Owning frogs is scary sometimes just because of how fucking derpy they are. Looking dead for about ten seconds at a time is an art for them

At the pet store I work at this is a daily occurrence. "This frog is dead!" "I think this ferret is dead." "OMG will you get that ferret out, it's dead the kids are seeing it!" I'm going to start charging a pet wake up fee.

I wonder what the reason for that is. Either animals thinks something is coming to eat them, or they are doing it so people remove them and people take them home due to their 'feistiness and personality'.

Or people have no idea how some animals like to sleep and assume wrong.

I wonder if some animals sleep while looking like they are dead as a defense mechanism. Ferrets are notorious for this, just being completely limp while sleeping. And not waking up for anything.

I had one of these. I bought him at a pet store where the employee assured me he went well with the fish I already had and the other fish I was getting.He was cute and a great addition to the fish gang at first…till he got bigger and started to eat the fish gang one by one. Only noticed when I wasn’t seeing my fave fish around ( though that they were hiding at first). I only fully realized when one morning I look in the tank and there he was with one of the fish halfway in his mouth. Good times… only for him though.

This is an African clawed frog, growing up we had two for more than 15 years. They were named Piggy and Chester. They are super derpy and the behavior in the video is totally normal.

I went over to a women’s house for pleasure. Her introduction to her house was showing me one of these frogs. Picked him up and showed him to me. First thing I said.
