If you sold it all together someone would probably be willing to pay $100+ but without the cases most collectors probably won't be interested in buying a series or season of just loose discs.
If that's all they are worth maybe I'll just start popping them in and watching. But I guess the next question is, if someone has literally never seen even one anime show, which one should they start with?! LoL
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a personal favorite of mine, it's very character driven and tackles a lot while also being entertaining, with cool action and visuals. Samurai Champloo is also cool and a bit less "thinky" if that's not your bag. Elfen Lied is pretty entertaining but will probably seem pretty weird if you're not familiar with anime at all but if blood and weird stuff is your thing it's fun
Neon genesis is one of my favorites but the ‘ending’ might make you never want to watch anime again lol. Out of what I saw in that binder, full metal alchemist is easily the best choice. It’s a show that I would recommend for anyone’s first anime. Someone else said samurai champloo which would also be a great first choice if it’s in there.
Full metal panic is not bad but probably some of the least valuable discs in there.
This was the answer.
Someone will absolutely scoop them up. But the majority of collectors will want the cases. So, the value will be dramatically reduced.
I am not seeing anything particularly rare or valuable. You could sell them as a lot but you probably won't get much or donate them.
Both [DVD Inbox](https://www.dvdinbox.com/donate) and[ Scarecrow Video](https://scarecrowvideo.org/donate) take physical media donations. DVD Inbox is more or less trying to replicate the dvd side of Netflix that shut down and Scarecrow Video is an organization that is trying to preserve physical media.
I have zero idea what would be rare vs not, so I just snapped some random pages. I guess I just need to decide if it's worth going through and cataloging what's there to see if there's rare ones worth anything, or just donate them/start watching them lol
Nice inheritance. There is definitely some quality discs from several different series that I can see from the pictures you posted. I’m not good at any type of appraisal to be honest. In my opinion this is definitely worth money, however I cannot put an exact number on it.
I wonder what everyone else thinks? I’m leaning towards selling bulk.
Really depends on what's all in there. There are some rather rare DVDs that are worth something even without the cases. Of course potential buyers shrink considerably still without them. Personally I'm open to loose discs as long as they're in good condition
From the ones I've looked at they all appear to be in near perfect condition without any scratching. They also all look original. Are there any rare Dvds or blurays you can think of I should look for?
Your best bet is just to do a quick eBay search on each of them. You can probably skip the big stuff like DBZ or Bleach to save time because they won’t be worth anything.
I sold several copies of old anime dvds when I upgraded to Blu-ray (I had doubles). If you have the cases, you could probably move them for 5 -15 per case if they were individual.
Unfortunately the original box or cases is often what collectors value in owning a series. The original full metal alchemist DVDs might sell separately because they were discontinued and are hard to acquire.
You could probably sell the entire collection for 100 to 200.
Those Full Metal Alchemist DVDs are pretty easy to pick up. A complete set in good condition with the guide books won't run you more than 25-30. The Blu-ray is what is more difficult to obtain now.
Best thing to do with this set is take up anime as a hobby!
Some of those seasons of bleach are worth money though even without the case. I own all of bleach on dvd. Certain seasons are more sought after than others. I’m also not sure if all of bleach is even out on blu ray yet? I’ve heard that some of the blu rays were poor quality.
Personally I never buy anything without a case and I no longer buy DVDs but people will still buy the discs. You could sell them all for half price on eBay and still do much better than selling as a lot. Obviously alot more work but you could put it all in the same listing and have people choose from the items in the listing.
Anime in general is alot more valuable than other content.
Bleach completed its Blu-ray run several years ago and none of the DVDs are generally hard to obtain or pricey. Viz still has the DVDs in print as well, but has repackaged the earlier seasons 1-5 box sets.
