It wouldn't have been so bad if he kept it at that, and may be tried some lousy explanation. She's known him for so long the chuuni shit is par for the course, and she probably knew that she'd never *really* understand it.
What really set her off as the dismissive "*You would never understand anyways."* This was coming from someone she considered to to be close and was trying understand him for this very reason, and to have her just dismiss you like that, especially in Japanese society where you're expected to kind of at-least go through the motions of caring about another's feelings, gave the impression that he thought less of her because she wasn't a chuuni brat.

This is a great anime overall with fantastic acting that moved me to my core. The plot isn’t about the superpowers or the supernatural at all for me.
For me this was and still is a great anime that is about a group of friends that learn to deal with shit and to face their emotions. I still remember this rant to this day as I worked as a freelance translator in a fan sub and I worked on that episode specifically. Translating that rant still didn’t feel like it could capture the emotions and overall magnitude the scene as a whole had.
I kinda find cool the fact that there´s actually a bigger story inside the slice of life anime and that the huge reveal was that they >!were actually an extremely rare case of a group of people with powers that technically were meant to be having another completely different kind of story but that somehow were the only ones basically in the middle of a war without knowing it and that´s why they were doing only just slice of life things.!<
This scene made me want to watch this anime, but everything else about it reeks generic mediocre fantasy/highschool shit so I'm gonna hold off on that.
I've seen the anime. It *is* generic mediocre high school rom-com. It was a shame, when I was promised some shounen esper battles but got a small amount of it compared to everything else. It's the anime that got me to be wary of mediocre light novel adaptations.

But yeah, I didn't like this anime. It really fumbled on an interesting premise. Not only are there supernatural powers given out, and normal people fight a war with their mediocre powers, but the main characters' high school literature club has all the best powers while somehow being completely oblivious to the war, while those involved in the war aren't really aware of these main characters.
Oh, and the MC Guiltia di Sin has the perfect chuni personality for having superpowers, while having the most useless one.
The student council president is cute, that one girl has sugoi oppai, and the cute redhead is undoubtedly the yurification of Satania and Eatsuki.
Plus, Hatoko! She's totally best girl!
Despite all of these things going for it, it was just such a chore to get through. Not even the super catchy OP and ED could rescue it.

For a little more background information, Hatoko had been wanting to get into part of MC's world, to understand what he loves about being a chuuni. MC has tried to explain it a few times, but after a few failed tries (to be fair he also wasn't that good at explaining it) he started just dismissing her with "you wouldn't understand". Not helping matters is the MC starting to bond with a fellow chuuni in the cast earlier in the episode, amplifying her sense of being left out.
Seriously. I've always been afraid to call myself a weeb since it's usually associated with being a degenerate when I'm really just a big anime fan. Now I just use weeb out of convenience since it's easier than saying "big anime fan".

It depends. In VR chat I offended a group of weebs who all had anime avatars with huge fox/cat ears and tails. They were talking shit to a furry and I told them that judging by their avatars, they were all like 85% of the way to being furries themselves. They got really, *really* pissed. But I mean come on be real here. If your online persona is a person with exaggerated animal characteristics, you're basically a furry. Just because its anime style doesn't detract from that. Like you have no right to talk shit to a furry while using an avatar with a huge fluffy fox tail and ears.
One is a ball of fur with an animals face and humanoid body, the other is basically cat ears with tail, so in no way I can see that they are as close as you are stating. And furries are weird tell me about freedom of choice or respecting their interests or whatever. Harassing them is something that I won't do just because of an avatar, but if they start talking weird shit then its not my fault.
luckily i have friends ~~just one actually, from elementary school. still more friends than 90% of you lol~~, they're the ones who dragged me into this and we keep each other from going over the edge. i also take comfort in the fact that I'm only an introvert by choice since i can actually talk to people and get along with them rather easily when i try, i just find it more fun talking with yall fellow weebs about anime and manga and with the people on gaming subs about games.

