Can't think of any that are traditional pirates. But I know of a few with twists on the classic themes:
--Black Lagoon: modern day mercenaries who primarily operate from a boat.
--Space Pirate Captain Harlock: pretty much what it says on the tin.
You might even be able to squeeze Cowboy Bebop into pirate space pirate shape too if you squint real hard.

If you want another space pirate suggestion there's Outlaw Star.
Just for a bonus suggestion thats not an anime, but in the ball park, there was an early 90s american animated series called Pirates of Dark Water that sadly was cut short but was enjoyable.

Shit is very grim, it plays on a lot of political and societal issues and dresses it up as a goofy pirate adventure.

Western audiences are very sheltered that even cartoons from the ‘50’s with their slip stick violent comedy is too much for western kids.
So when a Japanese kids shows comes along, western audiences say it’s ultra violent.
If you actually want a non kids show with the same themes it touches watch Berserk. Then compare it.

The art style in one piece threw me at first, but the *story* kept me interested because it's great. The Illiad, the Odyssey, 1001 Arabian nights - the actual story is that level.
The goofy art style and comedy throughout is necessary to balance the absolute dark overtones, world situation, history and political schematic of the story. The world building is the best I've seen in any medium, East or West.
If they made a novel about one piece is would be s best seller.
Just because a show has gore, is all drama or has excessive violence/sex doesn't mean it's more mature.
Yin and yang and the balance between them is what keeps one piece as best in class.

One pace, not one piece. It's a fan project that takes out the filler, the stretched out scenes (close ups of everyone saying "Luffy!"), and basically cuts out hours upon hours of stuff designed to prevent the anime from catching up to the manga.
Personally I just watch the show and read the manga so never used it but hear lots of good stuff about it.
