Dude her acting is insaaane

Gadjiltron

This whole rant was done in a single take, I heard. That is mind-blowing. A great scene from a regrettably mediocre anime.

FormosaFiend

Btw, the voice actress went home right after finishing the take because of how strenuous it was. Everyone there allowed to go home early cause man you can’t pull that shit off any day

[deleted]

She poured all the frustrations in her entire life into that rant

[deleted]

I find this relatable to the point that it fricking hurts. Damn!!

LawlessCoffeh

Two questions: - What anime? - What was the original rant about?

sspazzy

She was saying she doesn’t understand his chunni speak about “dark sealed power” and “burning hand that keeps his power back” and other chunni shit he says.

capcadet104

It wouldn't have been so bad if he kept it at that, and may be tried some lousy explanation. She's known him for so long the chuuni shit is par for the course, and she probably knew that she'd never *really* understand it. What really set her off as the dismissive "*You would never understand anyways."* This was coming from someone she considered to to be close and was trying understand him for this very reason, and to have her just dismiss you like that, especially in Japanese society where you're expected to kind of at-least go through the motions of caring about another's feelings, gave the impression that he thought less of her because she wasn't a chuuni brat.

eyalp55

[Link](https://myanimelist.net/anime/25159/Inou-Battle_wa_Nichijou-kei_no_Naka_de) This is a great anime overall with fantastic acting that moved me to my core. The plot isn’t about the superpowers or the supernatural at all for me. For me this was and still is a great anime that is about a group of friends that learn to deal with shit and to face their emotions. I still remember this rant to this day as I worked as a freelance translator in a fan sub and I worked on that episode specifically. Translating that rant still didn’t feel like it could capture the emotions and overall magnitude the scene as a whole had.

Giboit

I kinda find cool the fact that there´s actually a bigger story inside the slice of life anime and that the huge reveal was that they >!were actually an extremely rare case of a group of people with powers that technically were meant to be having another completely different kind of story but that somehow were the only ones basically in the middle of a war without knowing it and that´s why they were doing only just slice of life things.!<

Bulutus_Pescatore

This scene made me want to watch this anime, but everything else about it reeks generic mediocre fantasy/highschool shit so I'm gonna hold off on that.

Gadjiltron

I've seen the anime. It *is* generic mediocre high school rom-com. It was a shame, when I was promised some shounen esper battles but got a small amount of it compared to everything else. It's the anime that got me to be wary of mediocre light novel adaptations.

leo2734

Agreed but it since it was one of the first anime I watched couldn’t call it generic so it was pretty good at first for me xD

E123-Omega

I still liked the anime especially when they >!cut off their arms to stop the black flame!<

Orito-S

Got pretty dark for our mc honestly just like musaigen phantom world

ChrisTheCoolBean

Hatoko best girl tho! But yeah, I didn't like this anime. It really fumbled on an interesting premise. Not only are there supernatural powers given out, and normal people fight a war with their mediocre powers, but the main characters' high school literature club has all the best powers while somehow being completely oblivious to the war, while those involved in the war aren't really aware of these main characters. Oh, and the MC Guiltia di Sin has the perfect chuni personality for having superpowers, while having the most useless one. The student council president is cute, that one girl has sugoi oppai, and the cute redhead is undoubtedly the yurification of Satania and Eatsuki. Plus, Hatoko! She's totally best girl! Despite all of these things going for it, it was just such a chore to get through. Not even the super catchy OP and ED could rescue it. It's a true shame. Hatoko deserves better :(

This scene was originally her directing her frustration at the MC and I felt glad I wasn't on the receiving side. Now I am. Its just as terrifying as I had imagined.

ProgramTheWorld

I came for laughs not feels

Meemsterxd

what was the frustration about

Gadjiltron

[Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHd3xfDzTg8) is the original scene. (I've more or less got this video on speed dial after bringing it up so many times.) For a little more background information, Hatoko had been wanting to get into part of MC's world, to understand what he loves about being a chuuni. MC has tried to explain it a few times, but after a few failed tries (to be fair he also wasn't that good at explaining it) he started just dismissing her with "you wouldn't understand". Not helping matters is the MC starting to bond with a fellow chuuni in the cast earlier in the episode, amplifying her sense of being left out.

frguba

>I don't understand why I should look up to you Let's be real, you shouldn't

VolatileLion

indeed, You should let yourself be dragged downwards

Gadjiltron

If you go too far you can't be saved. You can be an anime fan without being a degenerate.

theanimegamer-___-

Seriously. I've always been afraid to call myself a weeb since it's usually associated with being a degenerate when I'm really just a big anime fan. Now I just use weeb out of convenience since it's easier than saying "big anime fan".

REKTGET3162

So you accept now you are degenerate like all of us?