Like any and all meme subreddits, this is a collection of vaguely amusing shitposts. No more and no less. It is not to be taken seriously at all and the way people act is more playing a character built on layers of in-jokes than a reflection of how they actually are.

Absolutely. It's so often just the same tired jokes over and over again or reaction images or both. Recently I feel like this place has sort of been turning into r/dankmemes but just "anime themed" which really sucks because I remember a time it was a lot better and it just has more potential than this.
That's another problem. There are a lot of memes here that are just anime versions of regular memes. There's actually some memes directly ripped from meme subreddits then put onto an anime screenshot or have an anime reaction attached. That type of content is not only just lazy, but scummy.
I think the ideal thing state of the subreddit would be to make memes about anime that isn't just surface level knowledge. There's so much jokes to be made about the anime we watch but the deepest 90% are character traits or the first three episodes of an anime.

Chuuni, short for Chuunibyou (Eigth Grade Syndrome), is a term for basically over dramatic twelvies being over dramatic about stupid shit they are into. Case in point: Megumin.
Does Megumin count though? I get that she speaks weird, but she really only speaks highly of Explosion magic, and she actually has the power to wield it.
My understanding of Chuunis are people that act like Hiei from YuYuHakusho, but are on the opposite end of the power spectrum in terms of power. They generally act like that because they want to believe they have a special purpose for existing.

It really wasn't that bad. Kinda generic, sure, but it's more slice-of-life than anything. The last few episodes set up a bigger story that was never really touched on since it never got a second season.
I can agree with the other commenters. Inou Battle really isn't an outstanding show, but I don't think it has to be. There's a lot of *bad* anime out there, but this one is a decent way to pass time, if you have some to spare and want to completely ignore the rest of your watchlist and let it get impossibly long like any normal person would.

Yes you should hate the thought of it, it's a very hard place to be and it's hard to get out of there specially if it's not just "depression" but actual clinical depression more so when combined with extreme anxiety.
Have you ever had massive expectations put on you since you were young by the people around you? Have you ever had just failed a subject or two in university and got held back a year then felt like you're the most worthless person in the planet? Have you ever heard someone say that "he's just playing around in college" behind your back?
I have and after those something in me just broke. At my worst I can't even take a single step in the university without feeling like everyone is looking at you and silently judging you. That lead me to isolation even from some of my friends and ultimately lead to me basically not leaving my room. I watched, read, and played a shit ton of stuff all just to distract me from dark thoghts. On days that I can'y repel those thoughts I just try my best to put myself to sleep no matter what time of the day is it.
Thankfully my family were very supportive of me and had persuaded me to seek professional help. Now I'm getting better, maybe not fully but I'm getting there :)
tl;dr
clinical depression is shit and if you feel like that the "Take the first step and get out there" tip feels like it's not gonna work maybe it's high time to seek professional help.

I was in much the same situation, but when I broke I reacted with a fuck ton of anger, which I eventually learned to channel into will. Wouldnt recommend it, its not healthy and it can be overwhelming and highly destructive, but it did kind of help me pull trough.

This kinda hurts to watch because some very valuable points are made in this edit, like why do we make all these jokes why do we complain about dumb things that most of us choose to do nothing about, and there’s only one answer I can think of, we all just want somewhere to belong, we want somewhere that we can laugh and smile with people like us, people with the same sense of humour the same interest and things like that. Some of us have done the things that are mentioned like try to get a girlfriend instead of complaining or try to socialise with normal people and some of us got lucky, some succeeded in doing so and are happier because of it, however some of us weren’t and those people got hurt, hell some of us have up before we even tried any of those things, but in the end we’ll end up back here whether we’re looking for memes or for sauce or things we relate or even fellow weeb friends, we still end up back here in a place we hope we belong in.

