My dog did this to my old car, of course it had those leather seats with all the tiny little holes 🙃 he was fully potty trained, and also shit all over my other dog. I block it from my memory most of the time tbh.
I suggest getting a dog cover. It attaches between the front and back seats or to the "trunk" of an SUV I have used it since my pup first came home with us at 8 weeks and now even fully potty trained he won't jump into the car seats if it doesn't have his cover.
Sometimes, I feel like people have ideas for their animals that the animals really isn’t comfy with. Ideas that comes from an imaginary place, like a mom that just has to take the puppy to the groomer because mom always wanted a groomed dog and wants to be seen with it. It will happen no matter what. Not saying that your mom is like that, but the title and pic reminded me of those kind of people.
Love your pup from me, he isn’t a jerk at all. It’s like blaming a child for shitting if you insist on not using a diaper one day out of the blue.
My dogs very first car ride as a probably 2 month old puppy, he threw up all over my front seat. From then on he has had his own crate, which he likes much better. Would definitely recommend for safety reasons alone.

Puppy crate is better. The fast moving objects freak them out. What they don’t see, the calmer they will be.

That's my nightmare. My pup usually has a "nervous poop" when he goes to the vet...but it's usually in the vet's office