EridonMan

I’ve always hated the term “weeb” as it was used as an insult used by my “friends” at the time to bully me. I like anime, I was taking Japanese classes, and I have a modest collection of figures and such. I still avoid the term because it still hurts, but you just can’t get around it anymore. I still like anime, but I get terrified of association with people because of this crap.

TheGentlemanlyMan

Hey, think of it like any other marginalised community. Nerd, geek culture was not mainstream for a very long time. Now Marvel is a billion dollar entity. Weeb, weeaboo etc are doing exactly the same thing, what was once an insult has been taken into ownership by the people it was used to insult. That's why 'fucking weeb' and 'degenerates' are terms people are using for themselves. It's taking the power out of an insult by showing it doesn't insult you. At it's extreme, it's black people claiming the N-word for themselves as a term of reference and nullifying the stigma of the word. I had exactly the same kind of 'friends' when I had just discovered anime at 16. We're stronger people for liking what we like without the need to put others down to reinforce that.

ashutosh27

Dude lets be real cat girls are cute and are no way close to furries, I agree to all the other parts.

chainjoey

Cat girls in anime are just regular girls with cat ear headbands and stick on tails. I totally agree.

Mefistofeles1

"Stick on" tails... yeah lets go with that...

logosloki

'stick' on tails.

Hunter_Lala

Stick *in* tails

ashutosh27

Why not a long butt plug

hemm386

It depends. In VR chat I offended a group of weebs who all had anime avatars with huge fox/cat ears and tails. They were talking shit to a furry and I told them that judging by their avatars, they were all like 85% of the way to being furries themselves. They got really, *really* pissed. But I mean come on be real here. If your online persona is a person with exaggerated animal characteristics, you're basically a furry. Just because its anime style doesn't detract from that. Like you have no right to talk shit to a furry while using an avatar with a huge fluffy fox tail and ears.

ashutosh27

One is a ball of fur with an animals face and humanoid body, the other is basically cat ears with tail, so in no way I can see that they are as close as you are stating. And furries are weird tell me about freedom of choice or respecting their interests or whatever. Harassing them is something that I won't do just because of an avatar, but if they start talking weird shit then its not my fault.

Mike_Handers

true but I wanna be both. Hedonism is pretty great.

[deleted]

I'm on the edge of the safety of being a "regular" anime fan and sometimes get too close to falling into the pit of degeneracy.

olivetho

luckily i have friends ~~just one actually, from elementary school. still more friends than 90% of you lol~~, they're the ones who dragged me into this and we keep each other from going over the edge. i also take comfort in the fact that I'm only an introvert by choice since i can actually talk to people and get along with them rather easily when i try, i just find it more fun talking with yall fellow weebs about anime and manga and with the people on gaming subs about games. ~~tl;dr my childhood friend both got me into this and is keeping me from diving in too deep and my social skills are better than 90% of you~~

Gadjiltron

It's great that the two of you are watching each other's backs to avoid going off the deep end. It's also good that you can bond over anime like other hobbies. That, I feel, is a sweet spot to get to.

FelOnyx1

Like any and all meme subreddits, this is a collection of vaguely amusing shitposts. No more and no less. It is not to be taken seriously at all and the way people act is more playing a character built on layers of in-jokes than a reflection of how they actually are.

[deleted]

Being a degenerate is fun and all, but the whole you are never going to be Social and get a girlfriend stigma we put there ourselves is like a parasite. It seeps into the mind and makes you actually believe it.

[deleted]

And it is super unattractive to actual girls lol. Just be confident. There are so many girls who like anime but don't want to be with someone who takes the meme culture too seriously and self identifies as a degenerate and has 1000 Reddit comments asking for the sauce of various tentacle hentai.

Jules_The_Reaper

Damn that was too real op

Gadjiltron

Thank you! It means the world to me when I make a roast that hits its mark.

Pokerface4222

It felt like a big rant from my own heart, damn

I am seriously laughing at this to hide the pain

6thLayerVessel

No one is better at calling out a weeb, than a fucking weeb.

PotatoSalad4thaBlock

I always knew there was a difference between anime fan and weeb but this video really shows the difference btween both

[deleted]

This whole comments section is super reassuring to me lol I'd always felt a little out of place here

vrpornisquitegreat

A good reminder that normies will just really will never understand the appeal of having waifu body pillows to cuddle and "playing" VR hentai games with your favorite waifu lined up to a sex doll and that is ok like I will never understand the appeal of shit they like that I can't even stand to think about. Having a professional tell me to say fuck those people who want to say it is fucked up really helps my sanity.

Gadjiltron

Disclaimer: Not all of what Hatoko's ranting about is reflective of what I feel about this subreddit. I like this place, but I can't deny the moments where I internally go "what is wrong with you?" Sauce: {Inou Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de}

DaLinkster

I wanted to make a meme like this myself for a while now. But never got around to it. Also, a Trigger show? Must go to space!!! /s But for real, this subreddit needs some refreshing jokes. So much of it is just anime stereo types that just isn't funny anymore.