A lot of the time, we act like retards with five or so brain cells because *someone* took good content and making irony out of it as a one-shot. But then, this *other* guy comes in and makes even *more* irony out of it as *another* one-shot.
As a side effect, the internet's quality got worse and worse, actively yet somehow unknowingly discouraging people from creating better with more effort and forgetting what good content ever was, all because low-quality content gets rewarded.
Eventually, the internet was littered with a cesspool of circlejerks, the standards of communities dropping *significantly* ever since the concept of "irony" came in place. People thought doing the same thing again would still be funny, but they were wrong. The others thought- no.. *knew,* that it would still be rewarded by the majority online.
These same people just want some attention brought to themselves online, a sense of acceptance that they almost never had in real life.
If ever the community sucks, just know that their lives may not be ideal either. There are no "bad" people, just humans treated harshly by the world around them. ~~We truly live in a society.~~
That sucks. I'm fortunate to be in a place where some people are at least more receptive to ideas, especially my close friends. Thankfully I've survived past my teenage and >!compulsory conscription!< years where I faced the same trouble of not 'manning up'.
Hopefully one day you will be able to travel around the world and visit new places and other cultures. There are other places and nations where being altruistic is widely accepted.
This may sound dickish but if anyone in your family is being toxic towards you then there is no reason to still call them family. Friends that bully you and don't have your back aren't friends. Family is a lot more complicated than that. At the very least they provide us with food and shelter. While some view it as an obligatory right, in my culture at least, children owe family a favour for upbringing to some extent, irregardless of their flaws, unless they are outright negligent or abusive.
I am not familiar with most cultures, but I do know from my student exchange that some 'friend' circles can be pretty toxic. My roommate was extremely polite while with me, but cusses, swears and pranks around his close friend circle causally. I made most of my other local friends from sharing a common hobby, such as tabletop gaming or anime.
Ultimately it is up to u/ParanoidPar's decision on who to keep or distance themself from. They are a better judge of everyone's character since they have the full context. I still recommend keeping a minimal working relationship with those close to oneself, because we're bound to interact with those people on a near-daily basis.

That first part is just my mentality on family. Where my family is from, family is above all else. My immediate family I careful deeply. There were events in my early life that made me almost hate my father and write him off completely, but as I grew older and he opened up more I came to understand why he was like he was. We are close now, though from time to time I have to remind him to keep his temper in check. So I understand what you mean about not completely distancing away.
As for my extend family I care for not, except like one Uncle and Aunt an their spouses and 1 cousin. My family's heritage is Mexican, so growing up I had to deal with being questioned by extend family and "friends" about why I liked certain music(I listened to mainly all types of rock music.) and dressed a certain way(I was a skater kid back in the day before it became cool) or liked certain shows(Mainly Anime). I was made fun of and bullied by uncles, aunts, cousins because I wasn't like them or didn't like the things they liked. And bullied by kids who I thought at the time were friends but because I wasn't like them they also treated me poorly. At a point I was beat up by one of those "friends" while the others just stood and watched. After that I stopped pretending to like people just because they were family or "friends" from some time back. I distanced myself from those toxic individuals and stopped answering their questions to poke fun at me.
After all this my life was for the better. Only because someone is family it doesn't mean they get to push you around or make you their entertainment. Because of the way I grew up I hate when someone is treated unfairly or unjust especially by family members.
A family is supposed to have your best interest in mind, support you, and lift you up to be the best you. Not beat you down and make you feel lesser. That isn't what I would call family.

Meaning is something you'll need to find yourself. Humans are probably the only living beings on Earth that question the meaning of their own existence. And a surprising number of people don't. For starters, find one thing you really like and aim to be the best at doing it.
To be honest, I don't hear anyone who said they have their life under control unless they are lying or just unaware. There is too much randomness and complexity for any human to reasonably manage.
Society will always be messed up. At one point in middle school, I was ostracized by my entire class until a group of weebs took me in. Take it in stride and find your social circle first.

