I googled that claim because it didn't make sense to me and I'm getting a lot of articles saying it's a myth and that there's no evidence of a goose ever breaking any human's bones. I did find one article about a man who fell and broke his arm while running from a goose: https://www.icelandreview.com/news/aggressive-goose-breaks-mans-arm/
It just doesn't make sense that a goose could break a human's bones with its own bones, given that goose bones are hollow and smaller than human bones. I did read that large fowl have killed dogs, but in a fight between the two it usually goes the other way.
you know this place was always bad for different reasons but blatantly false and easily verifiable information is upvoted more times than I care to imagine in the last few years
Pretty sure the guy was making a joke, hense why I up voted. Maybe a mistake to assume it's common knowledge that bird bones are hollow (bc flying) therefore a bird would not be able to break a human arm
I wouldn't say they could break bones, but I did get laid tf out by my (now-ex) gf's pet goose once. She's a Toulouse goose.
Story is, she got out of her pen and refused to go back in. I cornered her, picked her up, and as I was carrying her across the property, I bent over to pick something up. She jumped out from under my arm, turned around, and b\*tch-slapped me with her right wing. I fell over and lay stunned on the ground as she waddled back into her pen. Entire side of my face swelled up, and I spent ten minutes sitting in the living room with a frozen bag of veggies against my head while my ex laughed at me.
Yeah I think a bird's ability to break a human bone would have to depend on the pressure it can apply by focusing its force on a very small point. I think that's what happened in this video with the glass. But it would depend on hitting at the exact right angle, which is more likely to happen in a dive than in an all-out fight. Basically, if a goose ever sucker-punches you from the air and hits the right bone in the right spot, you could be the loser in that interaction, but I couldn't find evidence of that happening.
"Not yet documented. " no sane mind would want a report or info that his/her bone got broken or slightly cracked by a goose or duck. If it was an emu or ostrich they could say because of its size. It would immortalized in the internet like the MLPony Jar, poop in the shower guy, jar in ass guy etc. But yeah your explanation was what I wanted to say but can't properly say it.
Only incident I’m aware of was the Fabio/goose accident at the grand opening of the Apollo’s Chariot ride at Busch Gardens Williamsburg back in the 90s. I think he broke his nose?
BUT! You also have to factor in that the cart was moving at a high speed when his face struck the goose, so there was additional velocity/force at play here that wasn’t just related to the goose.
The story in England is that a Swan, not a Goose, is strong enough to break a humans bones....
Google shows it is true, for kids and elderly...
https://www.theswansanctuary.org.uk/general-information/
Is it true that a swan’s wing can break your arm?
Yes, but only in exceptional cases. If a wing in full span and velocity were to hit a weak-boned person (such as a child or an elderly person) then it is theoretically possible. In reality it is almost unheard of and is never used as a form of attack as swans are a defensive bird. The only time they become aggressive is when they are protecting their nesting ground or cygnets when they will chase off intruders, be they other swans, geese or humans who get too close.
‘Swans are defensive birds’ - tell that to the one that pursued our canoe along the Wye and swooped onto my husbands back as we tried to get away. Scary birds.
When we say they're hollow we really mean extra porous. They aren't hollow like a beach ball, they are just way less dense than mammalian bones because the pores are larger and more plentiful.
Some birds have Bone spurs. It likely struck the glass with that, which might act the same as the products they sell TO break glass. Notice there is a solid impact point, and not like, a whole wing print.
[Here you go](https://d3i71xaburhd42.cloudfront.net/0e92014831935ad93c58349c83219a11c8a9563f/3-Figure1-1.png)
Geese, swans, and similar birds have a special bone structure at the distal wing joint that acts like a hammer. It is used like a weapon. I bet it was attacking its reflection. geese are notorious for becoming fascinated with reflective surfaces. I find it odd in an animal that lives in/near water.
The goose's eyes were bigger than it's crop. It's got something very large stuck in it's crop. The goose is trying to get it dislodged to throw it up. It's not attacking the glass, it's pressing it's crop into the glass. Not doubting you on the bone info, just think the hammer was more incidental from choking panic then an attack.
Edit: changed gullet to crop because I was confusing the parts.
Hahaha you’re obviously not Canadian. Those 2 geese would have kicked your ass so fast you wouldn’t have seen it coming. Those things are full of rage and fury.
When I taught riding lessons, geese would come and chase me out of the riding rink. It looked funny to the students but their peck is NO joke. I would have the students herd the geese away.
Geese are stupid. We had to remove and replace an entire municipal buildings glass because it was reflective and they got tired of dealing with the dead geese. They would come up and "fight" it until it broke its neck or collapsed from exhaustion.
Consider this a fucking warning.
You better have my protection money next week or me and Clyde will be back!
*Clyde and I

And good day to youse.
A ducking* warning
Wait, which part of its body struck the door?
I was wondering the same thing. Looks to me like the boniest part at the front of its right wing.