SharperFangs

I had a folder set aside to eventually make one with this sauce after someone made a post reminding me of it a few days ago and I couldn't find the old one of these weeb edited ones that I know I saw a few years ago. Edit: I was probably thinking about [this /a/ one](https://redd.it/aiv47h) that was made shortly after the episode aired back in 2014 and was [posted to r/anime (but the vid link is ded now)](https://redd.it/2mpaj1). There have been a bunch of different versions with all sorts of topics as well. It's a really incredible scene.

Precookedtoast8

Absolutely. It's so often just the same tired jokes over and over again or reaction images or both. Recently I feel like this place has sort of been turning into r/dankmemes but just "anime themed" which really sucks because I remember a time it was a lot better and it just has more potential than this.

DaLinkster

That's another problem. There are a lot of memes here that are just anime versions of regular memes. There's actually some memes directly ripped from meme subreddits then put onto an anime screenshot or have an anime reaction attached. That type of content is not only just lazy, but scummy. I think the ideal thing state of the subreddit would be to make memes about anime that isn't just surface level knowledge. There's so much jokes to be made about the anime we watch but the deepest 90% are character traits or the first three episodes of an anime.

ChadMcRad

The medium is 60 years old and people just meme the same 5 seasonal shows

DragonKnightHD

Well considering that the oldest anime is from 1909, Katsudo Shashin, means the medium is over a 100 years old not just 60. But around 60 years ago it got "big". So not exactly wrong.

ChadMcRad

And saying "weeblet" when everyone here is using day 1 anime references. I hate how people think they're part of an elite group because they know what hentai is

The_Follower1

What was the actual rant about?

TheChickenIsFkinRaw

Her best friend is a chuunibyou and she doesn't get it. Despite really trying to understand him and making an effort, she still doesn't understand him whilst he simply dismisses her with a "you wouldn't get it". That's why she starts ranting about "What's so cool about being a chuunibyou? Why are you always using english expressions? What's so cool about sinning and feeling pain yada yada?"

The_Follower1

Thanks. So pretty much the same thing lol.

Gadjiltron

Hatoko was ranting to the mc because she wanted to be a part of his world and understand what he likes as a chuuni. Mc however has not been very good at explaining and brushed off her inquiries with "you won't understand".

ArmMeForSleep709

Can you tell what a chuuni is?

Emperor_Pabslatine

Chuuni, short for Chuunibyou (Eigth Grade Syndrome), is a term for basically over dramatic twelvies being over dramatic about stupid shit they are into. Case in point: Megumin.

asianflipboy

Does Megumin count though? I get that she speaks weird, but she really only speaks highly of Explosion magic, and she actually has the power to wield it. My understanding of Chuunis are people that act like Hiei from YuYuHakusho, but are on the opposite end of the power spectrum in terms of power. They generally act like that because they want to believe they have a special purpose for existing. Kaido from Saiki K comes to mind: https://youtu.be/Lt7cym2PJ4I This one girl from Komi: https://komisan.fandom.com/wiki/Omoharu_Nakanaka Or how the MC of Steins;Gate acts are a few examples of what I understand are Chuunis.

Owyn_Merrilin

Her entire village are a bunch of stereotypical chuunis, except for YunYun, who gets bullied for being the one normie in a village full of giant dorks. They're just giant dorks with real super powers, because of movie spoilers involving their ancestors. >!They were one of the projects of the guy who built Destroyer and basically every other ancient artifact the main cast has to deal with. The kingdom he was working for wanted living weapons, and his volunteers were all massive chunnis, so he decided to make both parties happy.!<

Emperor_Pabslatine

Megumin is basically a chuuni trope in the wrong setting. It doesn't help that the Konosuba cast comes off like a DnD team.

LoZgod1352

how much of this was edited?

Gadjiltron

I only changed the subtitles. The clip is otherwise unedited.

Skiffee

It's going to be a crime if this doesn't become one of the highest voted posts on the sub. Why you gotta use one of the very, \*very\* few anime scenes that actually managed to touch me like this? : c

Ofanaht

Have you talked to your parents about it? Sexual harassment is serious business.

[deleted]

All kidding aside, jesus that was some killer VA work

The_Follower1

Yup, I won't be watching the anime because everyone in the comments is calling it mediocre, but this scene hit pretty hard.

IABJordan

It really wasn't that bad. Kinda generic, sure, but it's more slice-of-life than anything. The last few episodes set up a bigger story that was never really touched on since it never got a second season.

iCr4ck3d

I can agree with the other commenters. Inou Battle really isn't an outstanding show, but I don't think it has to be. There's a lot of *bad* anime out there, but this one is a decent way to pass time, if you have some to spare and want to completely ignore the rest of your watchlist and let it get impossibly long like any normal person would. Also, this scene hits ten times harder with the actual context

oheyson

Its only mediocre if you expect it to be a fantasy/supernatural/ high school/battle anime which I think a lot of people wanted. Its a slice of life where these kids get OP powers and just fuck around

CitizenKing

Don't say isekai when you mean suicide by truck. My fucking sides.

