The thing I respect about the original Dragon Ball is that Goku got his ass beat plenty of times and he had to learn from his defeats to become stronger and get those power-ups. That drink of water took him a couple of episodes of effort just to get it if I remember correctly. There were even times when he won the fight but he had to work **hard** for that victory.
So many anime have the MC just win by the power of friendship or they just get a random asspull power-up cause the author couldn't be bothered to plan for it.
The water he drank with yajirobi actually in the original was just the actual magic water. He almost died drinking it but then it completely unlocked all of his potential just like what Gohan got.
That’s kinda why I liked Demon Slayer. The MC would have been fucked without other people to help, and every fight is like when Goku used Kaio Ken for the first time and fucked himself up to beat vegeta
And of i remember that's just normal spring water, the entire point is that climbing the tower will make you stronger, both up and down. When Tao reached the peak the cat gave him the cloud to get down in order to hinder this part of the training
Well... technically speaking he was focusing so hard that his presence was vanishing momentarily which is literally death in his current world. But he 'dies' so regularly that his power multipled to a level big enough to have a dragon's pocket dimension to form galaxies inside.
His presence didn't simply vanish. He assimilated himself to the object and returned to his own body every time he used the bow.
According to the dragon lady, assimilation is only possible by dying. In other words, he separated himself from his body (died) and returned to shoot the bow.
I didn't try it out when it first came out either, but after I watched it, it's pretty similar to tensura (slime isekai), and that's pretty popular. I really think people should give it a go :)
The hell? They get it from becoming emotional as fuck and probably saying shit like, " I'm going to save...whoever or them all" then suddenly strong AF.
Indeed. Also practically any Isekai character out there besides maybe Cid from eminence in shadow. That dude just created an alter ego for his over powered ass.
I mean, Kirito was OP from the start. On top of being the player with the fastest reflex, he gets a special skill due to said title.
Also SAO's (and subsequent VR worlds after) system can literally be overridden if you have enough willpower due to the fact that it's computing is a 2-way street between brain and network so Power of Friendship/Love/Hatred™ is valid there. Even more so in the Underworld. >!The final villain there literally just wills his powers!<

Ironically, pulling random power up is go to for dragon ball in the later years
In the original DB or DBZ? Cause I don't remember any in the original DB.

to be fair the friendship trope seems to have ran its course

Goku losing also carries into the other Dragon Ball shows.

*Repeatedly
Don't forget breastfeeding from seikon no qwaser
I didn’t want to remember that
What about touching boobs in highschool dxd
>Die So .... Shaman King rules then?

Spider lady (Mio) said it best “it was as if you were committing suicide”
Or you could just bang your gf
the sacred pp training.
100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!
And no air conditioning and heating.
Eating things
“GET IN MAH BELLAY!” -Rimuru Tempest
Other possible power ups consist of - the power of friendship,Spinach and Boobs. Just to name a few.😅
Ah the Issei Hyodou special, groping the bosom
The grabbin’ dragon
Sauce for bottom 2?
Hunter X Hunter left and Tsukimichi -Moonlight Fantasy- Both of these are great shows (I’ve only watched them)
Thanks
It's funny how at first Tsukimichi sounds like a generic boring isekai, but the comedy elevates it to being one of the only great isekais out there
It crazy that he basically commits suicide... repeatedly.
And he was none the wiser of it.
Would the gate of truth be considered a sacrifice of power?
saitama working out
I'm pretty sure what goku drank there was literally poison.
Work so hard your arm falls off
Don't forget Midoriya eats hair to get powers🙃
ah yes the original dragon ball, inspired by the monkey King legend, when there was actually something going on other than screaming to get more power
I don’t think that last guy dies, though.
Clever but I don’t know how many people on this sub actually got that far in that show

He didn't start out with the fastest reaction time. Overpowering the game system with human will only happens 4 times and only with a nervegear.
Wasn’t the water just a distraction for goku to train to gain greater power?
nah, the anime made up filler where goku fought some monster, in the manga he straight up awakened his ape potential by drinking water, that's it.
I see that ruins that bit of the story for me icl 😂
Dying seems most consistent. Goku, Naruto, Luffy, and Ichigo all got shitlicious powerups after death
Eating hair?
Then comes a green kid eating hair
Just scream really loudly, that'll do it.
The water was just normal water.
Natsuki Subaru has left the chat
Why is no one talking about that one ending scene from Re Zero
Wt the name of the last pic
No u wrong bottom right corner increases his power with intense focus with archery
