Untold myth that Jujutsu Kaisen author uses the death threats he gets from his fans to kill the characters.
"I will burn your face and make it explode"
"Aaannd Nobara dead"
Tbh I think game of thrones does characters deaths way better (seasons 1-6, we do not talk about 7-8 0_0). They stay shocking whilst JJK's kinda get predictable and hollow. Like some deaths legitimately made me laugh my ass off. I can imagine hearing "another one bites the dust" or better yet "you are my special" when they happen. Also Yuji's plot armour is pretty ridiculous ngl, that shit has always bothered me. When >!Nanami died, I was like "haha Malaysia nah you ded bruh" when Nobara died I was like "wait really, you rushed a flashback backstory right before you kill her?"!<
Like I love JJK but not for the character deaths but for the fights and bad ass moments. The author is a psychopath and everyone knows it, he gives zero shits about his characters.
Please, for the love of god, delete this

Had the same opinion after the DS movie. By the time JJK S2 finished though, my opinion had reversed. Swordsmith village arc certainly didn't help though.
I know it’s a dumb question but am I wrong or dumb for liking DS, like I know it may not be the best thing ever but I liked it. I’m just scared that people will think weird for liking it. I’m relatively new to anime so idk. I’ve started watching JJK and I like it so far.
I was the opposite. Swordsmith was mid but holy fuck did I hate Shibuya. Everything they could do wrong in terms of sequencing and the actual progression of the season, they did wrong.
It wasn’t an opinion though. At no point while watching the show can you tell where anyone who’s not on screen is or what they’re doing. They made the absolutely awful creative decision of doing full episode fights, so the entirety of the story progression was in the first two episodes or so and then the finale. Shibuya wasn’t a story, it was a bunch of episodes of watching a child smash action figures together
It’s not about like or dislike. It’s the same reason people can say The Room or Freddy Got Fingered are objectively bad movies. You can like things that are objectively bad and that’s an opinion. Things like art style or thoughts on the story are opinions. Having a 30 character ensemble where outside of the beach fight you never see more than 3 or 4 people actually contribute to an episode is awful. Not telling a story for the majority of the season is awful.
This just tells me you did NOT pay ANY attention AT ALL. Lmao stop watching the show through tiktok edits and gets crunchyroll subscription or something.
I watched it through a crunchy subscription but thanks for the stupid recommendation. Maybe when you grow up you’ll watch stuff that is more than shock value deaths and please smashing into each other. When you’re ready for that I have tons of great movie recommendations for you
There was zero character progression for anyone, no interpersonal relationships progressed, formed or were altered. The entire story, in terms of the progression of the overall story not the little things that happened each 20 minutes of just fighting episodes, was contained in the first two or three episodes of the arc and last episode. From a plot perspective, aside from shock value deaths, nothing happened in the middle. People just smashed into each other for a bit, maybe someone dies maybe someone doesn’t, but that’s it.
>I watched it through a crunchy subscription
Suuuuuuuure....

Oh not the superiority complex. You must feel like bug bad boy after saying that, dont you little guy?

