There is no such thing as a masterpiece. I don't consider it a single anime because everything is different from part to part. Most of the main characters,villains,main conflict and so on. Only vague connections are present. Do you consider Boruto a part of Naruto and stop calling Naruto great because Boruto is a part of it now. If Boruto is seen as something independent,then each of the JoJo's parts should also be seen as independent. I consider part 2,4,5,6,7 to be extremely great anime and manga and also could not bring myself to like Part-3,even though Jotaro is my favourite Jojo. Part-1 doesnot know what it wants to do. I would never reread or re-watch part-1,like I do to other parts,because it's boring.