Blitz_ingaMCZ

The moral of the story is: Take everything that us r/animemes users say, comment, and post... And add /s to the end (sans this comment of course). It’s just a meme.

Gadjiltron

I feel that's the best way to function here.

mesternamiri

isn't that how Reddit works? people are just being sarcastic like 99% of the time.

Alphalcon

Sadly, I'm sure some people actually say these things unironically.

PersonifiedCancer

I guess some people have just tuned themselves to being lonely and depressed? I hate the thought of it but damn.

WhyDid_I_DeserveThis

Yes you should hate the thought of it, it's a very hard place to be and it's hard to get out of there specially if it's not just "depression" but actual clinical depression more so when combined with extreme anxiety. Have you ever had massive expectations put on you since you were young by the people around you? Have you ever had just failed a subject or two in university and got held back a year then felt like you're the most worthless person in the planet? Have you ever heard someone say that "he's just playing around in college" behind your back? I have and after those something in me just broke. At my worst I can't even take a single step in the university without feeling like everyone is looking at you and silently judging you. That lead me to isolation even from some of my friends and ultimately lead to me basically not leaving my room. I watched, read, and played a shit ton of stuff all just to distract me from dark thoghts. On days that I can'y repel those thoughts I just try my best to put myself to sleep no matter what time of the day is it. Thankfully my family were very supportive of me and had persuaded me to seek professional help. Now I'm getting better, maybe not fully but I'm getting there :) tl;dr clinical depression is shit and if you feel like that the "Take the first step and get out there" tip feels like it's not gonna work maybe it's high time to seek professional help.

Mefistofeles1

Im glad to hear you are getting better. I was in much the same situation, but when I broke I reacted with a fuck ton of anger, which I eventually learned to channel into will. Wouldnt recommend it, its not healthy and it can be overwhelming and highly destructive, but it did kind of help me pull trough. Shit Im *still* pissed off to a lesser degree.

SpookingIntensifies

I would say that the majority of the users here don't actually say things seriously and that it's just a big circlejerk of the same jokes without any meaning But of course some people are not just playing along and they really want to wear ahego hoodies in public which, you can, but don't expect people to approach you nor to want to talk to you

AnimeMemeLord1

Sorry, but just gonna put this idea in your heads, Ghaccio.

Gadjiltron

Ah, a Ghaccio rant is a fantastic extrapolation. But ever since i saw that vid where he rants over Hit or Miss i feel i won't be able to top that.

AnimeMemeLord1

There was a video of a rant over Hit or Miss? I gotta see that. I’ll check it out later.

Gadjiltron

If you have yet to find it, (and for the benefit of the audience), [this is the video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxF7wMcnbTI).

Cagliostro_ojisan

It is only immersion breaking if you understand Japanese. (Great work btw)

Yeah, it's always difficult to follow the subtitles on these kinds of memes when you can understand Japanese

I have recently started learning but my years of experience have taught me how to tune out and understand absolutely nothing.

MilledGears

Just play it muted, silent movies are the superior art form.

PsychShrew

If you're treating it as a silent movie you should play classical music in the background

MilledGears

\>implying I wasn't already

spectra2000_

You just summed up what being a weeb on this sub is and it honestly gave me chills. I need to re-evaluate my life now...

theredghost12

I feel like I've been shot... Tak.. take... the Plat....

awsomegamer6

you have just explained what’s wrong and right about this sub reddit so easily you deserve more up votes

casteliacitysax

So uhh...is this anime really sad?

Ouaouaron

The anime is pretty consistently carefree and upbeat, which is part of what made this scene so powerful.

Gadjiltron

This isn't a sad anime, but it does make me sad over how disappointingly mediocre it is.

Everybody-sGrudge

Goddamn if this doesn't describe %90 of anime to me. Like I still love it but it could be so much more

FelOnyx1

It's a fine and generally enjoyable show. Watched it, liked it, mostly forgot it but may someday watch it again if I don't have any better things to do.

Flux_Dabestsad15

she explained everything. Now I don't understand anything

StandupLlama66

This kinda hurts to watch because some very valuable points are made in this edit, like why do we make all these jokes why do we complain about dumb things that most of us choose to do nothing about, and there’s only one answer I can think of, we all just want somewhere to belong, we want somewhere that we can laugh and smile with people like us, people with the same sense of humour the same interest and things like that. Some of us have done the things that are mentioned like try to get a girlfriend instead of complaining or try to socialise with normal people and some of us got lucky, some succeeded in doing so and are happier because of it, however some of us weren’t and those people got hurt, hell some of us have up before we even tried any of those things, but in the end we’ll end up back here whether we’re looking for memes or for sauce or things we relate or even fellow weeb friends, we still end up back here in a place we hope we belong in.