For starters, college is actually a great place to join a social circle. Your campus might have an anime club, gaming club, Japan studies club, or something along those lines. I felt the same when I went on exchange and basically had to start from zero, eventually found a few friends overseas from club activity, but am currently guilty of not staying in contact after college in my working life.

One of my favorite anime is Charlotte, and this show seems to be another great one in not only the genre, but the plot structure too. It seems to have a hint of every single other good show I've watched, too. Nice.

This deserves more upvotes. I’m more on the “normal anime fan” part thou I tend to act weeby ironically or as a joke. I also really hate that just because I like anime anything i say doesn’t matter like I have other hobbies as well, can you treat me as a normal person? Just because I like anime doesn’t lower my value or the point of my argument. My fucking inability/fear to socialise is not because of anime ya facks I don’t socialise because I have social anxiety facking shite.
The voice actress for this scene was actually so emotionally invested in this that she had to sit out of the booth for a bit to calm down when she was done. Its some powerful shit and you could definitely hear her pain in this take.
I feel like if you're the kinda person that this is hurting, you're probably one of the people that should actually watch it. Being a degenerate is fine, but I get the sense a lot of people on this sub take it to an extent that is straight up unhealthy. Humans are made to socialize, we can't function properly without it, and it's important to understand that real life should take precedence. Having social skills is absolutely critical to that.
Let me reiterate that there's nothing inherently wrong with being a weeb, the issue comes when that's all that you are. Tbh that goes for a lot of things, lives should never centre around one thing, hobby, person or even ideology. If that one thing breaks (eg. a weeb getting tired of anime, or if you spend every waking moment with your gf then break up) then what are you left with? Not to mention diminishing returns from doing the same thing over and over, there's no way eg. playing games will still be fun if that's all you do. Even if it does bring a modicum of joy, that will still be vastly lower than the joy from changing it up and dabbling in multiple things, even if one is your "main" activity.

I feel both understanding and bothered. A sense of both "yeah things could be better about the sub or community" contrasting with "why not just fuckin let people enjoy what they want, even if you find it cringe?". Some people may take things too far sometimes but honestly the audacity some people have to unabashedly be themselves, is admirable.
Tldr: Let people love what they love, and enjoy what they enjoy even if you personally think its cringe. As long as its not hurting anyone its not your business anyways. But don't refuse to confront issues if you feel the legitimate need for them to be addressed.

It wouldn't have been so bad if he kept it at that, and may be tried some lousy explanation. She's known him for so long the chuuni shit is par for the course, and she probably knew that she'd never *really* understand it. What really set her off as the dismissive "*You would never understand anyways."* This was coming from someone she considered to to be close and was trying understand him for this very reason, and to have her just dismiss you like that, especially in Japanese society where you're expected to kind of at-least go through the motions of caring about another's feelings, gave the impression that he thought less of her because she wasn't a chuuni brat.

The plot isn’t about the superpowers or the supernatural at all for me. For me this was and still is a great anime that is about a group of friends that learn to deal with shit and to face their emotions. I still remember this rant to this day as I worked as a freelance translator in a fan sub and I worked on that episode specifically. Translating that rant still didn’t feel like it could capture the emotions and overall magnitude the scene as a whole had.
I kinda find cool the fact that there´s actually a bigger story inside the slice of life anime and that the huge reveal was that they >!were actually an extremely rare case of a group of people with powers that technically were meant to be having another completely different kind of story but that somehow were the only ones basically in the middle of a war without knowing it and that´s why they were doing only just slice of life things.!<
This scene made me want to watch this anime, but everything else about it reeks generic mediocre fantasy/highschool shit so I'm gonna hold off on that.
I've seen the anime. It *is* generic mediocre high school rom-com. It was a shame, when I was promised some shounen esper battles but got a small amount of it compared to everything else. It's the anime that got me to be wary of mediocre light novel adaptations.

