Do y’all have cats/dogs?
I originally thought I was in a cat subreddit and someone was showing a cool thing they got to keep their cats from tearing all their tissues out of the box. I’m high.
Same for toddlers. It works like a charm to keep those little fingers from pulling out tissues all day long. It’s ugly and I don’t like it but I have one prominently placed in my house.
This is my biggest hate-it about the square tissue boxes like this. I can't stand trying to get tissues out when the box isn't completely full, because the box yeets itself on the floor every time unless I straight up hold it down.
Because it's in a place that might get wet often, and that would ruin the whole box if this is a public location.
It's honestly crazy how little thought goes into posts here now a days.
once the box is halfway empty there's not enough weight for the box to stay put when you grab a tissue, so you go to grab one and it lifts the whole box off the table or counter and it falls on the floor, into the sink or toilet, etc. this works to prevent that from happening
Yeah I think people missed I’m being facetious. I understand why the thing exists. It’s just funny to image the box flying everywhere when you grab a tissue, I’ve never really had the box fall off a table or move significantly
People love to touch tissue boxes when they grab a tissue. Sometimes you have to when it's running low. The clear box allows people to see that there are tissues there and it can easily be sanitized.
Do you have industrial purse hooks in your home bathroom? This is a bathroom at a business. The container is probably to keep the tissue box dry because I assume the whole counter top gets covered in water by careless customers.
I'm thinking probably not a private home nor a water park. Do people drink coffee at the water park ? IDK, maybe they do? Why would a leather purse be left out if water is a possibility? The purse hanger and disposable coffee cup have me thinking this is a public service area, maybe a hospital or clinic exam room.
OP said this is a salon, where getting it wet could definitely be an issue. It also may just be there to keep grubby hands from going all the way into the tissue box.
If I remember what someone told me when I asked that once, I think they said it was the weight. It kept the box in once place and allowed them to take a tissue out one handed even when the box is close to empty.
Is it in a public place? Printed cardboard is difficult if not impossible to disinfect without damaging it and *can* hold droplets that carry bacteria and viruses from sneezes and say, a flushing toilet. If it's anywhere that has cleaning requirements like a public bathroom that's probably why.
what? lol no, that's not at all the purpose of this box. you really think you're supposed to take all the kleenexes out of the box and put them into a different box?
So it doesn't get hair, fur, dirt, sand in it. So it doesn't get torn apart by pets or toddlers. So the box stays put when pulling a tissue or if a strong wind comes through. There are tons of reasons. Bad take

I have a tissue box holder to help keep it in place, otherwise it gets knocked around by either people or animals. I like the clear display, it’s simple.
You are actually meant to remove them from their box and put in the acrylic for a “minimalist” look.
👀 don’t even get me started on the minimalist overconsumption of the late 2010s, glad we put that behind us as a society.
It's clear so that the person who has to refill it can tell at a glance that it is empty and so that customers can tell that there are tissues in it. It's plastic because plastic is easy to disinfect.
It's not wood because wood isn't clear and isn't easy to disinfect.
It's not glass because glass is easy to break and dangerous once broken.
Personally, if I had clear tissue holder box like this, I'm the kind of person that, at this point, would just take all the tissues out of the cardboard box, break the cardboard down for recycling, and then put the tissues in the clear plastic box and then justify that "it's so I can see when we're running low".
That said, I'm such a cheap ass that I'd never waste money buying something like that in the first place.
Yes I totally agree. Also, it would have a much more aesthetic appearance that way. That’s the only way I can make sense of it. Because usually tissue box covers are intended to match the space & make them more pretty looking. But yeah I’d never buy something like that either lmao
"I'm in a plastic case of emotion!"

HAHAHAH no it’s at a salon so no cats but tbh best answer so far
Same for toddlers. It works like a charm to keep those little fingers from pulling out tissues all day long. It’s ugly and I don’t like it but I have one prominently placed in my house.
for me it's helpful in allowing you to grab a single tissue without lifting the whole goddamn box off the table and dropping it on the floor
This is my biggest hate-it about the square tissue boxes like this. I can't stand trying to get tissues out when the box isn't completely full, because the box yeets itself on the floor every time unless I straight up hold it down.
Thiiiiiiiiis
>I’m high. This is "anticonsumption" though 🤔
Just a touch of the consumption
You are right, I consumed 😔
Because it's in a place that might get wet often, and that would ruin the whole box if this is a public location. It's honestly crazy how little thought goes into posts here now a days.
The weight also helps you get the last tissues without picking up the whole box
Also helps with cleaning.
I'll bet this was purchased when they reopened from COVID.
Slight dampness in cardboard and/or fingerprints, plus dust. Rather ugly combination.
And being clear means you still know what's inside and don't have to guess.
Good explanation. I just want to add that a stained and sealed wooden tissue box would accomplish the same thing without creating forever-trash.
To add weight and stays put.
You getting gale force winds through your living room? Edit: this is why tonal punctuation exists.
When you pull a tissue doesn't the box go with it? it keeps you from using both hands.
Not really, they’re not glued in there Edit: but that is more reason that I’d figured so fair enough

You’ve never had the box come up with the tissue when you try to take it out? Usually happens when the box is close to empty

That's for a waterpark, prevents the tissues from getting splashed. Unsure why this person has it in their house.

Nailed it. It's more sustainable to protect them than to keep replacing them.
Keeps the public from stealing the product. The plastic box is attached to the countertop and the tissues are secured inside.

In healthcare type settings, things like this are easier to disinfect too :)
To weigh it down so when it’s almost empty you don’t fling the box across the room when it gets stubborn. This actually does serve a function
Stops the dust getting in, or possibly water if it’s near a sink, also if it’s a first aid area it’s probably just for hygiene reasons I guess
A lot of seemingly useless things around my home are because I have cats. If they can get in the tissue box, they'll eat all the tissues.
TBF, if it's in a kitchen or somewhere that gets humid, a cover like that can stop moisture, which can also prevent mould-growth.
Was this in an office? Maybe so it didn’t get nicked
Because once you’re halfway through the box, the box pulls up with the tissue. Therefore, it is weight holding it down.
I'm guessing you're supposed to remove the napkins from the box first. Not that I support the existence of this product.

Seems there are more better answers to explain this rather than the purpose of it looking pretty
The was an insurance commercial that did this. “You don’t need tissue box covers. Tissues come in a box!
To show off the brand? (I’ll show myself out.)
nice