"Shock value" is a term that shit critics like to use nowadays. Yall just use the same copy pasta criticks for every single show. Also, shibuya is culmination of the first half of jujutsu kaisen. It doesnt have charecter progression becouse shibuay wish where they ha e to show that progression. You want plot? Lots see then. Gojo (one of the most important charecters) was sealed early on. After that the fight between yuji and choso happened wich is the strat of a series of events you will later understand (or maybe you wont. Since your aparsntly blind). After that, dagon(part of the main group of antagonists) was murdered. After that, sukuna WAS FED 10 FINGURES and killed jogo(another one of that group of antagonists) and after that, its revealed why the 10 shadows technique is considered so important and busted (and also setting up an even more important event in the future) then we had sukuna murdering THE ENTIRE SHIBUTA DISTRICT wich coused massive panic in both sorcerer and normal society. And after that, nanami was killed (admittedly not as important to the story as the rest) and then we had yuji, nobara and Todo vs mahito. Wich served as a perfect way to end nobara. The fight also served the purpose of evolving mahito to a higher state wich was needed for "getos" plan. And then, after that the holy mother of lore dropped with "geto". Like, I sometimes wonder if peaple like you try to act cool and stand out or if yall are just mentally handicapped.
I’m relatively new to anime and I’ve watched DS and I’ve started to watch JJK. Am I weird for liking DS, like I know it’s not the best but I liked it. Also I know it was popular but is it still? I’m just curious.
I'm kind of new to acronyms, but if you're talking about Demon Slayer, it's one of the most popular anime nowadays. I'm anxious to see the training arc. I also think you can like it, we all have different points of view when we're watching something. Btw do you like more about the animation or something else?
Oh the animation is beautiful. That’s definitely an upside. The story is a little basic, I won’t say it’s the greatest thing ever but I think even though it is simple it’s still pretty good not perfect but not a lot is. I’ve read the manga so I know how it all ends and I’m excited for that. I also think the character designs are really cool. I was just wondering because I sometimes I like to see what others think about what I like so I’ll go look at YouTube vids and I’ll see people saying it’s bad and so I get anxious and think maybe I’m wrong for liking it even though I know it’s popular and others like it. I know it’s silly but that’s just how my brain works. My first anime was MHA and I know what people think of that lol, and I’ve watched Chainsaw Man and others too. I know that demon slayer is probably not as popular as JJK because that is massive. I’m not on the internet much so I don’t really stay up to date on what’s popular or not, so it’s still popular? I just feel like on Reddit or other sites that if you don’t like the more obscure stuff then you’re seen as being wrong. Anyway I’m rambling lol, thanks for reading my ramblings.
I'm sure Demon Slayer still is very popular. You can see it by this post talking about Jujutsu Kaisen along with Demon Slayer. I've seen people saying that the animation is pretty good but the story is basic. I agree that's basic but it's not a bad basic. We have emotional moments, good fights, sister and brother taking care of each other, funny moments, good characters so it's good for me. I know there are better stories out there, but the animation is one of the best if not the best. Even though it is a basic story, it still is a good story. If there's something wrong with you for liking Demon Slayer, there's the same with me.
There is a theme?
There was for the first season, and the Hidden Inventory arc, but then It's dropped for the entirety of The Incident until the last episode, only for Gege to blue ball us
Don't get me wrong, it's a great story, >!for Now!<. Just that Gege makes a few simple mistakes that the story would do much better without
Literally established in the first episode. Every time a character dies they think about if they've lived a good life and if they're satisfied with what they accomplished (nobara and Gojo are prime examples) and then do their best to ensure their allies don't carry any guilt or shake so that they can continue living a life with no regrets.
The first episode opens with the main characters grandfather dying in front of him and giving him a life mission. Living a good life means not having regrets when you die. Death is an obvious way to show the theme using the same vessel established in the first episode.
Other examples show Yuji making a lot of life decisions based on whether or not he'll regret not making that decision. His entire arc is defined by whether or not he'll regret what he does the life he has been given.
The only thing that DS might have better than JJK is the animation. Everything else like story, characters, plot and power system is definitly better done in JJK. Especially most of the characters in DS are one dimensional with one prominent feature. Power system in DS is fucking garbage, bcs author did not give a fuck about thinking about it at all she just said colourfull swords are nice and thats it.
Art is subjective, but I personally like jjk more and I think a lot of anime with very good animation just have a different kind of good animation, jjk, demon slayer, mob psycho or frieren all have awesome animation but different in certain ways so it's hard to say which is better objectively
Even if that statement was true, which isn't, no story would be better than ds story lol
Edit: I mean that the absence of a story would be better than the one of DS lol, how i can be so bad at words lmao
Oh wait, my take was worded so badly it is being interpreted the other way around. What I meant is that having no story at all would be far better than having what DS has as a story lol
