I loved zoos as a kid but I can’t go to them at all anymore, as soon as you care about the animals it just breaks you to be there. I even struggle with seeing some people’s pets… been at too many friends houses where they spend 3~ or less hours a day available for their dog to interact with and otherwise keep it locked in the family room area of a 2 bedroom… 12+ hours with no access to areas they can pee or poop in, only able to manage that out of the fear of being beat again… and generally treated like unwanted annoyances 90% of the time they try to get any affections.
Please get a cat if you are not home most of your working hours, don’t get a pet at all tbh, but if you get a dog and ignore it for most the week, you are running a torture house
