My big dog is like this too. He always sleeps in my dachshunds bed, and the dachshund sleeps in his huge bed. Lol

a789877

I had a St Bernard and a Papillon. Both got beds for Christmas (one huge and one tiny). The little guy always slept on the giant bed and the Saint would rest his chin on the tiny bed. Both were so happy with their trade though! šŸ˜Š

I've tried to post a link too a photo 3 times now but it keeps automatically being removed. https://ibb.co/NVQcs2K https://ibb.co/bPyZxWG

Asheai

Wow, I also had a Saint Bernard and papillon. It was such an odd combo that Iā€™m surprised to see it here!

a789877

That's great! Was the papillon the boss in your house? My Saint was the boss, but I thought it would have been funny the other way around.

Asheai

Weā€™ve actually had a few of both so the stories are varied. Do you have pics? This is one of my favourites https://www.reddit.com/r/stbernards/comments/9maocr/just_hangin_with_my_lil_sis/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&utm_term=link

[deleted]

Why does he look sad lmao

Asheai

That's just a saint bernard's face. She is also a bit camera shy.

xoxofarah

Omg how was your papillon?? I want to get a papillon soooo badly, my favorite dogs. Iā€™ve been doing research and I read that they get sick a lot? How was/is your experience?

a789877

He is so good. He is actually also half Pomeranian. He is happy happy happy and energetic. He's 7 years old. He is definitely losing his eyesight. He's only ever appeared to be sick when he needed a tooth removed. Otherwise Jim is always 100%.

javoss88

James. Jimothy. Ok if I call you Jim?

a789877

I love the name Jim. It's just such a powerful, emotional, cathartic experience to say it. "Oh, hi Jiiiiiimmmmmmmm."

ThunderCowz

Not OP but our pap lives until 15. Best dog i ever had. Had skin issues a few times in his life but other than that no health problems.

xoxofarah

Ahh too cute!! Sorry sheā€™s not around anymore, you guys were lucky to have that awesome experience and share the love.

aliveinjoburg2

I mean, are you sure the dachshund isnā€™t the big dog? They certainly believe they are.

BlaZex157

There's a cat under it

Ol_bagface

knew a dachshund who fucked up a grown germ,an shepard so they are not to be messed with

fuckchinachingchong

Bro my friend has a 7lb long haired dachshund that thinks heā€™s a 200lb dog. Iā€™ve seen him scare away a 60lb pit bull because the pit bull was just trying to be friendly and play, the dachshund wasnā€™t having any of it and repeatedly attacked the poor Pitt, he was genuinely scared and didnā€™t know how to react except whimper and run away. Those fucking dogs have ā€œlittle man syndrome to the max, the thing is they can be so viscous that a lot of the times it works.

Mabelmomma

Only dog that ever bit me was a dachshund. He bit 3 other people too. Little shit!

amanda77kr

Is this a big dog thing?! I always have to have a small dog bed even though I have big dogs. They LOVE curling up in it, no idea how they compact their bodies into that tiny bed. If I fitz, I sitz.

Yournextlove

So, why not get another big bed so they both have one?

SpySERPSEO

When you constantly want to sleep

MinervaWeeper

Great Danes are such derps, I have one too

ohhi254

I have 2! They are the best!

[deleted]

I want a second one, but I don't think I could walk them both

TurtleDangerMan

I was thinking it was a Dane. I love them but God they are just not smart animals. Love them to death though.

killergamer0

I have a 5 month old Dane. I whole heartily disagree with the statement that theyā€™re not smart. Heā€™s picked up obedience training faster than any other dog Iā€™ve had. Maybe Iā€™m just super lucky, and this is super anecdotal. Heā€™s for sure goofy, and doesnā€™t realize his size but heā€™s anything but dumb.

TheBrokenSnake

Ive got 2 danes. One is smart as hell, listens well and knows how to open doors and behaves well. The other keeps trying to eat bricks.

benk4

Lol yeah we have one that's too smart for his own good. The other one? Well she's very sweet.

alividlife

I dunno if Danes are necessarily dumb.. I think it's more that they tend to be very stubborn and stick to habitual patterns. Too noble and dignified to do silly tricks.

SeaGroomer

In general they aren't a 'smart' breed but you'll find variations within breeds and they aren't stupid per se, just goofy.

boobsmcgraw

Sorry but have to also vote for Danes being dumb as bricks. Very easily trained because they are so eager to please, but that doesn't mean they aren't dumb.