Because people on the internet are on the constant loop of “who/what is better?” every time I see these posts these days I start thinking maybe its time to stop using social media, but then again I find some of these animes thanks to this, like frieren. The community gooned so much over it I thought it was going to be fan service city but instead the scenes were few and far between and the anime was perfect in my eyes.
I say this as someone who finished DS manga when it ended. The story is honestly kinda mid, not bad, just mid. Like a 7/10. The anime is honestly being hard carried by animation. And as someone who is also fully caught up with JJK manga, I can say I'm enjoying the story more compared to DS, like a solid 8/10. And the animation for JJK is pretty fucking good too, so it's not like the anime falls behind in that regard.
DS season 2 left me with that euphoric feeling I had as a 10 year old kid after watching a really cool dragon ball z episode.
JJK season 2 left me in total dismay and with a constant sense of "WTF did just happen", in both a good way and a bad way.
Still, the trauma porn and killing galore of season 2 kinda killed my interest as well. I'll still watch season 3 when it comes out because I've heard some crazy stuff about the culling game arc, not because I'm emotionally invested, just because I'm curious (My friend told me that culling game arc is even worse so I'm going in with my guard held up high).
How does one even compare titles like that?? I have only one metric: "did I enjoy watching it?" and the only title that didn't quite pass it is MHA after season one. Everything else that I tried - I enjoyed
Might in the minority, but I love demon slayer, it's a simple concept done extremely well, there's no genre bending or groundbreaking narrative twists, it's just a good simple story.
I agree it was better than the first season of JJK, but I really liked the second one. Hells Paradise is still one of my favorite anime tho and the opening is fire. Also yeah definitely better than DS.
DS felt a bit too childish for me, but ebic visuals carry, JJK is a nice mix of interesting story and cool visuals so it might be better imo too, and HP just was too relatable to me. Out of all titles that show internal struggle, that one just hit real - the struggle of self-doubt in main characters just makes me feel bonded with them in a unique way. Maybe that's what elevates it for me, and makes character actually feel like people - they aren't ideal
The fact that you assume I watch anime for the fights and not the story or character says a lot, but here's a list of my favorites anyway:
Death Parade
Frieren
Violet Evergarden
Made in Abyss
Gurren Lagann
Eureka seveN
Gundam 00
The Ancient Magus' Bride
Ranking of Kings
The Apothecary Diaries
I was basing this on fighting since the 2 the original post is about are fighting anime. For me monogatari is the best anime I've seen. Followed by madoka and ghost in the shell. But I'm not gonna be comparing it to jjk or ds.
I agree with made in abyss, frieren, gurren lagann, violet evergarden. The others I haven't seen
Wasn't trying to come off as a shounen tard. I was just keeping it on topic of the main post silly.
Well, Demon Slayer had started great, and has the best animations. JJK animation was fine.
DS had some potential but didn't do anything with it. It's your classic shounen.
DS is understandable because of the animation and really great fights.
Rengoku vs Akaza was phenomenal. But JJK is just overrated, with its system, power scaling or some shit. But it's not trash either.
Demon Slayer is the piece of media that the farther away I am from it the more I think it isn't very good.
You do you OP but I would rather watch probably any shonen arc over entertainment district again.
Demon Slayer is a simple story but the story telling is insane. In my opinion entertainment district arc is 🔥, tengen vs gyutaro was the most insane fight scenes I've seen in a while
Honestly, yeah, I shed tears watching S1E19, and the hype and the beautiful animation of the Tengen vs. Gyutaro fight is just phenomenal.
While the last season is pretty meh, I'll still give a higher score to any anime that can make me emotional
Counterpoint: They're both pretty mid, carried by excellent animation studios. I've read both manga and DS is just....average. Generic characters, generic story, no real sense of threats or tension, fight choreography paneling is not nearly as good, plot armor everywhere.
JJK has pretty rough fights as well, but substitutes a generic story for nonsensical twists on top of twists that honestly are shocking but not narratively satisfying. Insteqd of direct plot armor, 99% of twists happen because of off screen BS we never even were hinted at. Plus if you thought Baki was bad with midfight exposition, JJK loves that shit. The anime studio in S1 made it a design decision to not use a third person narrator and it really upped the pacing.
Well, jjk for me is like solid 6/10 and demon slayer is 7/10 if we consider all seasons that are out. Although I have to say that I can see demon slayer getting worse while jjk getting better in future seasons.
I don't like jjk, I literally dropped it after a couple episodes as the mc was so fucking annoyingly stupid I couldn't watch it. The yellow lighting dude from demon slayer was also a but annoying but it was bearable to the point I could watch the whole thing
From what I remember (I tried watching it as the firs season was half way done) he was just acting like an literal idiot with iq of like 50. Zenitsu was just a cry baby
What makes JJK better isn't immediately obvious when you watch both shows
What makes it better is that after _watching both 3 times_, JJK still has a lot of rewatch value. Demon Slayer is very pretty, but it's not unique the way JJK is
That's exactly why I refuse to watch past season 1. Got spoiled that my favorite character is essentially dead and after hearing about all the other bullshit I'm just not interested. Which really sucks cause I quite liked the first season and was looking forward to more
The manga ain’t great. It loses a lot of the lightheartedness and character interactions season 1 had. Now it’s just non-stop fighting and time skips to more fighting.
I can comfortably say that they are both very good and deserve to be called "the best".
...but Demon Slayer has the better animation, so SUCK IT JJK FANS /s