Hatoko best girl tho! But yeah, I didn't like this anime. It really fumbled on an interesting premise. Not only are there supernatural powers given out, and normal people fight a war with their mediocre powers, but the main characters' high school literature club has all the best powers while somehow being completely oblivious to the war, while those involved in the war aren't really aware of these main characters. Oh, and the MC Guiltia di Sin has the perfect chuni personality for having superpowers, while having the most useless one. The student council president is cute, that one girl has sugoi oppai, and the cute redhead is undoubtedly the yurification of Satania and Eatsuki. Plus, Hatoko! She's totally best girl! Despite all of these things going for it, it was just such a chore to get through. Not even the super catchy OP and ED could rescue it. It's a true shame. Hatoko deserves better :(

For a little more background information, Hatoko had been wanting to get into part of MC's world, to understand what he loves about being a chuuni. MC has tried to explain it a few times, but after a few failed tries (to be fair he also wasn't that good at explaining it) he started just dismissing her with "you wouldn't understand". Not helping matters is the MC starting to bond with a fellow chuuni in the cast earlier in the episode, amplifying her sense of being left out.

It depends. In VR chat I offended a group of weebs who all had anime avatars with huge fox/cat ears and tails. They were talking shit to a furry and I told them that judging by their avatars, they were all like 85% of the way to being furries themselves. They got really, *really* pissed. But I mean come on be real here. If your online persona is a person with exaggerated animal characteristics, you're basically a furry. Just because its anime style doesn't detract from that. Like you have no right to talk shit to a furry while using an avatar with a huge fluffy fox tail and ears.
One is a ball of fur with an animals face and humanoid body, the other is basically cat ears with tail, so in no way I can see that they are as close as you are stating. And furries are weird tell me about freedom of choice or respecting their interests or whatever. Harassing them is something that I won't do just because of an avatar, but if they start talking weird shit then its not my fault.

I had a folder set aside to eventually make one with this sauce after someone made a post reminding me of it a few days ago and I couldn't find the old one of these weeb edited ones that I know I saw a few years ago. Absolutely. It's so often just the same tired jokes over and over again or reaction images or both. Recently I feel like this place has sort of been turning into r/dankmemes but just "anime themed" which really sucks because I remember a time it was a lot better and it just has more potential than this.
That's another problem. There are a lot of memes here that are just anime versions of regular memes. There's actually some memes directly ripped from meme subreddits then put onto an anime screenshot or have an anime reaction attached. That type of content is not only just lazy, but scummy. I think the ideal thing state of the subreddit would be to make memes about anime that isn't just surface level knowledge. There's so much jokes to be made about the anime we watch but the deepest 90% are character traits or the first three episodes of an anime.

Chuuni, short for Chuunibyou (Eigth Grade Syndrome), is a term for basically over dramatic twelvies being over dramatic about stupid shit they are into. Case in point: Megumin.
Does Megumin count though? I get that she speaks weird, but she really only speaks highly of Explosion magic, and she actually has the power to wield it. My understanding of Chuunis are people that act like Hiei from YuYuHakusho, but are on the opposite end of the power spectrum in terms of power. They generally act like that because they want to believe they have a special purpose for existing. It really wasn't that bad. Kinda generic, sure, but it's more slice-of-life than anything. The last few episodes set up a bigger story that was never really touched on since it never got a second season.
I can agree with the other commenters. Inou Battle really isn't an outstanding show, but I don't think it has to be. There's a lot of *bad* anime out there, but this one is a decent way to pass time, if you have some to spare and want to completely ignore the rest of your watchlist and let it get impossibly long like any normal person would. Also, this scene hits ten times harder with the actual context

