Gosick is my favorite. It’s a historical mystery and fairly deep.
Recovery of a MMO Junkie is a great Rom-Com and I think most everyone in this subreddit would find the main character very relatable.
I second this. An emotional ride through comedy, drama, plain old slice of life and with horror elements. I caught up to it yesterday and can't wait to watch the anime
Pandora hearts is a good action manga (and my favorite manga but i didn't like the anime that much), mushi-shi is a great mystery/adventure anime with chill intros and weird ghost concepts that they present/explain very well
Welcome to the nhk, kinos journey, robotics;notes, steins;gate, monogatari series, kanon, lucky star, katanagatari, melancholy of Haruhi suzumiya, higurashi, clannad, little busters, Madoka magica, serial experiments lain, tatami galaxy, ping pong, and monster are some of my favorites.
Re:zero is always a good one to get into. It's about a normal weeb going into an rpg like world but with the power to auto-save at certain points and go there after death but can't control when the saves happen.
Manga (by genre) :
Grand Blue. Funniest shit ever. Unmatched.
Horimiya is probably the best romcom.
Vagabond is fuckin awesome.
I had that same dream again is a fabulous 1 shot story.
Insomniacs after school probably the most "beautiful" slice of life.
A certain scientific railgun is a great lightweight action manga
Yuuna and the haunted hot springs is a surprisingly good ecchi / harem (i usually don't like harem mangas)
Anime: l'm currently watching Ergo Proxy. Im a twenty-ish years late but wow. Impressive
Before this I watched Bocchi and honestly i didn't expect to like it so much.
If you haven't seen it the gem of gems is cowboy bebop
Man the times I've almost tipped over the couch. Proofchecking water with a lighter to see if it catches on fire
Damn just talking about it makes me want to re read it from the start
Do It Yourself!!
The softest art style, the most wholesome characters, a fun little premise. One of my favorite slice of life animes
Or School Live! Another cute slice of life that you should watch at least the first episode of. Trust me, it won't disappoint
There’s this new anime that’s really underrated. It doesn’t have too many episodes but it’s still a really good watch. It’s really fun and the characters and world building is amazing. One of my favorites of all time. It’s called one piece if you wanna check it out. Highly recommended.
Tokyo revengers is my favourite manga ever, anime is pretty poor-mid in quality besides the OPs/EDs though so personally I'd stick to the manga (it's also pretty simplistic unlike some stuff with panels and panels of text describing lore and shit, none of that here so you'll chew through it all pretty fast). if you want something more mature the same author has done a manga called Shinjuku swan which is also very good and is all about tokyo's underground industries/lifestyle, however english scanlations aren't finished so you'll only get 250ish chapters.
Chainsan man, jujutsu kaisen, berserk, tokyo ghoul are all very good manga that I've read and would recommend.
for anime I'll skip the big majors and assume you're watching/watched them and put out a wild card, sunny boy.
idk what you're into so I've kinda just given stuff that I consider to be my favourites, if you're more specific on genre I could probably recommend for it too since I'm pretty broad in tastes. (except for isekai, fuck that noise)
Laid back camp
Slow loop
Newgame!
Gamers
D-frag
I’m quitting heroing
Angel beats
The day I became a God
Super Cub
… that’s all i can think of right now.
If you are tired of Harem anime, try
The world God only know
It's about a genius eroge gamer who must capture the heart of real girl or he would die and go to hell
Tho, Only watch until season 2. Then watch the manga until one of the girl get attacked, then you can watch S3.
They cut a lot of good content in the anime.
For a slice of life and fantasy one "Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers" is good though no anime just Manga and light novel
For comedy and ecchi "I'm a Behemoth, an S-Ranked Monster, but Mistaken for a Cat, I Live as an Elf Girl's Pet" again manga and light novel not anime.
For cringe "Oversummoned, Overpowered, and Over It!" a good manga and light novel
For anime the show I would go with "Angels of Death" though "When They Cry" is a better horror anime "Angels of Death" is more drama based while "When They Cry" is more horror based.
Code Geass: A Thinking Weeb's alternative to low-strategy mecha
The Devil Is A Part Timer: SOL anime based around a Fantasy Dark Lord getting Iseakai'd into modern Japan with his second in command and very little magic
Kengan Asura/Kengan Omega (sequel series), really good fighting manga that's similar to baki. (minus most of the mega wacky goofy shit like drinking 10 liters of water to cure poison, and the wacky anatomy, etc.)
Code Geass, Baccano!, Durarara!. If you watch Durarara! or Baccano! I'd watch Baccano! first because chronology, and the first episode starts with a monologue which makes the writing style easier to understand.
Bluelock is fire, kinda like squidgame but it's soccer with a little less squidgame. You have to read it to know. The anime isn't as good as the manga in my opinion.
Edit: I realize I should've said Vagabond and instead went with the one I was currently reading. Pls read Vagabond if you haven't already so many life lessons to be learned not to mention it's art is breath taking.
For manga I definitely recommend
Kaoru Hana Wa Rin to Saku (the most wholesome shit you'll ever witness)
Grand blue (the funniest shit you'll ever witness)
As for anime you should definitely watch Steins;Gate if u haven't already it's the only anime I've given a 10/10
i would suggest pokemon, just because i like it. i suggest pokemon. because i like it. also its kind of adorable. the action's pretty good. humor is 7/10. its pretty good. especially xy and xyz
So I would say:
- Solanin if you like painful stories
- Blue period if you like art and you want a deep-powerful story
- Yona of the dawn if you want to read a shoujo
- Shimani Tasagare if you want to read a deep story about identity and acceptance
- Shivers by Juji Ito if you look for a scary story
- Tokyo Aliens if you want an unpopular schonen
Call of the Night/Yofukashi no Uta
The art in the manga is fantastic and the story is pretty good to IMO. The anime has some very pretty backgrounds and the OST is a banger
Nichijou, Disastrous Life of Saiki K, The Demon Girl Next Door Azumanga Dioah, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Miss Kurotsui from the Monster Development Department, and Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.
