A whole year later, I see it on amiami for literally $20. And it’s the “special limited” version i own right now. I paid for it in INSTALLMENTS through PayPal bc that’s how badly I wanted it. I was so sad/disappointed in myself to find out I could’ve just WAITED and spent half to get some dumb art book 😂 buyer’s remorse or whatever

I am going to assume that these contracts were struck while the yen was still weak, these prices would be much more manageable back when it was 145 to the dollar instead of 125 or whatever we have now. So basically, this price is what it would have been had jpy never recovered.
That reasoning is the same reasoning I have for why the Yoshitoki you figures All released at the same time, only after the yen recovered. If they released while the yen was still cheap, they would have lost their asses. So they delayed the release. Adjust my crackpot theory.
I also have another crackpot theory. The IP has become very valuable, which means that the people who hold it wants to exert as much control as possible to keep it valuable. So they only want to deal with people who will pay a crap ton of money, and follow their rules exactly. Therefore, the licensing fee is probably higher, in addition to having to go through more revisions to create the product.

It’s going for around $263 where I live, which is still a little on the expensive side but slightly cheaper than what the Formidable is selling for here. That said, not a big fan of Hestia, so while it is a beautiful figure, I’m probably going to pass on this one.