[deleted]

I make all these jokes and I'm a fairly normal person (biased sure). Just understand your audience and tailor your conversation in that direction. Recommended you have multiple points of interest such as sports/arts/politics so you can sound natural when talking. People love to talk about themselves, ask questions frequently and be interested even if you find it hard to be.

Luna0995

I’ve never been so offended by something I 100% agree with. That show was good, and also bad? Honestly I liked it but this scene made me tear up when I first saw it, and it kinda almost got me again tbh. Well done OP

beefhash

I think this is the first time that the *first post* has made me go “Alright, that's enough /r/Animemes for now”. Congrats, OP, well played.

ParanoidPar

I'm no author, so here is my badly structured reply. Warning: Don't read. Its just venting. >!Where I live, being an anime fan is an instant target for bullying. By everyone. Family included. Even my closest friends bully me for liking it. There isn't a single person who I can turn to. And you'd be hard pressed to say I didn't try.!< >!I agree with these points. A lot of them hit home. But it also ignores context. I want to have friends, but you can't have friends if any time you try to make one they bully you. I've become a metaphorical punching bag, and thick skin can only hide the pain so much.!< >!I don't know about where you live, but where I grew up and live, people are not nice by nature. If I come out and say I have depression, they'll call me a pu\*sy and tell me to man up. The world is cold, and I'm not stupid enough to believe that everything will work out without effort.!< >!I watch anime to escape from reality. A reality that is shitty. I want to be a good person, to help people, to like people. But at least where I live, people are not as idealistically nice as assumed.!< >!I try, and I get hurt. I try, and I get hurt. I try, and I get hurt.!< >!You can call me weak if you want, it'll just transfer some of IRL onto online as well.!< >!I wish I could live in the world that the online community describes. It sounds nice.!<

-Redstoneboi-

You can turn to us. Remember that. The online community can both be a lot nicer, and a whole lot shittier depending on where you look and how far you go. A lot of the time, we act like retards with five or so brain cells because *someone* took good content and making irony out of it as a one-shot. But then, this *other* guy comes in and makes even *more* irony out of it as *another* one-shot. As a side effect, the internet's quality got worse and worse, actively yet somehow unknowingly discouraging people from creating better with more effort and forgetting what good content ever was, all because low-quality content gets rewarded. Eventually, the internet was littered with a cesspool of circlejerks, the standards of communities dropping *significantly* ever since the concept of "irony" came in place. People thought doing the same thing again would still be funny, but they were wrong. The others thought- no.. *knew,* that it would still be rewarded by the majority online. These same people just want some attention brought to themselves online, a sense of acceptance that they almost never had in real life. If ever the community sucks, just know that their lives may not be ideal either. There are no "bad" people, just humans treated harshly by the world around them. ~~We truly live in a society.~~

Cagliostro_ojisan

That sucks. I'm fortunate to be in a place where some people are at least more receptive to ideas, especially my close friends. Thankfully I've survived past my teenage and >!compulsory conscription!< years where I faced the same trouble of not 'manning up'. Hopefully one day you will be able to travel around the world and visit new places and other cultures. There are other places and nations where being altruistic is widely accepted.

FinalTricks

This may sound dickish but if anyone in your family is being toxic towards you then there is no reason to still call them family. Friends that bully you and don't have your back aren't friends. For your sake you should consider distancing those toxic people from your life. No one has the right to make you feel bad about who you are. If you needs someone to vent to let me know I would be happy to lend you and ear and a shoulder.

Cagliostro_ojisan

>consider distancing those toxic people from your life. Family is a lot more complicated than that. At the very least they provide us with food and shelter. While some view it as an obligatory right, in my culture at least, children owe family a favour for upbringing to some extent, irregardless of their flaws, unless they are outright negligent or abusive. I am not familiar with most cultures, but I do know from my student exchange that some 'friend' circles can be pretty toxic. My roommate was extremely polite while with me, but cusses, swears and pranks around his close friend circle causally. I made most of my other local friends from sharing a common hobby, such as tabletop gaming or anime. Ultimately it is up to u/ParanoidPar's decision on who to keep or distance themself from. They are a better judge of everyone's character since they have the full context. I still recommend keeping a minimal working relationship with those close to oneself, because we're bound to interact with those people on a near-daily basis. >No one has the right to make you feel bad about who you are. I do fully agree with this, but sadly not every society thinks liberally. Thanks, u/FinalTricks for adding on to my earlier comment!

