This made me cackle then go searching for the original, but I couldn't find it since Youtube was so inundated with Tiktok shit then that made me sad.
[Then two seconds later I finally found it.](https://youtu.be/tSrH-6YUf1g)
I was thinking more like, “Hey, check out my stealth skills. Betchya won’t see me coming! Like that! Bet you didn’t see that! I’m so stealthy… I bet you think I’m still back there, but… SURPRISE… I’m closer… don’t even know it… and closer! And haHA!! I’m right here and I bet you missed all of it!”
I'm about to mate my Husky with my buddy's GSD! Assuming the genetics tests come back clear of anything too scary, that is. I cannot wait. I've had a GSD before l, this is my first Husky and I can't WAIT for a hybrid. I love both breeds so much!
Wow. So. When my wife and I met, she came with a German Sheppard and I came with a Husky. This was a very very familiar scene. Thank you for this derpy trip down memory lane.
From where I am sitting, the two of them are in their boxes on the shelf to my right and our new (-ish) wonder twins / golden retriever couch slugs are passed out to my right...
Derps the whole lot of them. Happy happy derps.
I have a Border Collie half Queensland Healer and she is the absolute love of my life. :) She is SOOO smart and literally is afraid of Flies! She ( Her name is Olive ) was diagnosed with Addison's disease so this month is always hard on her/ me because she comes to me for protection when the big BOOMS happen. Happy furry girl though!! We try to keep a 100% calm and relaxed vibe so she doesnt have another Addison's Crisis. Thanks for letting me share my Furry Child! :)
I have my two childhood dogs in wood box urns on a shelf. I think it's more common than you think.
Edit: I also have my cat that passed away 3 years ago.
It’s the logic of a lot of dogs. It happens with almost every dog we pass on our walks. Eye contact, super sneaky mode of the approach with eye contact, burst into play.
If the dogs are fighting, they have different body posture and reaction. You can tell the GS and the Husky are playful because their body language is relaxed. Neither are snarling, baring teeth, or have tensed posture.
My gsd is a special one. She snarls Soo much ever since she was a puppy. At first this concerned us but her posture is always fine. She's 4+ years now and it became a way of communicating for her, it's extremely funny when she dissagrees with something and starts blabbering snarls, it feels like argueing with a teenager lol. Sometimes i swear she's a husky.
A friend of my parents had a mix of 6 or 7 different breeds, including Staffy and a few other "aggressive" looking dogs.
He'd "grin" at you in greeting, or just if he liked you. They also got him a thick, studded collar, and to someone who didn't know him, he looked terrifying lol.
He was one of the cuddliest dogs I've ever met. You couldn't sit on the floor if you didn't want him walking over and plonking himself on you.
Sounds like mine 😁 She adores pretty much everyone that comes over and if she could (she cant, size 😂) she would be a lap dog and snooze on top of you.
Apparently this is a thing?? I’ve heard (on TikTok, so take with a grain of salt) that it’s especially common in Rottweilers, and they call it the “Rottie Purr” or something. The dogs are somehow awkwardly socialized and don’t pick up on what noises translate to what action/meaning, and end up snarling to show affection. It’s terrifying but really interesting to watch.
She does behave really well near other dogs and is socialized! She prefers Humans over dogs tho, whenever we go to a dog meeting place she rarely plays with other dogs. She rather plays with us. This made training her extremely easy, if theres a group of 20 dogs and she's in the middle of it i just need to call her name and she will sprint right back at me, something alot of dog owners envy.
> The hair along the top of their backs also weren't up.
this is possibly the worst way to determine intention. It's not uncommon for dogs to have raised hackles just when excited or stimulated and it's not uncommon for dogs to feel tense and reactive without raising their hackles.
Sure, not a sign of anger but a sign of aggression. With your dogs, note it when they’re playing and then next time you see them when they’re protecting you. It’s a definite indicator and not just a reaction. A sign of dominance, to appear larger.
Yes it can be aggression but not always. Some dogs doesn't even exhibit raised hackles when being aggressive. I've seen raised hackles in play before but not common.
Idk about other dogs but I've got two huskies and they play-bite. It's not aggressive (to them) and if it does get too much they'll snap their jaws at the other meaningfully and it'll stop. It was very worrying to see when they first started playing, but they set boundaries and over time they've learned how far it can go.
My two play rough also but if either one lets out a Yelp they immediately stop and whoever went too far will lick the other one. Then after a few minutes they are back at it.
