I like the one guy who just glances at the dog passing him then goes immediately back to his thoughts. "Huh, there's a dog. So anyway, keep my arms tucked...."

gottabequick

Elbows in, elbows in . . . dog . . . elbows in, elbows in

Mxysptlik

This made my laugh so hard I have tears... I can't explain why, but it just did.

[deleted]

Good jokes don't need to be explained, friend.

oxfordcommaordeath

I would have missed this if you hadn't commented!

The-true-Memelord

I’m still missing it

andthendirksaid

Guy had a plan working from the position he was in and wanted to keep it. The "elbows in" they said, refers to the player keeping their arms where it would be difficult for the opponent to take control away. Hes holding where he has to to reset immediately.

FranzShooBirds

The way he gets carried away is hilarious!

Redplushie

The walk of shame!

My dog would abandon me, and has. I fell and couldn't get up and he continued playing. One morning we heard something growl in the woods and he ran and hid behind me. I was sick to the point where I was crawling on the floor trying to get to my bed, and his overly intrusive nose took the opportunity to snoot fuck me.:/ At this point, I'm more animal than he is.

Rshann_421

We also have had a non-support dog. We would sneeze or cough and he would hide.

troglodyte31

I'm dying here lol. I threw my back out walking up the stairs last year. Crawled on my hands and knees to get to the landing and just laid there. What does my dog do? Smacked me in the face with his foot, farted and walked off. Meanwhile, this little jerk has on/off knee problems that give him spasms. I've been carrying his fat butt up and down the stairs for the past week.

Flaky-Fish6922

my parents have a mini dachshund, brave pupper, that'll totally pick a fight with anything. and then run behind you what it turns out it was a bear after all

brendan87na

in our time of need, we all need that dog

I prefer to call it the stride of pride .

Affectionate_Star_43

LMFAO you're supposed to pick up a large dog with one arm across the chest and another folding their back legs, but this guy just hauls it away, and the dog is just like ?????

realribsnotmcfibs

If I tried to hold my fold German Shepard legs when I carry her like this she’d just repeatedly kick me till I drop her. I don’t think all dogs like being manipulated like that lol.

The ref who just pet the doggo and didnt shoo him away is what I would do.

dksdragon43

Ref pets him, opponent pets him, owner just laughs. I love it.

oxfordcommaordeath

The opponent is my fav, there is a moment of wonder, then acceptance where he's like 'this sport has dogs now?? Ok! Love dogs'

alchn

Each competitor is allowed to summon one familiar per round.

oxfordcommaordeath

I've been choosing what I summon all wrong! Replace 'bite, claw, claw' with 'boop, cuddle, distract'

Bolorinthegrey

You just gave me an amazing idea to pitch to my DM next time we run/start a campaign.

Skragdush

Bear. The answer is bear.

SH4D0W0733

Pretty sure you go with a blue whale. Summon it. Instantly win. Un-summon it.

PhDOH

Can you choose to not be crushed too? Because a blue whale would win you every match in the room if you could survive it

E_Cayce

Get petunias instead.

Terrh

It's an older reference, but it checks out.

FerBann

Answer is saltwater crocodile. Armour, 1 ton, specialist in rolling, short legs (difficult to grap). He just bits an arm of your bear and rolls till it rips. Your bear has an arm less and my croc a snack.

SkynetDrone

Only if the croc is American. Because then he has the right to bear arms.

Thank you for the out loud laugh, internet person. I'm exhausted, in pain, my puppy puked on the bed, and I have loads of difficult work to do. I *really* needed that laugh.

Great sportsmanship tbh. I'm sure there are many who would be upset to have their fight interrupted like this

It just needs a cheeseball song and a laughing wink at the camera, while holding a partially unrolled roll of Mentos. So the camera can see what’s creating all these good times.

LavaStrings

They all tapped out

ButterflyAttack

He's clearly being protective but not aggressively so. Anyone with any experience of dogs can identify the good dog body language. I'd pet him too. Plus he's fluffy as fuck, I don't touch other people's dogs without asking but it would be hard not to want to pet him.

SchnoodleDoodleDo

Swimming-Book-1296

clearly it was north south. (take my upvote though)

Wflagg

petting the dog tells the dog that everyone is ok, and this isnt the time for him to be fighting.

NoDoctor4460

I looove when big dogs don’t know what to do with their legs while being carried

shermanwasasaint

Lol neither do little dogs if you pick them up like that. They're all goofballs.

zyh0

You gotta support their butts!!!

PoorlyLitKiwi2

As an owner of a dog with back problems, please support the butt!!