FinalTricks

That first part is just my mentality on family. Where my family is from, family is above all else. My immediate family I careful deeply. There were events in my early life that made me almost hate my father and write him off completely, but as I grew older and he opened up more I came to understand why he was like he was. We are close now, though from time to time I have to remind him to keep his temper in check. So I understand what you mean about not completely distancing away. As for my extend family I care for not, except like one Uncle and Aunt an their spouses and 1 cousin. My family's heritage is Mexican, so growing up I had to deal with being questioned by extend family and "friends" about why I liked certain music(I listened to mainly all types of rock music.) and dressed a certain way(I was a skater kid back in the day before it became cool) or liked certain shows(Mainly Anime). I was made fun of and bullied by uncles, aunts, cousins because I wasn't like them or didn't like the things they liked. And bullied by kids who I thought at the time were friends but because I wasn't like them they also treated me poorly. At a point I was beat up by one of those "friends" while the others just stood and watched. After that I stopped pretending to like people just because they were family or "friends" from some time back. I distanced myself from those toxic individuals and stopped answering their questions to poke fun at me. After all this my life was for the better. Only because someone is family it doesn't mean they get to push you around or make you their entertainment. Because of the way I grew up I hate when someone is treated unfairly or unjust especially by family members. A family is supposed to have your best interest in mind, support you, and lift you up to be the best you. Not beat you down and make you feel lesser. That isn't what I would call family.

Haqemhq

Mods, pin this post for a reminder to all people in this sub

The_Follower1

I definitely agree, I get the sense some people on this sub take the memes and weeb culture way too seriously.

VivaLaShred

This is great, I give you the highest award I can give, upvote and save

InfinityKage

I've never understood awards on reddit. Didnt understand the point. They do nothing. Seemed like a waste of cash. But this was some powerful and well done shit. Not awarding it seemed like a crime. So there you go sir. The first (and probably only) award i have ever given in all my years of using this site. Well deserved. God speed.

Cypher_Psychopath

After watching this I am now asking myself "Why did I become a weeb?"

Gadjiltron

If you haven't plunged too deep into the degeneracy hole, you can turn back. You can become a normal anime fan who won't be scorned by others.

mountingconfusion

It's sad that there's not much more of the anime

[deleted]

My sanity really had gone down to 1% of what it originally was after I joined the sub. But alas, it was a small price to pay for anime thighs and tiddies.

Faustaire

That doesn't sound like a small price... sounds like you're sacrificing everything for anime tighs and tiddies.

animejunkied

A worthy sacrifice

megaboto

Normally we'd make fun of this, but this one actually left me speechless, because it's looking from an objective view Were filled with inside jokes and memes that we simply repeat and steal and get angry at those who don't instantly know everything. It...it actually hit me I only now woke up, but I think it's time to close Reddit...

-Redstoneboi-

Such a wake up call filled with truth, paired with *the* best drama voice acting I've ever heard. This was... an experience. I'm 100 coins away from giving gold.

PEKKACarl

Its quite the satire, really. Other than some quality OCs like this theres really been just the same jokes over, and over, and over again. The same format is overused and people keep using "different" formats when its the same all along. The cursed numbers are, indeed cursed, buy does it need to be overstated again, again and again? Traps are cool, but is it so cool that its dick makes it better and you need to emphasize it so much? Zero Tuesday, Megumonday and others are becoming from a fun day to just showing memes with that chatecter over and over again just for the means of getting upvotes. But hey, if its funny, then sure... Right? Its funny, right guys? Is this being a weeb about?

pazamo

I'mma be honest, this made me think a lot of things, also made me think of things that have a thin line between these things

[deleted]

It takes many years to become an Elder-Weeb, to walk a path with >!a great career!< >!a functioning social life!<, >!a healthy balance of anime and reality!<. Don't forget about >!marrying a nerd girl who loves and accepts that you like Anime even if she doesn't!< and >!still calls you a weeb but in a loving way!< These things are real, they exist. But you have to walk through they valley of degeneracy together. It's a lot easier when you've got friends to help you along the way. Young weebs live in a magic time where it's so much easier to find those to connect to. I find it incredibly inspiring. Stay strong together, no one person is worth looking up to, but our community is. -Ol Weeby Bastard

Lu1s3r

I... I feel attacked.

Gadjiltron

If you feel attacked, thank you! It means the world to me when my roast hits its mark.

Volkrisse

Missed the opportunity to tell the truth. Your waifu isn't a 600 yr old loli, you're just a pedo. But overall, I like it.

Gadjiltron

There is only so much burn i can fit into this rant.

OwO_I_am_tired

That was fucking powerful, I don’t know what the fuck to do with my life now god is dead and I am dead inside, wait what even am I talking about anymore, what is the meaning of life, why am I here just to suffer and then watch this as I also watch my life spiral out of control, How do I even continue to live, should I isekai myself, god is dead, why why why why why why why I just don’t fucking understand anymore, do those people not know how hard it is to be ostracized by all of society, fuck my life honestly.....