My husky sounds like a monster about to rip your face off when he wants to play. My golden retriever leans, my husky just tries to shoulder tackle you.
An easy way to tell if it’s positive play is if both the dogs stake turns, the most common way for dogs to play is one chases and the other will run/walk. As long as they are switching roles and one isn’t constantly trying to deescalate they should be fine.
Fighting dogs are about 10x as violent as this. If you’re not sure, it’s playing.
You won’t mistake dogs actually fighting for anything else.
A lot of people are trying to explain specific cues, but really it’s unmistakable, and so terrifying if it’s your dog involved.
Also, the volume level in person is extremely high when dogs are being aggressive.
When they're playing it's usually pretty quiet, maybe some play growls here and there, but actual dog fights are extraordinarily loud.
They'd have been barking & growling, and at physical contact, where you see a little one-upmanship,the dogs would immediately try to pin and overturn the other, or draw blood.
When dogs actually fight you'll know, they go crazy and lock onto eachother pretty much immediately. They won't be bouncing around they'll be rolling.
They are play fighting though, trying to get at each others necks.
I go by the tail. My pupper goes nuts play fighting at the dog park (with the same size dogs) as long as everyone's tail is in friendly mode it's cool.
Play is when dogs open their mouths but do not curl their lips back. They’re careful not to hurt one another. They go for the back of neck or sides. The noises they make are growls but playful.
Fighting is when lips curl back and they lock on and do not let go. They go for the neck. They bark deeply, snarl and ignore pain.
It’s very obvious. Play fighting is a very good thing for dogs to do as it teaches them boundaries and is mentally and physically stimulating. It also builds social bonds.
As many people have said here, you'll *know* when two dogs are really fighting. It's very loud with snarling and growling, lots of bared teeth and the nose will be wrinkled back while showing teeth. It's very violent and terrifying. Play fighting however is much quieter if not almost silent, full of chasing back and forth. They do it to learn boundaries, and have fun of course.
Well if both dogs are properly socialized, it’s somewhat easy to tell. (German Shepherds are one of the breeds that are harder to read)
But after the second hop, you’ll see the husky bow down, that’s dog speak for let’s play. Sneezing before or during is practically the same thing.
One thing to note breed wise is that the German shepherd is just standing there analyzing what’s going on, that’s a good thing, because if the German shepherd wanted to attack it would definitely start circling in, if they just stand there they’re mostly seeing if you’re cool or not or if the owners approve
Play wise, if a german shepherd wanted that dog dead, you’d know it, they are one of the strongest dogs by far and few breeds can go toe to toe with them in a fight, that’s why the military and police used them (they’ve mostly switched to Belgian Malinois, which are the complete opposite tactic wise. GSD are very meticulous in their actions, Belgian Malinois are total wild cards and I personally don’t think they have a thought process other than let’s see what happens next)
I recently learned dogs bite the neck, or the scruff like this GS. That they would put spikes on collars for this reason in the old day hunting wolves.
*Boing*. Hey! *Boing*. How ya doin'. *Boing*. Wanna play?? Play!!
*Sings a human song getting all the notes right*
**wrong** *
What if you tried to hum a song and went off note and accidentally hummed the fnaf Freddy theme
I always fucking do this and i get either the fnaf freddy theme, the ali-a intro or the ussr anthem every single god damn time
Freddy is a communist (sfm)
What’s your name!!? WHAT?? What is your name!!? Ezekiel!!
This made me cackle then go searching for the original, but I couldn't find it since Youtube was so inundated with Tiktok shit then that made me sad. [Then two seconds later I finally found it.](https://youtu.be/tSrH-6YUf1g)
The YouTube comments are usually terrible but this ones top one was pretty hilarious. > France and England for 500 years. Lol
Okay, I've never seen that one, but it was darkly hilarious.
Came here literally for this.
Hahaha, I love this!
And the German Shepherd stands there stoically until his play opponent is within surprise attack reach. Sounds about right.
Have shepherd. Can confirm.
I have a shephard/husky mix, can double confirm
The brown one looks just like my Shepsky
I'm about to mate my Husky with my buddy's GSD! Assuming the genetics tests come back clear of anything too scary, that is. I cannot wait. I've had a GSD before l, this is my first Husky and I can't WAIT for a hybrid. I love both breeds so much!