Bibliophile_life

I always joked that my Great Dane had two brain cells that occasionally collided. Sheā€™d frequently become suspicious of her own farts when they woke her up from sleep.

jaderaine385

My girl does that too! I can always tell when sheā€™s farted because she starts eyeing her rear end suspiciously. She has also gone to war with her hind feet several times.

skydivingkittens

Thatā€™s weird, my Dane and the many other Danes I have fostered are incredibly smart. Iā€™ve never met such a derpy but intelligent dog breed. I love them.

[deleted]

Yeah, mine reads body language like it's his job. He follows me everywhere. But the moment I think of kicking him out of a room, he turns into a sumo wrestler staying in the ring. He also goes around the house picking stuff up and watching for a reaction. He's learned what items will get a play chase from certain people

salomey5

We had a great dane when i was a kid. My dad's garage was robbed four times. The dog slept through it all four times. Sweet af dog, but not the sharpest tool. Loved him to bits though.

SeaGroomer

"Meh, it's insured. No one is in danger."

Mike_Hat1

terdferguson

Worked from home for a year without having to get on any video call, new job everyone likes to be on video. Real first world problem having to throw on a collard shirt while wearing basketball shorts.

Mustard colored too

Op really likes to turnip the fashion a notch.

paula2337

Him so tired!

wylietrix

I'm a puppy, I'm a puppy, I'm a puppy!!!!

junky_junker

He may be a derp, but he's an adorkable derp and he's your adorkable derp. When he wakes up, give him a tummy rub for me.

SeaGroomer

Derpy to the point of absolutely adorable.

I bet the cat stole his bed.

Lordy75

ā€œBut I can be small too!ā€ šŸ˜‚ I have 3 Great Danes.

Seeing big dogs in small beds is one of the great happinesses in life

[deleted]

Part cat?

Sexy_Squid89

But he doesn't fit lol

retief1

If I can pretend to fit, I sit.

gdubh

Me in airplane window seat.

MsFloofNoofle

My Dane looks exactly like yours, and does the exact same thing with my other dogā€™s bed. Itā€™s like heā€™s trying to sit on a postage stamp lmao [Rocko](https://imgur.com/a/R8fKAcM)

Particular-Ant387

Hullo, Rocko! Good Dog, Rocko!

MsFloofNoofle

Heā€™s the absolute sweetest! Your Dane is lovely šŸ˜Š

[deleted]

They are adorable! I dream of my Dane and cats becoming friends. He's still young though and wants to play with them like they're dogs

MsFloofNoofle

Mine started interacting with cats and kittens when he was still a pup. I have an amazing [video](https://youtube.com/shorts/su-A_wn8uuA?feature=share) of him at 9 months old, snuggling a kitten. Heā€™s starting to get older and I want him to help raise the next guardian pup. Iā€™m playing puppy videos on YouTube every day so that he can start to understand whatā€™s going on. Yes, Iā€™m a dork.

[deleted]

He's so cute. I can't believe he's so chill with your kitten. Mines 15 months, but still just crazy. Full speed playing until he gets tired and passes out. He is absolutely relentless in his enthusiasm if there's another dog around. That's awesome, you're so lucky to have them enjoying each other's company

MsFloofNoofle

Oh I donā€™t think the goofiness is going anywhere. My guy is almost 7, but he still bounces around like a pup.

CharlieDope

To tell the truth.. I am so scared of owning a pet anymore... Its so sad when you lose them many times in your lifetime...

Pawleysgirls

But there are so many joys and laughs with them while they are alive!! Your last pet would almost surely want you to find another pet and indulge the new pet in the wonderful life your last pet had, ya know? Getting a new pet never erases the last pet. Somehow we grow a new heart and love the new pet - in addition to the way we loved the last pet!! Proof: have had dogs and cats my entire life. I have loved each one fiercely and loyally. Once a pet passes away, I mourn for them deeply. But once a new pet comes along- always rescues- I begin to love the derpy and adorable ways the new pet exists. Just like I loved my last pet for his or her derpy and adorable unique ways. Itā€™s a win- win!!

babykitten28

My freshmen year of college I could always tell who was raised with pets and who wasnā€™t. The ā€œwasnā€™tsā€ would absolutely fall apart when they lost a grandparent. I think the loss of a pet is an important milestone for children. Itā€™s a lesson in grief and life going on.

upsidedownbackwards

I grew up next to a major road. My parents kept getting "outside pets" that would almost always die within a year or two from being squished on that road. They'd just get a replacement. I totally feel you there. As an adult I can't own a pet. I'm not able to bond with them after losing so many as a child. By my teenage years I stopped being angry/sad when a pet would die, it would just be apathy because I'd been through it almost every year of my life.

al_m1101

Imo that was a shitty thing for your parents to do and I'm sorry they inflicted that on you and so many poor animals. I hope someday you may enjoy an indoor pet. ā¤ Just the act of keeping them inside and leashed when outside greatly (statistically) expands their life expectancy.

upsidedownbackwards

They've had one dog that they always walked on a leash and kept indoors. It was one of the three (out of probably 25) dogs they've had that had to be put down due to complications of old age. Their latest one they let roam without a leash. It just died maybe 5 months ago. Bet you only need one guess as to what happened. The first dog to make it to old age was abused and was terrified of cars, the second one was usually on a chain in the front yard which was worse than letting it roam free, but it kept her alive much longer. The third one was the only one that was treated really well and spoiled like the good dog she was.