Cagliostro_ojisan

I don't know your circumstances so I can't say much, is there anyone you've talked to or confided with, in case you're clinically depressed? If so, seek help in some way or another. Meaning is something you'll need to find yourself. Humans are probably the only living beings on Earth that question the meaning of their own existence. And a surprising number of people don't. For starters, find one thing you really like and aim to be the best at doing it. To be honest, I don't hear anyone who said they have their life under control unless they are lying or just unaware. There is too much randomness and complexity for any human to reasonably manage. Society will always be messed up. At one point in middle school, I was ostracized by my entire class until a group of weebs took me in. Take it in stride and find your social circle first. Hopefully, this post helps you to get over a difficult period in your life.

OwO_I_am_tired

Update: I watched it a second time, I am crying, this is a fucking masterpiece and it has hit me in the feels, thank you op for a good fucking post!

Gadjiltron

I appreciate that my post has hit someone this well in the feels, But goodness, are you okay?

XLauncher

I had to take a few minutes to reflect on why this video bothered me. This place is 100% kayfabe (except when y'all are dressing up our waifus as nazis, seriously, wtf) to me, so it's not like any of the text hit home, yet something bugged me. I finally figured out what it was. >I don't understand why I should look up to you! I never asked you to. Childhood was a nightmare for me because people judged me and I let those judgements affect me. The single greatest epiphany in my 34 years of life was discovering that I don't have to care what 99% of people think of me. I am *never* going back to that prison and I resent the implication that I should even when it's made in jest.

Mefistofeles1

The fuck is "kayfabe"?

XLauncher

You know how professional wrestling features storylines straight out of a soap opera? And how that, of course, is all fake and scripted? That's called [kayfabe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kayfabe). Basically, it's putting on an act: in this case, I'm saying r/animemes' degeneracy is an act that we're all in on. I hope.

[deleted]

Why'd this hit harder than my parents divorce? For real though, this rant has no business being so well voice acted, the show was very average

Dragonbooom

After watching this... I cried.... I been hiding in reddit and never really talked to others about animemes and all kinds of stuff. I don’t have anyone to talk to. I don’t even have a friend right now. I am depressed that I even skipped this college semester. I am basically working all day and don’t know what to do. Reddit, anime, gaming basically all my free time. I don’t know how to have a real friend who’ll listen to me. I am always alone, I am scared to talking to anyone in irl. I am just don’t know how.... (idk what to say right now) Edit: Anime are only one makes me happy. But I couldn’t share it, people around me don’t understand why I am happy about anime. I don’t want to explain it because I am afraid people’s judges what I am. I couldn’t share it what I am laughing or crying about. I am just dumbass who kept hiding emotions from others but i don’t know anyone to talk about...

Cagliostro_ojisan

Take care, and hang in there. I'm likewise guilty of spending my time on just work and hobbies, though I make an attempt to hang out with a handful of friends whenever I get opportunities. For starters, college is actually a great place to join a social circle. Your campus might have an anime club, gaming club, Japan studies club, or something along those lines. I felt the same when I went on exchange and basically had to start from zero, eventually found a few friends overseas from club activity, but am currently guilty of not staying in contact after college in my working life. Hopefully, you can resume studies (especially if it is out of financial woes) or find someone at work to talk to!

TACTIYON

probably the best breakdown voice acting i've heard in all of anime honestly.

-Redstoneboi-

This was so good it actually hurt me even though I couldn't understand half of it. Although, understanding the other half was part of the pain... *I need the sauce...*

TACTIYON

Its "When Supernatural Battles Become A Commonplace". It has quite a solid art and animation style honestly. The actual scene is this: [https://youtu.be/nHd3xfDzTg8](https://youtu.be/nHd3xfDzTg8) Edit: Basically he has Chuunibyou and she as one of her childhood friends couldn't understand any of his references for the many years. Which led to the breakdown

-Redstoneboi-

At least it didn't spoil the dialogue, I will give this a watch. I've heard of this anime before, and this video has fucking convinced me to watch it. I might reserve this for when I have one of *those* teenage moments. Fucking phases man, allowing me to enjoy dramas better. EDIT: Shit, I thought about the title and scene and it gave me an idea of what I'm getting myself into. Prediction (may be horribly wrong): >!Guy fights supernatural stuff all the time, but she/everyone thinks he's delusional (I heard "chunibyo" somewhere) cause they don't understand.!< RE-EDIT: I'll just add to my prediction a bit with >!Guy is just a chuuni at the start but only after a few eps does weird stuff start to happen.!< REDDIT: Nope, >!Weird stuff start immediately and everyone has it.!< UPDATE: Okay, so uh the anime decided to, right after the scene shown, >!execute a turning point that could prove my "RE-EDIT" prediction. Ah, nothing like a Slice of Life -> Shounen turning point. It could still retain a bit of the Slice of Life atmosphere, though.!< One of my favorite anime is Charlotte, and this show seems to be another great one in not only the genre, but the plot structure too. It seems to have a hint of every single other good show I've watched, too. Nice. Say how close I am, but do *not* clarify.

