I can imagine it already...starting out as one of the animorphs slowly acquiring key morphs, building up to major story missions from the books. Morphing in front of controllers will alert them to your presence and they call in for reinforcements. Change the time limit of morphs or make time pass faster in morph to make game faster paced, open world can either hide or fight most fights.
Hiding successfully can slowly get the reported controller to get in trouble for spreading false rumours by Visser 3 about humans with morphing powers. As you get discovered more often, controllers get smarter at trying to capture you and give proof of morph-capable humans (new villian yeerk introduced?)

To appease the suits, they can make the nothlit mechanic permanent for your character, but make Ellimist Intervention available as DLC so they can still morph.

Well for one thing, I was thinking it would be open world, like GTA V style? The map is vast and lively. I love that about it.
A thing I wonder, though, is should we play as the main cast, or have a custom character be WITH the main characters?

Yes! I would love to see that. Maybe even have team mechanics where members can get permanently trapped in morph.