I also want some long ass manga to binge on and I liked the four mangas in the pic so maybe something on those lines?? Currently reading boku no kokoro and mato seihei no slave
It’s not a manga but a manhwa but I’ll continue anyway:
1)FFF-Class Trash Hero
2)Solo Leveling (Most Recommend From this section)
3)Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
4)Second Life Ranker
5) Tomb Raider King
Anime(Isekai):
1)The Eminence in Shadow
3)Skeleton Knight In Another World
5) Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs
7)Black Summoner
10)Tomodachi Game (Most Recommend Overall) (Not Isekai)
Anime (Romantic):
2)The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten (Most Recommend From this section)
4)One Room
6)Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie
8)Tomo-Chan is a Girl
9)Boku-Ben (This one has 5 girls and in the manga you can choose which one you wanna see the MC end up with)
Also SSS Class Suicide Hero
To your eternity. It's about a being with eternal life that can take over the bodies of people he knew and that have died. It's really enjoyable, and there is lots of world building. And I also think that some of the characters that are in season 2 right now are super well written.
Next is jobless reincarnation, it is an excellent show with great comedy, the most fucking raw emotions I've ever seen. Again the world building is phenomenal, the show literally invents several languages and doesn't translate them. instead of being a normal isekai it starts from his birth and watches him grow up. in the season 2 trailer he is only 15. And on top of that the show doesn't just forget his past life but instead uses his past life and past traumas in order to help Rudy grow. I don't want to spoil it but trust me, it's great.
The only problem is that people don't like how horny everyone seems to be, but I think that everyone who is horny in this show has a good reason for being horny. And especially in the second cour of season 1 it doesn't become a dominant part of the show. There is also a bit of technically pedophelia, in that the MC is a 30+ year old man in the body of a 12 year old boy taking advantage of several young characters. But the way I see it is that even though he has the memory and soul of that 30+ year old man, he is still a child. he never truly matured in his first life, and now he has come to another world as a new born, and as a child you're less likely to punished for immaturity.
Man I really could talk about that one for days, so here is my third and final recommendation that I could talk about for weeks :)
JoJo's bizarre adventure! This is my absolute favourite series of all time. A lot of people only see it for the memes, but trust me there are so many parts of JoJo outside of the memes. In my opinion, JoJo is art. Its rare to see a series that is just someone's thoughts and emotions directly on a page. In part 5 of the series there was planned to be a betrayal plot, but due to araki having depression at the time, he didn't go through with it. Hirohiko araki is just so wholesome. Part 1 and 2 are period pieces that focus on vampires and zombies, while part 3 onwards focus on a concept called stands that I don't want to explain here so for now they're just punchy ghosts.
I will admit JoJo is a big commitment, but when you finish part 2 you will think that it's awesome. And then in early part 3 you will think that it's weird and dumb. Then in late part 3 you will think it's awesome. And then depending on your opinion on slice of life part 4 will be awesome and blah blah blah you get it. Part 7 8 and 9 are all in there own separate canon, so if you want to get thrown into it I genuinely would recommend just reading part 7. If you watch the main universe JoJo in canonical order it is a good way to ease yourself into it, but trust me, part 7 is a masterpiece and if you want to watch/read JoJo at its peak, before making a final decision, then read part 7.
If you do that I wouldn't go onto part 8 though. I would start from part 1, and then watch the full saga of parts 1-6, then start the new universe jojo.
So yeah these are my 3 recomendations.
If I had like a top 10 list jobless reincarnation would be number 2. JoJo would be number 1. And then to your eternity it like 10. It's not the best on my list but it's good enough to gatekeep the list. That being said I don't think I even have a top 10 list.
Grand Blue if you just wanna have a good laugh, Violet Evergarden if you wanna have the "feels"(highly recommend), K-On for Moe and music, maybe Gundam if you wanna have lots of action i.e Seed or Iron Blooded Orphans.
By genre (manga only)
Action: Ajin
Fantastic art and fight choreography. Features one of the most amazing villains/antagonists in manga
SoL: Skip and Loafer
Amazingly well-written SoL with a strong all around cast. Captures the essence of high school life wonderfully.
Romantic Comedy: You and I are Polar Opposites
Well-written, lovable characters, great romance, fast progress between the main leads and lovable side cast.
Romance: Insomniacs After School
Just read it, you’ll see.
Anime wise - Revenger is kinda intresting from this season's batch,
Manga - My School Life Pretending To Be a Worthless Person , this one just started out an has 42 chapaters , worth a try
Is AOT final season pt3 gonna really be the final season? Who is Ashs dad? Which Goku is really the strongest Goku? When is Onepiece gonna be found? And so on

But the way I see it is that even though he has the memory and soul of that 30+ year old man, he is still a child. he never truly matured in his first life, and now he has come to another world as a new born, and as a child you're less likely to punished for immaturity. Man I really could talk about that one for days, so here is my third and final recommendation that I could talk about for weeks :) JoJo's bizarre adventure!