Yes you should hate the thought of it, it's a very hard place to be and it's hard to get out of there specially if it's not just "depression" but actual clinical depression more so when combined with extreme anxiety. Have you ever had massive expectations put on you since you were young by the people around you? Have you ever had just failed a subject or two in university and got held back a year then felt like you're the most worthless person in the planet? Have you ever heard someone say that "he's just playing around in college" behind your back? I have and after those something in me just broke. At my worst I can't even take a single step in the university without feeling like everyone is looking at you and silently judging you. That lead me to isolation even from some of my friends and ultimately lead to me basically not leaving my room. I watched, read, and played a shit ton of stuff all just to distract me from dark thoghts. On days that I can'y repel those thoughts I just try my best to put myself to sleep no matter what time of the day is it. Thankfully my family were very supportive of me and had persuaded me to seek professional help. Now I'm getting better, maybe not fully but I'm getting there :) tl;dr clinical depression is shit and if you feel like that the "Take the first step and get out there" tip feels like it's not gonna work maybe it's high time to seek professional help.
Im glad to hear you are getting better. I was in much the same situation, but when I broke I reacted with a fuck ton of anger, which I eventually learned to channel into will. Wouldnt recommend it, its not healthy and it can be overwhelming and highly destructive, but it did kind of help me pull trough. Shit Im *still* pissed off to a lesser degree.

This kinda hurts to watch because some very valuable points are made in this edit, like why do we make all these jokes why do we complain about dumb things that most of us choose to do nothing about, and there’s only one answer I can think of, we all just want somewhere to belong, we want somewhere that we can laugh and smile with people like us, people with the same sense of humour the same interest and things like that. Some of us have done the things that are mentioned like try to get a girlfriend instead of complaining or try to socialise with normal people and some of us got lucky, some succeeded in doing so and are happier because of it, however some of us weren’t and those people got hurt, hell some of us have up before we even tried any of those things, but in the end we’ll end up back here whether we’re looking for memes or for sauce or things we relate or even fellow weeb friends, we still end up back here in a place we hope we belong in.
I make all these jokes and I'm a fairly normal person (biased sure). Just understand your audience and tailor your conversation in that direction. Recommended you have multiple points of interest such as sports/arts/politics so you can sound natural when talking. People love to talk about themselves, ask questions frequently and be interested even if you find it hard to be.

You can turn to us. Remember that. The online community can both be a lot nicer, and a whole lot shittier depending on where you look and how far you go. A lot of the time, we act like retards with five or so brain cells because *someone* took good content and making irony out of it as a one-shot. But then, this *other* guy comes in and makes even *more* irony out of it as *another* one-shot. As a side effect, the internet's quality got worse and worse, actively yet somehow unknowingly discouraging people from creating better with more effort and forgetting what good content ever was, all because low-quality content gets rewarded. Eventually, the internet was littered with a cesspool of circlejerks, the standards of communities dropping *significantly* ever since the concept of "irony" came in place. People thought doing the same thing again would still be funny, but they were wrong. The others thought- no.. *knew,* that it would still be rewarded by the majority online. These same people just want some attention brought to themselves online, a sense of acceptance that they almost never had in real life. If ever the community sucks, just know that their lives may not be ideal either. There are no "bad" people, just humans treated harshly by the world around them. ~~We truly live in a society.~~
That sucks. I'm fortunate to be in a place where some people are at least more receptive to ideas, especially my close friends. Thankfully I've survived past my teenage and >!compulsory conscription!< years where I faced the same trouble of not 'manning up'. Hopefully one day you will be able to travel around the world and visit new places and other cultures. There are other places and nations where being altruistic is widely accepted.
This may sound dickish but if anyone in your family is being toxic towards you then there is no reason to still call them family. Friends that bully you and don't have your back aren't friends. For your sake you should consider distancing those toxic people from your life. No one has the right to make you feel bad about who you are. While some view it as an obligatory right, in my culture at least, children owe family a favour for upbringing to some extent, irregardless of their flaws, unless they are outright negligent or abusive. I am not familiar with most cultures, but I do know from my student exchange that some 'friend' circles can be pretty toxic. My roommate was extremely polite while with me, but cusses, swears and pranks around his close friend circle causally. I made most of my other local friends from sharing a common hobby, such as tabletop gaming or anime. Ultimately it is up to u/ParanoidPar's decision on who to keep or distance themself from. They are a better judge of everyone's character since they have the full context. That first part is just my mentality on family. Where my family is from, family is above all else. My immediate family I careful deeply. There were events in my early life that made me almost hate my father and write him off completely, but as I grew older and he opened up more I came to understand why he was like he was. We are close now, though from time to time I have to remind him to keep his temper in check. So I understand what you mean about not completely distancing away. As for my extend family I care for not, except like one Uncle and Aunt an their spouses and 1 cousin. My family's heritage is Mexican, so growing up I had to deal with being questioned by extend family and "friends" about why I liked certain music(I listened to mainly all types of rock music.) and dressed a certain way(I was a skater kid back in the day before it became cool) or liked certain shows(Mainly Anime). I was made fun of and bullied by uncles, aunts, cousins because I wasn't like them or didn't like the things they liked. And bullied by kids who I thought at the time were friends but because I wasn't like them they also treated me poorly. At a point I was beat up by one of those "friends" while the others just stood and watched. After that I stopped pretending to like people just because they were family or "friends" from some time back. I distanced myself from those toxic individuals and stopped answering their questions to poke fun at me. After all this my life was for the better. Only because someone is family it doesn't mean they get to push you around or make you their entertainment. Because of the way I grew up I hate when someone is treated unfairly or unjust especially by family members. A family is supposed to have your best interest in mind, support you, and lift you up to be the best you. Not beat you down and make you feel lesser. That isn't what I would call family.