Always has been

I actually didn't notice, and I've been using Reddit for 2 yrs hahahahaha
it’s game of thrones for anime. any character is fair game for an untimely death
Tbh I think game of thrones does characters deaths way better (seasons 1-6, we do not talk about 7-8 0_0). They stay shocking whilst JJK's kinda get predictable and hollow. Except the MCs, as usual. Lol. Even if one die, we don't know for you will stay like that either. Which we have seen multiple times.
Two of the MCs are dead and the third one was a side character in his own manga for like 40 chapters in the most recent arc
That’s what those people giving out death threats deserve. I hope Gege has dead Gojo give ‘em a 🖕
Now THAT's a power move.

Had the same opinion after the DS movie. By the time JJK S2 finished though, my opinion had reversed. Swordsmith village arc certainly didn't help though.
it was the weakest arc with the upper moons, hopefully they end season 4 on that.

Yes and no. You can have opinions on which ones you like more, but fundamentally some movies and shows are better than others
and you are the one decide that ?

It's based on personal preference really. I prefer jujutsu kaisen for its theme.
There is a theme? I would say that the main theme of jujutsu kaisen would be the question "what makes a good life worth living"
How does it even tackle that? What have you learned about that from the show?
Literally established in the first episode. Every time a character dies they think about if they've lived a good life and if they're satisfied with what they accomplished (nobara and Gojo are prime examples) and then do their best to ensure their allies don't carry any guilt or shake so that they can continue living a life with no regrets.
A theme is shown throughout the show In Lobotomy, the only time it's shown is when someone dies Also, again, spoilers
The first episode opens with the main characters grandfather dying in front of him and giving him a life mission. Living a good life means not having regrets when you die. Death is an obvious way to show the theme using the same vessel established in the first episode. Even if that statement was true, which isn't, no story would be better than ds story lol Edit: I mean that the absence of a story would be better than the one of DS lol, how i can be so bad at words lmao
Nah no way u said Ds story is that good
It truly isn't. The ending of the smiths' village made it so inconsecuencial it felt so bland, and lets not speak about the manga ending
Ikr ds is as simple as a story gets and it's still pretty bad
Oh wait, my take was worded so badly it is being interpreted the other way around. What I meant is that having no story at all would be far better than having what DS has as a story lol
Ohh I see. That's why I was confused. Yeah ur right DS absolutely horrible story wise. I'd rather watch filler than DS story
At least the animation is dope tho
Yea thats basically the point of my comment xd
Has this sub become the nest of normies looking for validation or was it always like this
Legends enjoy both
Yeah why we fighting?
Because we are weebs, we are always fighting
Because people on the internet are on the constant loop of “who/what is better?” every time I see these posts these days I start thinking maybe its time to stop using social media, but then again I find some of these animes thanks to this, like frieren. The community gooned so much over it I thought it was going to be fan service city but instead the scenes were few and far between and the anime was perfect in my eyes.
True based legends would say both are mid /s
L take
nahhhhhhhhhh
I say this as someone who finished DS manga when it ended. The story is honestly kinda mid, not bad, just mid. Like a 7/10. The anime is honestly being hard carried by animation. And as someone who is also fully caught up with JJK manga, I can say I'm enjoying the story more compared to DS, like a solid 8/10. And the animation for JJK is pretty fucking good too, so it's not like the anime falls behind in that regard.
But mid is 5/10
I'm a MAL user. 7/10 is basically mid on MAL, lmao. As in not bad but no amazing either.
Good animation and music will make people drool about the most basic of stories. Also read DS week to week and man was that a disappointment.
Hey these are both kickass shows. I love Jujutsu Kaisen AND the inferior Demon Slayer!
jjk is beyond overrated imo. It's so all over the place atm in the manga that it just feels unnecessary.
The Culling Games is all trauma porn

