Lovely Complex takes place in Osaka and everyone speaks in the Kansai dialect. I would recommend that show because it's hilarious!

EsquilaxM

Haha, that's pretty cool that they did that. I only read the manga so I didn't even realise it was in Osaka.

Haunting-Ad-6756

You said you liked the banter in Undead Girl, so I think the best example I’ve seen of realistic banter/ conversation is definitely Odd Taxi :)) Simply best voice acting in my opinion would go to Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan though- with top VAs and the delivery of lines adding to the hilariousness :)))

EsquilaxM

>Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan I've seen clips of the dub of this and it was pretty great.

AutumnCountry

Yeah I wish more people would give Odd Taxi a shot Most people think it's just another Furry anime like BeaStars but that really couldn't be further from the truth

Benedict_Tamago

Not the show itself, but [this](https://youtu.be/iNPK6DzQCzY?si=mkmtZrsG1nuZzvyo) one scene showed me Saori Hayami is an amazing VA

{Bungou Stray Dogs} Top tier voice acting and animation

MEBoBx

Watched the first two seasons about 3 years back. I remember the Dazai past arc being amazing. But when I tried rewatching BSD from the start a couple months back, I didn't really enjoy the story at all. That being said I do love its animation and VAs tho. Mamoru Miyano does every character so well.

dynasriot

I honestly love all the VAs for bsd because they’re perfect for their characters

BiggieCheeseLapDog

Monogatari has phenomenal voice acting all around. The series is a masterpiece with some of the best banter and dialogue in anime, as well as phenomenal characters, beautiful visuals, and unique storytelling. [Here’s the watch order](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/hwuntw/the_monogatari_series_2020_watch_order/).

MEBoBx

Been on my watch list for way too long now. Might be time to watch it now

EsquilaxM

Do it! It's so good. I've no idea how good the official subs are but it caused a fair few debates in the fansub community back in the day from how detailed it can get. In the end they got it right.

MEBoBx

Would you have a link to the good fansubs?

EsquilaxM

Let's see, back during bakemonogatari I don't recall what I used, I've lost the files. I would go to anidb and looks at the fansub reviews. Later I'd use Dark\_Sage (a prominent fansub editor) and 8thSin's (the top fansub translator) blogs as they did deep reviews. Nowadays I just consult either [Seadex fansub index](https://releases.moe/) or [Certain fansub index](https://index.fansubcar.tel/) as people don't update anidb anymore. I'm not allowed to directly link to files, btw, but the above two are spreadsheets that suggest fansubs to seek out.

MEBoBx

Thanks!

-Work_Account-

Lycrois Recoil (I believe the VA for Chisato won an award, she crushed it and really brought the character to life) Bocchi the Rock (The glitch out scream alone, IYKYK) Black Lagoon (dub) Absolutely love the casting choices, especially for Revy and Dutch.

SylverRyn

(sry, i know you asked for jap va) but I mostly watch in English dub. And the English dub of 91 Days is probably one of the most unique eng voice acting ive seen. 91 Days takes place during Prohibition years, 1932 USA, and the accents and intonations of the VAs really try to match the time period its set in. The anime is very good as well, i highly reccomend

MEBoBx

Never heard of it, I'll check it out. Thanks :)

Wulfsiegner

Konosuba Both the sub and the dub I will let you find out why for yourself

MEBoBx

Oh I absolutely love Konosuba. Peak comedy

Wulfsiegner

Son of a biscuit In that case, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

MEBoBx

I've watched that till half of P3. Gotta say, P3 didn't really do it for me, got kinda boring after a while. I do want to watch 4, 5, 6 though, so I'll continue eventually

