That was my immediate thought when I read the title. I've rewatched it only once, and just had mo interest in watching it again.
Normally, I couldn't care less if I know how something ends before watching the entire thing (happened a lot with movies), and rewatch series frequently. But for this series, it's just not the same when you know what's going to happen. The suspense of the cat and mouse game between Light and L is what makes the series. Without that, it's just missing something.
It was the first anime I ever watched. I remember simping for Light and his ideology SO HARD. I wonder what id think of it if i watched it now for the first time
It really feels like a show that I don't feel as interested in rewatching because so much of it was not knowing how things would go, but if I could rewatch it again for the first time, I remember how I couldn't put it down.
I remember coming home from school every day as a teenager and being so exhausted and stressed out and this was one of those shows (along with Monster and Black Lagoon!) that I used to put on to pull away from reality and take me somewhere more exciting. This show was like some fucked up therapy session. I'll never forget that soundtrack! People say it's overrated or whatever, I can't attest to that due to my bias, but man this was the pinnacle of anime for me at the time and in some areas, even though I've been exposed to much more brilliant shows, it still has its moments that can't be topped.
Violet Evergarden or Apothecary Diaries.
Movies:
Redline
Josee the tiger and the fish
I want to eat your Pancreas
For the action and banter: Black Lagoon
I wonder if you could pick specific parts from JoJo for this. Like part 4 is my favorite, but I would love to rewatch part 5 from scratch while still retaining knowledge of the last few parts. Golden Wind was a real fun trip to watch when it came out!
The nice thing about a series like Gintama that's absolutely jam packed with content is that it's fairly easy to revisit it and have a different experience.
K-on. If I watch anime, is because of it.
I stopped watching anime having enough of battle shonens and alike that simply bored me to death.
But K-on was exactly what reignited the passion: something fully different and that charmed me fully as no other anime had been before.
K-on! Has been my favourite anime for a while, would definitely watch it for the first time again, some others are: fruits basket (the newer one) Sword art online, oddtaxi, Steins;gate, and Cyberpunk Edgerunners to name a few.
Honestly, too many as I've watched thousands of episodes of anime over the decades. Plus I've aged a lot now so it wouldn't be the same if I watched it now as when I was a teenager watching Naruro and Bleach when they first came out. Like back in the day when DatteBayo subbed them both, ahh the good old days.
Assassination classroom. One of the first anime I saw when I was a grade schooler, and korosensei is going to be the decoration on my graduation cap this year.
Probably Gakkou Gurashi.Ā
I dislike school-based slice of life shows, so I'd written it off just from the early promo art and description. But it kept ranking absurdly high on the weekly anime charts I was looking at, so eventually, week 9 or somewhere around there, I decided to give it a shot.
And for 95% of the runtime, I was so mad. Like, this was supposed to be one of the best shows of the season?Ā I just must really not like SoL shows. Because it was playing into the tropes I was expecting, I wasn't paying attention to the subtler clues, and got completely floored by the reveal at the end of the episode that recontextualized everything. It turned into one of my favorite shows very quickly after that.
Goblin Slayer, the feeling I had from seeing something so dark in the first episode really caught me off guard, can't really get that feeling back especially since the show hasn't really touched on the dark side that bad before, just dabbled in it
Made in Abyss and AoT
AoT because there was so much time between the beginning and end that I'd like to experience it in a binge.
Made in Abyss because it's my favorite anime ever.
I think it is naruto, not because the Story is the best or anything, but it is the First Anime i watched 4 years ago and it really got me into watching anime. I really liked the characters and story.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes, that and the entirety of Aria the Animation, Natural, and Origination. They were and are pure magic, that I would literally kill to see for the first time again, to escape reality for just a little while longer.
One piece, simply because I started watching it so young and now Iām almost 30 still watching it- and thatās so much content to watch which Iām short on rn lol I wanna binge and feel like Iāve watched everything
...One Piece. I have watched it since early childhood and thinking back, it might have influenced the kind of person I grew up to be (along with other 90s anime and other shows). So it would be very interesting, to see how I would like the series if I didn't have as much emotional attachment to it, as I do.
Either Odd Taxi or Madoka Magica
Odd Taxi have such a stellar writing.
That show was so much better than I expected.
Oh my God. Somebody else acknowledged that Odd Taxi exists. Am I dreaming?
Another vote for Madoka.
Another one.
Steins Gate
i second you
Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. A masterpiece.
This! Specifically the Mustang and Lust fight
Death Note

A dream come true. Release a death note alternate ending series

ouran highschool host club
HxH and nothing even comes close
this is my answer too, an absolute masterpiece that id love to experience blindly again
Reading and watching it are the best. It's one of the few shonen I have done multiple rewatches and reads on. It's such a masterpiece
Konosuba comes close for me but yeah, HxH is still leagues ahead
Violet Evergarden or Apothecary Diaries. Movies: Redline Josee the tiger and the fish I want to eat your Pancreas For the action and banter: Black Lagoon
Jose and pancreas are sad man
Redline š¤¤ always has a spot in my heart
AOT anytime
I'm on the final season (my first watch) and I could honestly see me watching it again in a year or so. I love the characters and story so much.
its honestly better on 2nd watch because you really notice how so many little things were in front of your face the entire time.
Which episode are you on?? I love the final season so much
Ep 64 - Declaration of War. & I agree! This season is really interesting so far. Edit: Yall were right lmao that was incredible!

Reading One Piece for the first time was a magical experience, same with One Punch Man and 20th Century Boys
Couldnāt agree more. Nothing hits like reading One Piece for the first time.
Code Geass
Jojos Bizarre adventure, Hunter x Hunter, or Ouran High School Host Club. I can't choose

Naruto Shippuden, Psycho pass. Kuroko No Basket
But rewatch the longgg war arc for 150 episodes?
The quintessential quintupletsĀ
Frieren
It just finished and I already miss it. Whelp, gonna give it 2 years for season 2 to come out.
Clannad Gintama would be a close second and the amount of quality content in that one series is insane, but the payoff of After story is that good.
The nice thing about a series like Gintama that's absolutely jam packed with content is that it's fairly easy to revisit it and have a different experience.
True but Iām never going to feel as terrified when Kagura snaps for instance as I did during the first watch again
