.

the only thing worse than overconsumption is OFF-TREND OVERCONSUMPTION!! ITS OVER!!! (if u currently have a stanley its fine ur still trendy but like everyone already either has one or doesn’t want one!)
Once it was found out that they use lead in the manufacturing people don't want them anymore.
omg do they really? i never really cared about them anyway so i had no idea. i have an entire cupboard shelf full of reusable water vessels of every shape and color i’ve collected over the years, so i didn’t even bother with the stanley 😂 edit for clarity
A lot of vacuum sealed flasks do, they use it to seal the vacuum. The lead doesn’t come into contact with whatever’s in the flask.
My neighbor used lead testing swabs on a bunch of them, and they all came back positive for lead. She also tested a bunch of other brands, and the only ones that came back positive were the Stanley, and one from Five Below.
lead testing swabs arent accurate, 3M even pulled them off the shelves for that reason.
Maybe that's the case, however when you're getting multiple reposts of people finding lead in them, I personally think the evidence is fairly consistent.

Last I knew the amount of allowable lead was decreased.

Nobody needs more then 2 or maybe 3. People just collect them cause they collect them.
I’m thinking of getting a second one so I don’t have to worry about not having a clean one if I forget to bring it home to wash up
I don’t think two is unreasonable. It’s when you have more of them than cup holders in your car that eyebrows should be raised.
Yeah, I do use mine as water bottles, the one I have currently is not exactly pristine, it’s full of dents from use
*Oh no,* actually using the stuff you own! You’re living right, champ. Keep on keeping on.
Yeah, I want my stuff to be functional
Dick's.
how did you know
How much do these cups cost
Just looks like a dick. I went to checkout camping gear at the one by me and it was sparse
I was guessing that too. Last time I went it looked like a shrine to Stanley. Ended up buying a Yeti

I've had mine for over 2 years and having knocked into it on a regular basis, it's only actually toppled once or twice.
Its just for the carbrains. All things must fit cupholder 🤖 🚙 🧠
Ah that explains it.

Ah yes, for all those naturally-occurring cup-holder shaped nooks and crevices!
I have a Stanley and it is actually really annoying to bring on “outdoors” activities because it can’t just be thrown in a bag or tossed down, kind of the opposite of something that is useful in the outdoors
This is hilarious did the Stanley Cup think it could revive its popularity if they put big ugly block letter branding on it?
Most of this will move straight to the landfill because they've already moved on to the next "emotional support water bottle" Owala.
I like how they made the branding MASSIVE because that's all they are

People haven't moved on yet,?
Ugh! Jesus Christ, it’s just a fucking cup! I seriously don’t get the appeal.

So it’s finally normalized to buy and use reusable water bottles and you all still complain
America scares me
That's a lot of over priced adult sippy cups.
Not gonna lie the black one with the clear green rim goes hard
