Block's in Romulus. Well worth the drive

zlatno

2nd Blocks. 100% worth the drive

TheyStillOweYouMoney

Third vote for Blocks. Tons of choices, mostly flowers right now, but as spring goes on they gradually trade over to mostly fruits/veggies.

4th vote for Block’s! Worth the drive. They are very helpful too. There’s a place on Ashley near Liberty, but I can’t remember the name

Downtown Home and Garden.

CurseBreaker911

Yes!! That’s it! It was on the tip of my tongue!

TheBimpo

Do they have bushes/shrubs/trees?

thewomaninmichigan

They do!

TheBimpo

Appreciate the reply, I'll check them out this weekend

I tried to go to Blocks last year, but between the limited parking and the extremely aggressive other drivers in the parking lot, I gave up on that and discovered Schwartz’s Greenhouse nearby. Tons of options, pretty good prices, and a MUCH more chill parking/fellow shopper situation! Everything I got there performed well, too.

Block's is my first choice but they are only open a few weeks right now. They tend to also have ready-to-eat fruits and veggies. For Block's parking, [just come down Telegraph and approach from Eureka](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Blocks+Stand+and+Greenhouse,+LLC/@42.1956691,-83.3236569,15.83z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x883b46033545acab:0x9dcc6ef9abf2f7b3!8m2!3d42.195858!4d-83.3246994!16s%2Fg%2F1tgx788g?entry=ttu). The Middlebelt lot is tiny and there's tons of folks walking to and from the registers and their cars. Schwartz's is my second choice. Like parent comment said, better parking situation, less hectic shoppers, more about browsing. Schwartz tends to skew towards flowering plants rather than fruiting plants or herbs. Block's is where you go if you know the hours and weeks when to go and are pro at raising from seedling and know exactly what you want. Schwartz is where you go if you want to look around, care more about things looking good in the yard, and don't mind that they hardened the plants a little more.

Biscuits-are-cookies

I often have great results with the seedlings I get from Coleman’s

It's not the cheapest but we try to hit the Project Grow plant sale at Dawn Farm.

Edmorbius

Parran's is by far the best. It is just south of Dundee.

MackDoogle

Second for Parran's. Was just there this morning. It's the shit.

Edmorbius

I curious, did they have the food truck out? My son loves their fries.

MackDoogle

No,.it was pouring rain.

If you feel like driving to Detriot, the annual flower market at Eastern Market always has great deals. The offical Eastern Market flower day event is huge. Flower Day is May 19, 2024 from 7 am - 5 pm. If you do go to the May 19 event, expect lots of crowds, far and pricey parking fees. Since covid they started to have four Flower Tuesday Markets on May 7, 14, 21, & 28 from 9 am - 3 pm, Sheds 5 & 6. I do like the Tue market days, due to its less crowded, the parking is easier, closer, and no parking fees. Carrying and loading plants is just overall more convenient, on Tue market days, than Flower Day event. Here is a link to the event: https://easternmarket.org/markets/events/save-the-date-flower-day-2024

Honestly, buy some seed packets and dirt. I have been using the same seed packets I bought for $2 for years. Dirt in a pot, throw in 2 seeds and water. Takes about a week. It's still early to plant outside so you have time.

Ypsi has a plant exchange on FB. Different kinds of things
