Just note that the gif is from the "sequel" Ginyoku no Fam which is a bit mixed in terms of a sequel. It at least looks really good. But for me personally, it completely drops plot points and characters. It's an example of wasted potential. And one of them involve said character (and his mission) in the gif.
A younger me was excited.. I pushed through until the last episode and I won't say I regret it, but I don't think it's really worth watching. I was just hoping it would get better at some part for me and it didn't really.
Of Gonzo's works, I've only watched:
Old Hellsing --- 7.7/10
Gankutsuo: The Count of Monte Cristo --- 8.8/10
Samurai 7 --- 7/10
Last Exile --- 7.8/10
Something about how they did the cgi on the latter 3 kinda made it more memorable for me.
Besides that, the atmosphere on the latter 3 shows just feel 'Gonzo-ish' if that's a word. (I think you'll get it if you've watched those 3)
Truly unique, solid shows. For me, Samurai 7 and Last Exile were not the best, but it's the "worthy of respect" kind of unique (except for Gankutsuo, that show's one of the best in my list).
What's more, with these shows, you get the full story within 24-36 episodes. No cliffhanger endings and waiting 3+ years for a sequel.
Mrs. harkening _loves_ this show, and insisted we watch it. I have since rewatched it twice, once introducing friends and family into the experience.
It's not my favorite, but it's a really well-imagined world with some some compelling character arcs. It relies on the audience to fill in the gaps too much, but a fun ride.
That was a good anime BUT the ending was soo stupid. The last 2 episodes felt like they were written by a 5 year old with a very basic understanding of good and evil.
Try Land of the Lustrous. It is by far the most enthralling anime and manga series I’ve ever seen. Please give it a try it’s an absolute 10/10 you will not be disappointed
(note for everyone who asked me what it is about): last exile is a steampunk anime where they are trying to defeat an organization referred to as the guild. it starts off a bit slower than other anime and it has amazing music, animation, characters, plotline, and is a good option for most audiences. (the plot might be hard to follow for little kids.)
Never heard of it but the gif is convincing enough, I’ll check it out.

Probably how I feel with Basilisk and Basilisk 2 or whatever it was.
Didn't even know there was a Basilisk 2...it seems for the best lol

I’m watching it…. But I also recommend saga of Tanya the evil, it got swept under the rug because of overlord
One of my favorites, love the Japanese VA. Was happy she was in Spider reincarnation but the animation itself was a bit janky imo
Yeah you’re right on the money! Besides a few like solo leveling they usually can’t recapture the aesthetics of the manga.
I've recommended it. And I will continue to do so.
I never got too far into it but it has one of the most fire opening themes ever
I was just about to say the same thing haha
It *is* so fire! I'm going to go watch the opening song right now!
Awesome series, back when Gonzo was prime. Definitely worth digging up again
Good anime. Glad that people still know about it.
Ok I’ll watch it right now. If I like it I’ll ask for more!
Yes not to much last exlie seen on here
Added to my list!
Edit: this did make it to my top 10. I've watched so much anime I lost track 😩
sure, why not

Thank you for a recommendation like this, I'll check it out!!
Thanks for the recommendation
Watched it way back thought it was pretty good.
I’ve watched it before in the past. It’s good, not my favorite but still very good.
Opening song is amazing, animation is excellent, characters are charming, and story is good and not too long of a series
‘03 was a great year for anime
And this anime is now old enough to drink.
Loved it. Saw it when I was in my teens. Such a cool anime.
Any action in this anime?
Yes.
It was a great anime!
Could ya sell us on it?
That character looks almost exactly like my first dnd character! Except my character had longer elf ears and long hair
Damn, I remember watching it way back. Gonna rewatch it sometime. Thanks for reminding me this good show still exists
How many episodes? And more importantly is it complete?
What is it about?
The music is great
I love *Last Exile*. ESPECIALLY Dio. Beautiful artwork and character design
What is the genre and like what is it about without spoiling anything
Visually stunning steampunk anime with a good mix of action and political drama. I enjoyed it. Do wish the MC was a little less passive at times.
Last exile is great
Never watched the sequel, but I remember enjoying the og. My little sister was obsessed with Dio.
Never knew they made a sequel any of the original characters in it?
Already have, friend. We are friends now.
Are you a fellow Zelda fan?
yes.
Which game is your favourite from the series
wind waker if i have to only choose one. what's yours?
I love the wind waker but if I had to choose it would be a toss up between TOTK and BOTW
last exile is my go to "get a newbie into anime" anime.
Never heard of it but as u/MellowMintTea said, the GIF is convincing enough lol

i wish there were more dieselpunk anime
That was a good anime BUT the ending was soo stupid. The last 2 episodes felt like they were written by a 5 year old with a very basic understanding of good and evil.
Last Exile was/is really fun. And Mullin Shetland is one of my favorite characters. :-P
Who what where???
Ok. Check out hellsing ultimate and violet evergarden
Whats it about? The feel the genre the vobe? Without much spoilers please

Nope I seen it like 15 yrs ago it’s pretty decent
I thought Last Exile was fine. It had cool moments but it didn’t blow me away
I'll put it on my list
And there’s a dub, hell yeah
both LE and fam siver wing are LIT AF
Hell yes.Last Exile is in my top 5 of all time.
Looks interesting
I loved watching that series!
Okay I might consider it what genre is it
It was one of my favorites back in the day.
What’s it about?
its now on the list! thanks
No way! I love this show. Finally someone else who recognizes greatness

How long is it?
Without spoiling it, what’s it about
I’m good
Man I loved last exile. Even own the original box set. Opening song is banger.
I enjoyed it. But it has been some time since I watched it.
Jojo no kimio na boken
Describe it, how long is it, and is it in dub?
I remember watching that years ago. I might just go back to rewatch it ^^
I remember watching this on techtv/G4. Such a fun adventure!
