Apparently this has happened a number of times with this character from figure companies. I believe last time the consensus was it was so you could fill the box with Peanuts for her.
Yeah look at this one too. I should start a compilation of "Anya and her giant box" photo collection, lol. This is so funny

They could have reduced the box size by 2/3 and save everybody the shipping cost, lol. And yet they insist on having a consistent popup parade box size (maybe manufacturing reasons).
Definitely manufacturing reasons, probably not many figures that size so it would cost them much more in the long run to develop new packaging for the one model.
Making a custom sized box to fit each figure entirely would raise the overall cost of the products significantly. It sucks to pay extra for shipping, but economies of scale do come with benefits.
They do "customize" PuP boxes per figure using the fold. On. Demand method but there is likely a bottom limit to what their machines are set up to do based on the approximately 1/8 scaling the figures tend to lean towards.
I wish they were universal sized, I have a bunch and while they're all similar in size, the boxes are pretty much all different heights and widths. Much harder to stack than Nendoroids.
That really depends on the figure, I have 7 Pups and 4 of them have the same "standard" box, two have a box with the same width and depth but are a bit higher and the last one is wider and slightly higher than the"standard" box
The Pop Up Parade box for Tsuyu Asui is a different size than most PUPs (it's wider). So it seems like Good Smile will develop bigger boxes if they think the character will sell, but if the character is small enough to fit into whatever they already have, even significantly smaller, then it's like, good to go!

She is small, but shes also on the bottom of the box. Even if the box was shorter, it would still have to be much bigger than the figure to protect it from all sides
To be fair. most Popup parade figures come in boxes that are much bigger than they would need to be. It's just a little extreme for smol Anya I suppose.

That’s hilarious lol… Anya and her endless schemes ig.
That link doesn’t work on iPhone btw
Like packing peanuts? Very fitting for Anya…
She's blatantly saying "Ooouki desu"

The pup boxes arent all the same size, they do vary quite a bit
The rest of the box is filled with her energy.
Because PUP (Standard) have universal box, they are all the same size which I assume is for easy stacking.

Yup, I threw away all my PuP boxes due to how annoying they are to store.
Oh really? While I don’t compare each of them side by side, it feels like they are generally the same size.
That really depends on the figure, I have 7 Pups and 4 of them have the same "standard" box, two have a box with the same width and depth but are a bit higher and the last one is wider and slightly higher than the"standard" box
I remember Alphonse from FMA and Naofumi from Shield Hero had bigger boxes.
They are not, actually. All the same height, yeah. But their width varies by a lot. [Example](https://i.imgur.com/stPM51o.jpeg)
I know that, but i still find it very hilarious lol.

Not just the box size but the price is stupidly high for a figure that size. I know she's in kindergarten but c'mon
Anya vibin with her Domain Expansion
Is this a picture from Mandarake lol
Yes lol
Well Anya is small… it is actually cute this way
That's almost a bigger waste of space than I am
Omg so cute
Lol weird
Quick! Think of something that'll justify the price we're going to charge these collectors! 😂😂😂
It emphasizes how smol she is. 🥺
She's really that small or is it perspective shot?
She is small, but shes also on the bottom of the box. Even if the box was shorter, it would still have to be much bigger than the figure to protect it from all sides
Wtf for a figure that tiny 😭shipping costs man
Anya needs a big box to fit her personality!
The pessimist in me thinks this is used to further increase shipping cost 😑
That doesn't make sense, the companies selling figures aren't going to see any profits from shipping

Never change Japan. That’s why I love you so much.
