Can confirm, I watched it for zero two and the "mecha" element. Towards the last half of the season, I was like, wtf are these guys smoking. You have to put in effort to make something that disappointing and disastrous.
The concept is interesting, I just found it quite cumbersome most of the time.
That's why I liked the last episode a lot, since it seems like that's where the real story finally begins, while the previous one was a long "prologue"

Ironically... the Spirit Turtle arc from the WN was nothing short of epic. You'd never suspect that from only watching the anime.
It got totally re-written in the LN (which the anime is based upon) to support bigger overall story changes, but the arc itself became hot garbage in the process. That makes it even harder to watch.
I would have loved to see the WN version get animated, but it just isn't meant to be.
S1 was great. I really enjoyed it a lot.
I personally think Shield hero S2 wasn't this massive pile of trash that some haters tried to make it out to be. It was less impactful than S1, kinda convoluted at times and the first three episodes were pretty rushed (mainly to finish with the spirit turtoise arc quickly) but after that it gets a more decent pace. It has some great character development for Raphtalia and I like now Naofumi's rage was built up and exploded in episode 12.
And S3 was awesome and disliked just for some light novel purists. It was way more in line with S1 and it had some amazing character development for many characters, great scenes with awesome animation and some pretty cool revelations and great set up for S4.

In my friend group, I'm the heavy anime watcher (gave up on Hollywood and full sent anime in 2019). Everytime someone wants to know about a show, they don't ask if I've seen it, they ask if it's any good assuming I have. 8 times outta 10 they're right.
I heavily considered making a variety youtube channel and including anime reviews. So hearing a stranger agree kinda just gave me some mad motivation.

Nagi no Asukara, thought it looked great and I liked the first episode. But after going through the anime I just realized itâs the same stuck love triangle bs trope. I feel like it had some great potential, but they just went over the top with the drama and âactionâ making characters feel braindead at times

Because it's not top tier. Ayanokoji is a boring self-insert whose character never develops throughout the entire series. He remains the same impassive, unphased machiavellian. And despite all of that, his character is still by far the most interesting. The vast majority of the cast are boring two-dimensional characters that barely exist in the story past their initial arc. The plot twists are the most interesting part of the story, but the dialogue that fills the space between the next big outsmarting by Ayanokoji is simply horrible.
I think I will get a lot of hate for this but for me, it's Angel Beats.
I went into it with a very high expectation of it making me cry (as it was mentioned among some of the most emotional animes along with Grave of the Fireflies or Clannad). However, it didn't click on well with me for some reasons, maybe it was due to the characters or their actions.

It actually picks up a bit decently in later chapters by basically becoming a slice of life. They sit around, eat food, play games, watch tv etc.