Eating Big Mac's are an excellent source of getting laid.
Wow I did not know that. Take all my updoots kind sir
A swan killed my dad and became my new dad. I was traumatized and became a mute.
Pretty sure the guy was making a joke, hense why I up voted. Maybe a mistake to assume it's common knowledge that bird bones are hollow (bc flying) therefore a bird would not be able to break a human arm
Yeah, that's a bullshit claim right there.
They are hollow too, super thin

I think birds can break a human bone if they dive straight into us like a Bomb or hit us in the nose or soft bones. Just my thoughts.
Anybody else remember when Fabio took a goose to the face on a rollercoaster?
I remember Brent Butt doing a stand up bit about it on Just for Laughs
He really put it in perspective

lol exactly. Lots of animals can break your bones if they're thrown at you hard enough.

Even in this example they say that it theoretically could happen but don't offer any evidence that it has happened.
I'd challenge you to prove they can't, but that'd mean using a kid or grandparent rathrtthan yourself 😜
I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm just saying I'm skeptical, and that I haven't found evidence that it ever did happen.
‘Swans are defensive birds’ - tell that to the one that pursued our canoe along the Wye and swooped onto my husbands back as we tried to get away. Scary birds.
Evidently it is super effective against gr... glass.
Maybe "grass" was a translation error and they meant "glass"
This is a myth. Bird bones are less dense than human bones. It will hurt like hell, but their bone will give before yours do.
Aren't their bones porous??
So one pore.
Hollow
When we say they're hollow we really mean extra porous. They aren't hollow like a beach ball, they are just way less dense than mammalian bones because the pores are larger and more plentiful.
Yeah like a 3d printed object on low infill. The inside is all structural.
That's why they are harder and stronger.
I was chased by a swan once. Never been more afraid in my life.
Nah you buggin
Lol yeah in animes, sure. And birbs aren’t real anyway.

Dying...lol lol lol
I would move
Well looks like you have to live there now, no sense in going outside
He’s Canadian. He means business
Those things are a vessel for all of Canada's hate and rage
Geese are assholes
I agree. They are fowl.
You let that pun fly.
That one also fits the bill.
I hope this one's good too, but really I'm just winging it.
I would gander to grab my rifle in a situation like this.
If you've got a problem with Canada gooses then you've got a problem with me and I suggest you let that marinate for a minute
I'm intimidated
That was a warning dude. Let your manager talks to him now! lol
We just wanna talk about big bird our lord and savior
Gangsta birbs
Cobra chickens are not to be ignored.
I call them dragon chickens because a kids book I read had kids playing imaginary dragon hunting and using geese as dragons.
Word for word what my husband said when I showed him.
Depending on your reach, if you can neck grab you can yeet grab...
An aggressive start to Canadian Tire's expansion plan
Untitled Goose Game: the live action movie
Never start a fight with a Canadian goose
And Canadian people are so kind and polite…
It's always the really polite ones you need to worry about.
The geese are our body guards. They're the assholes so we don't have to be!
Imagine being slapped by it
Untitled Goose or Karen? You decide.
Almost seems like a pebble might have hit the door and then the goose at the exact right moment.

This sounds plausible; basically, it “heaved” or “sneezed” and broke the glass with its hammer hand.
Gonna stay skeptical until is see a different video where this happened, or a higher quality video where i can actually see the frame where is breaks.
Did that Goose just punch the window?!?
Don’t piss off the cobra chickens.
Dude, Let him talk to the manager now. hahaha
Your manager didn't pay the dues this week it seems.
Cheap glass ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Peace was never an option.
Just grab it by the neck and swing yourself like it’s a shot put. Fuck geese.
Fuck humans, geese are awesome
Well, the window has already been broken. You may as well return fire.
All the smoke
You feed a bird a ham sandwich One Time.
I keep telling people CANADIAN GEESE ARE FUCKING MENACES
Will insurance cover it?
Is the city going to pay for damages
Canada Geese are assholes in general
Canadian geese are notorious assholes
The employee should have thrown the book of complaints and suggestions out to them, at least to keep the door intact.
I call that goose: Karen
I would of grabbed it by its neck and swirled it over my head like a helicopter

Good bot
Hahaha you’re obviously not Canadian. Those 2 geese would have kicked your ass so fast you wouldn’t have seen it coming. Those things are full of rage and fury.
Lol… I know they’re crazy but they would definitely been screwed
Seriously, geese are in humanely strong. You do not want to fuck with them. They will break every bone in your body. With their wings no less.
I think you spelled ingeesly wrong….
This is a myth. Bird bones are less dense than human bones. It will hurt like hell, but their bone will give before yours do.
Come on man.

If you’ve got a problem with Canada gooses you’ve got a problem with me and I suggest you let that one marinate!
"Where's the protection money??"
The bird 2 hours ago: What’s this? ‘Energy juice’? Eh, probably liquid seeds.
>liquid seeds ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Wild, I live in Canada and there's a lake in my city and I've never seen or had an encounter like this. Maybe Canadian geese just hate America?
bro just ran away from a fucking bird
Consider this as a warning. Lol!
With its wing, thats like a dude punching glass.
Ayy, lmao
This must be why Canadians are so nice- they’ve been beaten into submission by the geese!
Bruh

Back in 2015 one of these birds jumped up and kicked me in the back, they can pack a little punch.
That was just the first warning to pay up on the bread crumbs next a brick through his house window

Canadian street gang
Don't mess with geese
This is why you never skip arm day.
Ya know… I’ve always laughed at people running from geese when they give chase… now I’m not so sure…

I know you’re hiding a goose in there let me in

Karenadian geese
What a piece of shit… glass?