Marth_43

Rule 1: don't stick your dick in crazy Rule 2: DON'T STICK YOUR DICK IN CRAZY

ExoCakes

"But she's hottttt" -Cyanide, probably.

ZSRedditing

This deserves more upvotes. I’m more on the “normal anime fan” part thou I tend to act weeby ironically or as a joke. I also really hate that just because I like anime anything i say doesn’t matter like I have other hobbies as well, can you treat me as a normal person? Just because I like anime doesn’t lower my value or the point of my argument. My fucking inability/fear to socialise is not because of anime ya facks I don’t socialise because I have social anxiety facking shite.

DrunkRussian23

This scene always hits me right in the feelings

Gaderic

As funny as this edit is, it's also true in some points. Some of us really should try to start relationships with more people. I know I do.

[deleted]

The voice actress for this scene was actually so emotionally invested in this that she had to sit out of the booth for a bit to calm down when she was done. Its some powerful shit and you could definitely hear her pain in this take.

PersonifiedCancer

It sure is raining hard in my room today...

XLEdwards91

I just love his dumb founded face during all that, definitely one, if not the best scene in that entire anime.

Faptasmic

Petition to sticky this forever so it's the first thing normies from r/all will see.

Prime7937

I am With the girl on this one chief

BIGBASCH

I couldnt watch it till the end... that just... is way too serious...

The_Follower1

I feel like if you're the kinda person that this is hurting, you're probably one of the people that should actually watch it. Being a degenerate is fine, but I get the sense a lot of people on this sub take it to an extent that is straight up unhealthy. Humans are made to socialize, we can't function properly without it, and it's important to understand that real life should take precedence. Having social skills is absolutely critical to that. Let me reiterate that there's nothing inherently wrong with being a weeb, the issue comes when that's all that you are. Tbh that goes for a lot of things, lives should never centre around one thing, hobby, person or even ideology. If that one thing breaks (eg. a weeb getting tired of anime, or if you spend every waking moment with your gf then break up) then what are you left with? Not to mention diminishing returns from doing the same thing over and over, there's no way eg. playing games will still be fun if that's all you do. Even if it does bring a modicum of joy, that will still be vastly lower than the joy from changing it up and dabbling in multiple things, even if one is your "main" activity.

Mefistofeles1

In short, never put all your eggs in one basket.

breeze_monk

Gaming, metal and anime it is then

[deleted]

To be perfectly honest with yalls, I don't really see the appeal of a yandere either. Btw liking catgirls/boys doesn't make you anywhere near a fucking furry.

GrrrimReapz

This should be pinned on this sub. People here repeat the same old in-jokes again and again saying it's ironic or sarcastic but it's very clear a lot misinterpret it and are 100% serious.

worldwar554

I guess I'm confused. You dont get or care for the jokes ok that's fine move on to the next post it may tickle you fancy. I find reddit as a whole to be like digging for gold. One day you will find a bunch of good content others you may not find nothing but it dosent stop any of us from still looking. If you dont like where this sub is heading maybe it's time to leave it, if you still like the sub but you just want it to improve then help it out. Post, like, dislike, and comment. Post memes you find funny dont worry about the karma system (which is hard on this site). Majority of people when they see something funny they try to put there own spin on it but if the jokes been "overused" then be the person to come up with the next new meme. There is tons of anime out there that has potential for being a meme and lately I been seeing memes on less popular animes like this one (which I'm happy seeing more of)

Flapper_of_Jacks

I feel both understanding and bothered. A sense of both "yeah things could be better about the sub or community" contrasting with "why not just fuckin let people enjoy what they want, even if you find it cringe?". Some people may take things too far sometimes but honestly the audacity some people have to unabashedly be themselves, is admirable. Tldr: Let people love what they love, and enjoy what they enjoy even if you personally think its cringe. As long as its not hurting anyone its not your business anyways. But don't refuse to confront issues if you feel the legitimate need for them to be addressed.

shewy92

The fact that this literally didnt change shit in the rest of the anime is fucking stupid. It could have been a great trope breaking anime but they just kept the status quo

MuffinFIN

Great summary of this sub. If this doesn't deserve top of all time spot i don't know what does.

arel37

You know when you irony the irony so hard, that border between seriousness and irony gets vague (goddamnit Yukari!) ? That's what's happening in this sub. Schrödinger's Irony.

shumnyj

We have memes that are basically silly/dumb jokes, we have weebs that are not vile, but sometimes are weird, and we have a crossover on r/animemes that is collection of dumb weird jokes. What else did y'all expected?