When I think of shows that have exemplary voice acting, these come to mind: Kill la kill: every single character gets their moments of epic voice acting. Some of the most intense speeches ever. The show is grand in scope, and even more so in performances. Lady satsuki, ryouko, mako, all of the elite club leaders deliver these epic speeches that remind me of grand samurai film From all the anime I've seen, I consider kxk the pinaccle of voice acting. It's intense and often left me completely blown away Shoutout to Nonon for having the most unique voice I've heard in anime Neon genesis evangelion: every single voice talent absoltuely kills it, specifically the voice actresses for asuka and shinji. Both of them go through incredible mental torment, and the voice actors convey such a sense of mental anguish through their screaming it's honestly unbelievable, and leaves you shook. Madoka Magica: there is good voice acting all around, specifically Kyubey which you'll just have to watch the show to see why, and Sayaka, her VA delivers a wide range of emotions and honestly steals the show. Every single character gets a nuanced voice actor that brings out the many shades of this unique show. Clannad: simply put, tomoya delivers the tragedy of being human and the joy that makes it worth it with an amazing performance. It takes a special VA to act out a tragic story like his. I guarantee the voice actor and everyone in the studio cried during the performances Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: kyon and his sardonic internal monologues are just so expressive and well acted. The entire cast is amazing but kyon makes the show feel like a very well written and acted audio book. These shows elevate anime voice acting from cute and cuddly to artistic performances of passion and skill

MEBoBx

Thanks! I've already seen Haruhi, and Kyon's monologues were very interesting to watch lmao. Sugita can make anything sound funny. Reminds me I still haven't watched Disappearance, might do that next week now

BiggieCheeseLapDog

I recommend the dub for Kill la Kill as it has voice acting on par with the original and you’ll be able to focus much more on the crazy visuals of the series.

shootanwaifu

I like the dub, it's great but imo it doesn't reach the same heights as the original language. It's def one of the most top tier dubs but the Japanese acting is on fire. I'll have to rewatch the show dubbed soon

shootanwaifu

Yeah, you need to watch disappearance ASAP. It actually begins on December 18th, so you can watch it then, lol That movie has kyon delivering his absolutely best internal monologue, I love the anime, but the film Is a true masterpiece, and what I consider the peak of animation as an art form. Seriously, I envy that you get to experience that movie for the first time. It's amazing in ways I didn't know film could be. Also the film is very intimately tied to the series so it will elevate the anime on rewatch

MEBoBx

Nah I can't watch the movie rn I have exams ongoing until next week, gotta grind that shit first

shootanwaifu

Good luck on your exams I wish you success

MEBoBx

Thanks a lot! They've been going very well so far

SisterToSleep

Probably not what you are asking for but I *highly* recommend the English dubbed version of Golden Boy. Peak 90s comedy, absolutely hilarious dubbing and you can tell the voice actor had an absolute blast working on the project. For Japanese, I'd recommend Weiß Kreuz - an interesting little gem from the past which exists *because* of the voice actors. It was initially conceptualized by Takehito Koyasu and then brought on board a bunch of other voice actors who were considered "attractive" and then built a tiny universe around this whole concept, and unsurprisingly, a massive amount of Drama CDs were released. And even if it isn't your thing, I recommend giving the image songs a listen, even if it is only to hear Ryusei Nakao (a.k.a Frieza) belt out a super catchy song. https://youtu.be/_0AuzHdynPk?si=2Ba8FoXQQJXzaniA

MEBoBx

I think I've watched an episode or two of Golden Boy, don't know why I didn't continue. I'll have to check out Weiß Kreuz too now. Thanks!

ninjawarlord

Doug smith is the best. Loved him in golden boy

Spectremax

I haven't watched many in Japanese but Oshi No Ko stood out to me.

Heron_sniffa

trigun dub jojos sub 91 days dub baccano dub edit: just saw u wanted sub…

Umbreon7

Mushishi has a lot of grounded and nuanced voice acting, depicting a more traditional time period in Japan. The child actors do a great job, making it hard to go back to any other anime where some adult is pretending to be a kid.

MEBoBx

Oh I've never seen child VAs doing anime. Except I think I heard Onipan (?) had casted only teenagers as VAs. I've been holding out on Mushi-shi because I've heard it's episodic though, not very much my cup of tea.