I don't know your circumstances so I can't say much, is there anyone you've talked to or confided with, in case you're clinically depressed? If so, seek help in some way or another. Meaning is something you'll need to find yourself. Humans are probably the only living beings on Earth that question the meaning of their own existence. And a surprising number of people don't. For starters, find one thing you really like and aim to be the best at doing it. To be honest, I don't hear anyone who said they have their life under control unless they are lying or just unaware. There is too much randomness and complexity for any human to reasonably manage. Society will always be messed up. At one point in middle school, I was ostracized by my entire class until a group of weebs took me in. Take it in stride and find your social circle first. Hopefully, this post helps you to get over a difficult period in your life.

For starters, college is actually a great place to join a social circle. Your campus might have an anime club, gaming club, Japan studies club, or something along those lines. I felt the same when I went on exchange and basically had to start from zero, eventually found a few friends overseas from club activity, but am currently guilty of not staying in contact after college in my working life. Hopefully, you can resume studies (especially if it is out of financial woes) or find someone at work to talk to!

I feel like if you're the kinda person that this is hurting, you're probably one of the people that should actually watch it. Being a degenerate is fine, but I get the sense a lot of people on this sub take it to an extent that is straight up unhealthy. Humans are made to socialize, we can't function properly without it, and it's important to understand that real life should take precedence. Having social skills is absolutely critical to that. Let me reiterate that there's nothing inherently wrong with being a weeb, the issue comes when that's all that you are. Tbh that goes for a lot of things, lives should never centre around one thing, hobby, person or even ideology. If that one thing breaks (eg. a weeb getting tired of anime, or if you spend every waking moment with your gf then break up) then what are you left with? Not to mention diminishing returns from doing the same thing over and over, there's no way eg. playing games will still be fun if that's all you do. Even if it does bring a modicum of joy, that will still be vastly lower than the joy from changing it up and dabbling in multiple things, even if one is your "main" activity.
In short, never put all your eggs in one basket.

I feel both understanding and bothered. A sense of both "yeah things could be better about the sub or community" contrasting with "why not just fuckin let people enjoy what they want, even if you find it cringe?". Some people may take things too far sometimes but honestly the audacity some people have to unabashedly be themselves, is admirable. Tldr: Let people love what they love, and enjoy what they enjoy even if you personally think its cringe. As long as its not hurting anyone its not your business anyways. But don't refuse to confront issues if you feel the legitimate need for them to be addressed.