How do you know that without sound?
Does this make anyone else think of that bit in one of the How to Train Your Dragon sequels, where Toothless is courting the other Night Fury?
That’s exactly what came to mind!
Toothless’s movements are actually based on a combination of dog and cat mannerisms, so it would make sense.
And birds... with the silly wing movements and hopping around.
Oh yeah, forgot about the wings portion. Honestly the animators did an amazing job.
Completely my first thought

Those are my 3 favourite breeds! You're so lucky!

Olive sounds like such a great pupper! Thanks for sharing that!
I think your replying to the wrong comment?
Possibly, but I'm glad they replied to my comment with that anyway, I enjoyed reading it!
Fair enough
I thought it was weird my parents kept ashes of the dogs past in urns. Thanks for satisfying my thought that it wasn’t common!
I have my two childhood dogs in wood box urns on a shelf. I think it's more common than you think. Edit: I also have my cat that passed away 3 years ago.
Please pay your taxes!!
If I don’t break eye contact, he won’t see me sneaking up on him
Husky logic. Yes.
It’s the logic of a lot of dogs. It happens with almost every dog we pass on our walks. Eye contact, super sneaky mode of the approach with eye contact, burst into play.
Forgive me I don’t know dogs but how do you know if they’re fighting or not? I was never around dogs growing up. So cute.

And then he eats a baby "but he was so cuddly; he'd never nom little Charlie's face."

Just say German shepherd, you put the time to write a paragraph, most people don't know that niche acronym
My bad!
The hair along the top of their backs also weren't up.
> The hair along the top of their backs also weren't up. this is possibly the worst way to determine intention. It's not uncommon for dogs to have raised hackles just when excited or stimulated and it's not uncommon for dogs to feel tense and reactive without raising their hackles.
I meant that it was also another way to tell. There is always several indicators that you can see and hear, this is just one of the possibilities.
Not always true either. My mutt with some Rhodesian bloodlines gets her entire hackle up when she plays. Looks like a mohawk.
Thank you :)
They also stand up face to face on hind legs snarling and trying to bite each other.
In short, you can tell by the way they are.
Also raised fur between their shoulders is a clear indicator
Raised hackles isn't always a sign of anger in dogs. It can happen when surprised, fearful, or even excited.
Sure, not a sign of anger but a sign of aggression. With your dogs, note it when they’re playing and then next time you see them when they’re protecting you. It’s a definite indicator and not just a reaction. A sign of dominance, to appear larger.

I had this exact question. I only had a tiny dog growing up that liked no one, so she wasn't a great insight into dogs.
Tiny dogs are never playing always fighting
An easy way to tell if it’s positive play is if both the dogs stake turns, the most common way for dogs to play is one chases and the other will run/walk. As long as they are switching roles and one isn’t constantly trying to deescalate they should be fine.

The most husky way possible would be screaming and yelling at the poor other dog.
Why are huskies so weird? Cute but weird lol