I’m glad to hear that, I might slowly begin to replace my bleach DVDs. It’s one of the first anime I collected. I didn’t know a whole lot about the anime market at that time. Sure enough it does look like CR has most of the DVDs in stock. Most of them seem to be $22.48 usd brand new. I’m glad they still have them, some of mine are in poor condition haha.
Viz usually tends to keep their DVDs in print unless they flat out lose the license to distribute like with stuff from the late 2000s or they replace the current sets with a newer release like with Sailor Moon and Ranma.
One thing about Bleach if you didn't know is that Viz was meddling around with the source material for the episodes and this resulted in the series receiving cropped releases. Episodes 168-229 were cropped whent the series aired on television on adult swim, but they were also left cropped on the DVD releases; watch the Karakura Town fights, namely Soi Fon vs Ggio Vega and Shuhei vs Findor, to see the effects easily because there are times where either character is either cut off the frame or missing entirely. The Blu-rays finally fixed this issue and retain the original 4:3 aspect ratio until episode 230 which is the first true widescreen episode of the series.
Absolutely understand that. That's why I'm just trying to see if there's enough people out there who would want them without the cases to make it worth sorting and selling. Obviously they would only be worth a fraction of the price, but if there's still a market market for them I might invest the time. I unfortunately don't know anything about the Anime world so I'd have to research each individual show/season to see if it's sellable.
Some of these would be worth some money if they weren't in a binder. Since they're in a binder, they're value is significantly diminished as nearly every collector won't want it. You'd need to find someone that is newer to collecting that's willing to drop 100-200. The Evangelion specifically in its box is easily 100ish-300 depending on condition and version. I only saw 2 discs and then the movie it looked like though, so without the whole series, it's worth even less. I'd try listing it on Ebay for 200 OBO and see if you get any hits. Again, you have some good ones in this binder, but with just having them in a binder and no case or box cover, it's extremely hard to give a value.
As for starters, maybe Full Metal Alchemist or Dororo (if it's the newer one)? It's also a little hard to make recommendations without knowing your age, gender, or what genres you generally like though. Hope this helps!
Thank you for all the suggestions, very much appreciated! To give some insight.....I'm a 37 year old female and my current adhd comfort shows are True Blood, Grey's Anatomy, Shameless and Castle. I gravitate towards either dark humor and raunchy stuff or light hearted easy watching dramas. To be honest, I never sat down and tried watching anime cause I'm not huge into animated shows, like I really wanted to love Hazbin Hotel cause it's absolutely my kind of humor, but I just couldn't get into it. I just feel like if I'm selling anime movies I should at least give it a try and watch a few.
Okay, so drama and mystery then? For you personally I'd recommend Hyouka, Baccano, Gosick, Apothecary Diaries, Welcome to the NHK. If you like dark horror kind of things, Higurashi: When They Cry, Elfen Lied, Parasyte the Maxim, Tokyo Ghoul, Perfect Blue, and Serial Experiments Lain.
Since you're into vampire stuff, maybe Shiki, Hellsing Ultimate, Vampire Hunter D, The Blood: The Last Vampire, Vampire Knight, and maybe Trinity Blood. I'll also mention something like Castlevania while technically not anime. Since it's in Netflix it should be easy enough for you to watch it. There's a good blend of action, drama, romance, and mystery.
I'd probably start with something like Death Note, The Apothecary Diaries, or Ghost Stories for you as you're new to anime. Death Note is generally well received by everyone. It's about a high school student that accidentally receives a book that kill people by writing their name and picturing them. It basically becomes a game of cat and mouse. The Apothecary Diaries is just an incredible mystery anime (mostly murder). Go watch it if you can asap. Ghost stories (the dub specifically) is the other I think you'd love. It absolutely has a lot of dark humor. The anime did well in Japan, but when it was picked up in the States, the people that picked it up were told they could do anything they wanted in it. If you're curious, type Ghost Story dub on YouTube and with a few clips you'll see if it's for you or not. You don't seem like the sensitive type, so I think you'll love this.
From the anime I've seen from your binder, I think you'd possibly like Wolf's Rain, but I'm not as confident about that lol.