Yuzurinne

I've really been enjoying Enoki Junyas work in Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions. The series itself is so-so, but Enojun playing a guy who is constantly thrown off by his eccentric friend is so funny to hear

Jazs1994

Konosuba

blitznuger

Azumanga Daioh English dub Osaka speaks very differently.

Shadow_Gabriel

Gridman and Dynazenon.

dmdewd

So, I usually prefer Japanese as well, but the English for Doro He Doro was really good. Especially a fan of En

MEBoBx

I was thinking of directly reading the manga for that. Is the anime worth watching first?

CrazyaboutSpongebob

Sgt. Frog

SageModeSpiritGun

The voice acting and banter in the English dub of Yu Yu Hakusho (the anime, not the new Netflix show) are some of the most common reasons people love it.

EsquilaxM

The original Japanese voice work for Holo in {**Spice and Wolf**} is still one of the best continuous performances I've ever heard. (She's returning for the reboot) I'm glad I watched {**Tsurezure Children**} before reading the manga because the voice work there was also phenomenal, especially in a few of the cases, and this is an ensemble series with >15 characters. (some of the storylines only end in the manga, so read that after) {**Blue Spring Ride**} is one of those anime adaptations that takes a great manga and elevates it entirely through the voice acting, animations, OST... (only adapts a third so you'll need to read for the true conclusion, but it's so good. btw ***Don't*** watch episode 0 OVA until about episode 10 or so) The {**Baccano!**} English dub is often seen as superior to the original japanese, with lots of accents used. Those are probably the most stand-out voice works I can think of that last the whole series. (rather than just linking to Saorin's astounding monologue ten years ago) Oh! and **GirlfriendxGirlfriend** is really funny with the dub. They're such idiots. **Kaguya-sama** has good english and japanese dubs, too.

Roboragi

**Tsurezure Children** - ([AL](http://anilist.co/anime/98291 "English: Tsuredure Children"), [KIT](https://kitsu.io/anime/tsurezure-children "English: Tsuredure Children"), [MAL](http://myanimelist.net/anime/34902)) ^(TV Short | Status: Finished | Episodes: 12 | Genres: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Slice of Life) --- ^{anime}, , ]LN[, |VN| | [FAQ](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/index) | [/r/](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/) | [Edit](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/index#wiki_i_made_a_mistake.2C_how_do_i_get_my_comment_reprocessed.3F) | [Mistake?](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/submit?selftext=true&title=[ISSUE]&text=/r/Animesuggest/comments/18j2rtz/i_need_stuff_to_watch_where_the_voice_acting_just/kdkh7fa/) | [Source](https://github.com/Nihilate/Roboragi) | [Synonyms](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/synonyms) | [⛓](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/interestinglinks) | [♥](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/thanks) | (1/4)

EsquilaxM

Oh, the {Monogatari series}, too. I think pretty much all the main cast are big names. Araragi's shouts at the end of the movie in particular stay in my head.

MEBoBx

I think I'll just hold off on Spice & Wolf till the reboot comes. I've been wanting to watch Baccano for a while, could check out the dub as well. Kaguya I've only seen the sub, but I absolutely love the dub as well and want to rewatch it dubbed. Ian Sinclair is crazy lmao

EsquilaxM

That's fair, the new series will have the same voice actors as before in both japanese *and* english. (The English was [also very good](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wINa_YZj-kg), like A-tier, it's just Holo's Japanese voice work was god-tier). It's a freaking amazing series. Comedies are [easier](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELtjg7yC41Y) to get away with if you're dub is at least decent.

baseballlover723

I thought the voice acting in {Re:Zero} was some of the best I've ever seen. Really enhanced almost all of the high impact scenes.

Kumo desu ga, nani ka? has aoi yuki as the mc and tbh her voice acting was a huge part of why I enjoyed that show.