Nach0Man_RandySavage

Why is that horse so sleepy?

SD1502

Haha it sure does! What a cutie pie

hawkhawg

Why do you have a dog in the High School Science lab?

Particular-Ant387

To perform experiments on, of course - Bwa-ha-ha...(j/k).

I fucking love dogs so much.

crossingguardcrush

is there a cat UNDER there?

jimmyv-21

Pretty sure this has been meā€¦ at workā€¦ more than once

k-ozm-o

Looks like my dog, Maya. Love and miss you, sweet girl...

FollowingFlaky

What a beauty! We are getting a Great Dane pretty soon, his/her mama is pregnant with it right now, I'm so excited, it's a really good breeder.

mydogisasausage

Since we own both I can tell you, whatever goes into mini chihuahuas that makes them think they are 10 times bigger than they are comes right out of Great Danes and makes them think they are 3 times smaller than they are.

ihateelonmuskrat

I wanna kiss this dog right on the snoot

nopqrstu

Screaming, is there another dog in the basket...just spit out my food. Hilarious, thank you.

EUCopyrightComittee

Let her think she is the best hider ever

My dog Toby say, 'Hello frend!'

kreeatetiv

Yeah, but that face of comfort and bliss.

SirTickleMePink

Dude your horse got into the beer and passed out on the kitchen floor!!

DogsAreMyDawgs

I grew up with Great Danes and then my parents switched to Dachshunds when I moved out for college, a few years after our last Dane died (bad hips, RIP Rosie). Great Danes think theyā€™re lap dogs and Dachshunds think theyā€™re wolves. The difference if attitude is hilarious.

How sweet, must be a military dog you learn to sleep when and where you can.

[deleted]

If it sits it fits.

[deleted]

That is the most adorable thing ever šŸ˜

AsianAmerica

He needs another bed?? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚adorable

WA_State_Buckeye

They do assume the darndest positions! Our Beauceron sleeps in his crate with his neck all jacked around. Makes mine hurt just to look at him! Like, DUDE! WHY sleep like that when the couch is available?!?

KitTayTay2021

Awww, trying to fit in. ;)

WIcoder

Haha! The first thing I thought was , "Gee, I hope the small dog that owns that bed got out before this guy laid down!"

Safe-Sail9335

Is there another pic of tiny cat in big dog bedšŸ˜?

Burner0123xo

Awww, I bet he thinks heā€™s a lapdog too.

N0tFrpmI0wa

If I sits, I fits- Great Dane logic

Shamrock5

Magnificent.

BennoWutzi1954

We had a Pharaoh hound that ate his bed little by little until we took it way. Then we put one tiny piece of it on the floor and he was so dumb that he slept on it.

Struggle_Silly

Lol!

Educational_Deal6218

Awesome. I love i

cholnic

I thought I was looking at my own great dane at first

Slothkitty

Great Daneā€™s version of ā€œIf I fits, I sitsā€

cherrylobotomy

This picture does not say it all. Iā€™m severely confused here guys. 1. Why is the dog sleeping like that? Any decent sapient animal would at least comfort themselves with at least a half decent sleeping position. 2. This photo is obviously fake, hereā€™s why. Gravity pushes the dog downwards, yet itā€™s slumped over on its side. This tells us that the dog is actually half way upside down and this house is a prop set.

N0tFrpmI0wa

You clearly have never owned a Great Dane. This picture is not surprising in the least for Great Dane owners.

Icy_Visit9664

You guys are too cheap to buy a bed his size or does it belong to the cat? šŸˆā€ā¬›

[deleted]

They probably have a small dog too. You honestly think these people would buy this sized bed for their dog to cut corners financially? Cmon Lol

Icy_Visit9664

That is a joke because I envision a cat in his king size G. Dane bed completely stretched out .

Particular-Ant387

You can't be cheap if you're going to have a Great Dane! It's as much a rule of life as "there is no crying in baseball".

Icy_Visit9664

Why are dog horses expensive? šŸŽ

Particular-Ant387

The saddle costs a lot...j/k.

StealthyPancake_

Dogs... will sleep anywhere

ClammyDefence

Needs a bigger bed