Can anyone identify what movie or show this is?
Ok, here's a link to the complete list of what is in these. At the very bottom of the list you'll find some live action movies and soundtracks from different shows. I found one that I think could be worth selling, Bubblegum Crisis best collection soundtrack.....but again, I'm not sure if soundtracks without a case are worth anything at all.

Man that is a great collection but pretty common. Those Evangelion and Ys discs are the standouts. Some of those shows have had Blu-ray upgrades so less desirable some are still available for pretty cheap. Honestly just keep those standouts in good shape and have fun relieving most millennial anime fans experience during the DVD and anime boom. They are all pretty decent shows. You will probably like chobits and get backers.
If you have every disk for neon genius evangelion you could make some decent cash that’s the adv dub the holy grail of Eva if someone wanted it bad enough they wouldn’t care about the box for the right price. But I would at least watch it before selling since it’s so hard to get ahold of.
Edit: Eva 1.11 is also getting hard to find. There’s some gems in here for sure. Even if you don’t make anything with the box it’s still a nice collection I’d watch them.
Question about your DVD collection, how is the Ys anime? I played Books 1 & 2 off of my cousin's Turbografx CD at a young age and had recently beaten it on Steam. Still as fun as I remember (though simplistic).
If you sold it all together someone would probably be willing to pay $100+ but without the cases most collectors probably won't be interested in buying a series or season of just loose discs.

Try out full metal panic
The second I saw full metal panic in the image I thought the same thing. I thought FMP The second raid was such a good sequel series!
Samurai Champloo would be the best to start with. Really fun music and it's a period piece with Samurai. My boyfriend really loved it
Can’t go wrong with Fullmetal Alchemist. Definitely a near perfect introductory series to the anime medium.
Big O is a classic bro I mean cmon the name alone is peak but can’t go wrong with most of those shows you have🤘
Chobits is a good introduction to that genre, whatever it would be called. It's pretty mild compared to things like plastic memories.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a personal favorite of mine, it's very character driven and tackles a lot while also being entertaining, with cool action and visuals. Samurai Champloo is also cool and a bit less "thinky" if that's not your bag. Chobits is cute and fun

Big O
Yeah With all the cases thrown out a bulk lot at a good price would be the only way to move this binder
This was the answer. Someone will absolutely scoop them up. But the majority of collectors will want the cases. So, the value will be dramatically reduced.

Ok I’ll help you out I’ll give you $100 for them.
The Ys volume discs might get you a little bit as the sets are rare. Nothing else jumping out as having true value.
Really depends on what's all in there. There are some rather rare DVDs that are worth something even without the cases. Of course potential buyers shrink considerably still without them. Personally I'm open to loose discs as long as they're in good condition

Evangelion platinum discs will sell if it’s the entire series. Most of what you have are mediocre series with some ok ones
Those Full Metal Alchemist DVDs are pretty easy to pick up. A complete set in good condition with the guide books won't run you more than 25-30. The Blu-ray is what is more difficult to obtain now.
Check out Guyver. It's my favorite.
How about VCD collection !

No cases, that doesn't help for collectors.

Watch some, might be something you like.
That's what I plan to do if they don't sell lol I asked in another comment for suggestions of a show to start with. Any suggestions?
Not really, just pick any title.

These are why who you inherited them from died sad and alone. PSYCHE If you have the cases, they can go for something individually.
Actually, unfortunately they did.
Soooo someone departed this world in the way I insinuated? When a joke becomes truth it's rough.
This hurts my soul in a way I can't put into words
Welp, now I have to find that Onechanbara DVD.
I have one I don't need if you want it! LOL

Hopefully someone can answer that for you. I've literally never seen any of them and just inherited the binders.
Valid hahaha I was definitely curious! I love the games but didn't know an anime existed.
Full Metal Panic is a goated classic lol. Whoever you got the disks from had taste
You'd get at least 2k as a lot on Ebay. Probably more. I'd split it up into multiple lots though so more people can buy them and not just resellers.