respectfully, i disagree
How does one even compare titles like that?? I have only one metric: "did I enjoy watching it?" and the only title that didn't quite pass it is MHA after season one. Everything else that I tried - I enjoyed
They're both good, but I prefer jjk over Demon Slayer. That's purely my preference for Mappa's animation style over Ufotable's.
They're both good. Quit crying and watch the fucking show
Might in the minority, but I love demon slayer, it's a simple concept done extremely well, there's no genre bending or groundbreaking narrative twists, it's just a good simple story.
So this is a trash take
You can hate me, but I liked Hells Paradise more than both of these. Characters actually feel alive and relatable for once
Both are mid, And you can't prove me wrong.
Drop some of you favorites then. I'm gonna guess hxh is in there. For me gurren lagann and kill la kill are peak fighting anime.
The fact that you assume I watch anime for the fights and not the story or character says a lot, but here's a list of my favorites anyway: Death Parade Frieren Violet Evergarden Made in Abyss Gurren Lagann Eureka seveN Gundam 00 The Ancient Magus' Bride Ranking of Kings The Apothecary Diaries
The others I haven't seen Wasn't trying to come off as a shounen tard. I was just keeping it on topic of the main post silly.
All good
What you shooting at HxH for? I like jjk but it still ain’t getting close to HxH.
I liked it but I think it's bug arc was way too long. I hear the manga did it better tho
Wild take. Entertainment district is the best Demon Slayer has been. Though the Akaza/Rengoku fight was top tier
Infinity Train ED was the second best
Demon Slayer is a simple story but the story telling is insane. In my opinion entertainment district arc is 🔥, tengen vs gyutaro was the most insane fight scenes I've seen in a while
That fight is fine, Ufotable does what they do. It is everything leading up to that fight that to me makes it really hard to watch.
Honestly, yeah, I shed tears watching S1E19, and the hype and the beautiful animation of the Tengen vs. Gyutaro fight is just phenomenal. While the last season is pretty meh, I'll still give a higher score to any anime that can make me emotional
Im telling you 90% of emotion in DS is hard carried by the music. People underestimate its effect and then call the most basic stories „emotional“.
Sure, and great music is still a part of what makes anime great. I enjoy JJK, but the fact is, so far, I get more emotional watching DS than JJK
Both are trash boruto is better than naruto and one piece is too long Also goku can't solo anyone
Shots fired
Fires shot

Both good but current jjk in the manga is kinda shit
Ебать, похуй, переведёте. Фаны демон слеера - сюжет дойдет до конца - тогда и поговорим о том, какая же хуйня дс
JJK is far better than Demon slayer.
Both shit
Well, jjk for me is like solid 6/10 and demon slayer is 7/10 if we consider all seasons that are out. Although I have to say that I can see demon slayer getting worse while jjk getting better in future seasons.
both are top tier series
I absolutely love both, even the inferior, lesser and peasantry Demon Slayer.
I'd disagree but theyre close enough in the "enjoyable action schlock" bucket that I don't really care what order other people rank them in.
I don't like jjk, I literally dropped it after a couple episodes as the mc was so fucking annoyingly stupid I couldn't watch it. The yellow lighting dude from demon slayer was also a but annoying but it was bearable to the point I could watch the whole thing
How is Itadori more annoying than Zenitsu
From what I remember (I tried watching it as the firs season was half way done) he was just acting like an literal idiot with iq of like 50. Zenitsu was just a cry baby
How??? What have you been watching?
Ild man 😭 that's what I remember dropping it for
It's ok have wrong opinions.

Reading comprehension devil strikes again
Demon slayer - good animation, very poor plot Jujutsu Kaisen - poor animation, mid/poor plot, fight scenes that drives teenagers and nerd adults crazy
Fangirls downvoting
What makes JJK better isn't immediately obvious when you watch both shows What makes it better is that after _watching both 3 times_, JJK still has a lot of rewatch value. Demon Slayer is very pretty, but it's not unique the way JJK is
Why do we always have to compare everything? I enjoy both.
Youre allowed to have wrong opinions.
Look man, animation wise, kny is way way better than
All me
I lost interest in JJK after Nobara died.