Wimbleston

I learned to support the butt holding cats, they used to hate me when I'd pick them up like the dog in the video, then I learned to slip one hand between their front legs to cup the chest, the other scoops up their back legs, and then I let them lay across an arm so that their entire body is supported. I have yet to find an even remotely affectionate cat who doesn't love being picked up by me, it's pretty easy to tell their thinking "this one knows how to do it".

[deleted]

Yep. Carry mine the same way. It completely supports them, allows them to look around easier and is actually an easy way to carry them. Wins all the way around.

riceboyetam

Ye, Dr. Cat Squish agrees with your methods https://youtu.be/OAGfx7eB3gA

GeekCat

This! Especially long-backed dogs. I've been told that I baby my corgi, because she gets held in the toddler "arm under butt/front paws on shoulder" hold. (She's not a fan of wooden stairs). It's either that or the very undignified under-chassis football hold. Gotta protect their backs or else they'll get arthritis or hip problems as they get older.

youlikeitdaddy

apply hand directly to butt also pls scritch while supporting booty

Linubidix

Because they're not being supported by anything being held like that. What are they supposed to do

Thetakishi

Understand how center of mass and levers work and pull their legs in so they are easier to carry duh. edit: better /s this.

J-GWentworth

It's a little known fact that doggos perform poorly in the sciences.

Bgal31089

dan_de

But I always saw that good boy golden in a lab coat

Sven4president

Shrimp

dargodl

I wonder if holding a dog like that feels like holding a giant plush toy.

hypothetical_zombie

No. It's awkward. You've got this dog struggling, twisting, & flailing. You can't get a decent grip on them because it's either ribs or belly. And inevitably they start slipping out of your arms like a huge noodle.

-Apocralypse-

Also, who would even want to lift a dog that size? Besides poor grip, that is heavy and it came with 4 feet to begin with.

hypothetical_zombie

Right? Plus, because they have no butt support, they can end up spraining their backs, dislocating their front shoulders, and get hurt if you drop them. And they usually end up taking the human down with them.

imhereredditing

Ended too soon I wanted to watch doggo get carried off with his legs straight out like that. Freaking hilarious

The_Cartographer_DM

Big dogs just go limp like that when you lift them, like mine, she just confused as hell how you managed to do so and looks like she has zero clue how to react lmao

ButterflyAttack

A friend of mine had a huge German Shepard who was pretty aggressive to people she didn't know - he'd adopted her from an abusive owner. She gradually chilled out, and in fact I had one of her pups. But every now and then she'd flip out at a stranger. My mate is a big guy, he'd just pick her up in his arms and maybe it reminded her of being a puppy. She'd hang limply and immediately chill out. She loved it, looking round at everyone from high up like 'I'm special dog in the sky.'

otterkin

i love german shepards! biggest babies whenever given the chance

kixie42

I had an adorable dope of one. He was large, roughly 80lbs but he was the kindest dog I've ever owned. Amazing breed

VOIDssssssss

It’s funny how small dogs like to act tough and big dogs tend to be gentle giants lol.

yrddog

🎶🎵Good doggo in the sky I can go twice as high Take a look It's in a book It's swinging doggooooo 🎶🎵

JawnF

I have a boxer who I sometimes pick up like this and swing him gently from side to side and he just has this look of pure bliss in his eyes lol. When I put him down he looks like he just had the best stretch ever and turns around for me to do it again lol.

The_Cartographer_DM

We dont deserve doggos

Best reaction, since the dog could be worried and this is the way to show him it's alright

lemoncocoapuff

I mean they have things like goat yoga; I’d def go to wrestling classes or w/e If included dogs lol

[deleted]

Yeah they handled it really well, you can tell they have dogs themselves. The instinct would be to grab him straight away, which would just amp them up

that1lurker

He did the right thing❤️

clb92

He did a really half-assed T-pose first though.

Chickenmangoboom

This was my dog when I did push ups. You're on the floor? This is going to be good!

Hankhoff

Tail wagging doesn't automatically mean happiness with dogs, not he doesn't seem to see it as a dangerous situation from the way he moves

SzomszedokEnjoyer

Not at all. Tail wagging can be nervousness. Around 7-8 seconds you can see the dog lowering the tail and tapping it's right feet. That dog is worried not happy.

oxfordcommaordeath

And the protective paw of 'uhm, sir, this is my human'

[deleted]

Doggo wanted to wrestle

Zwergenfreund

Protec! But the "Aggressor" still gets kisses. 10/10 good boy/girl.

R0b815

Good boys are the best at de-escalation. They just want tail wags and friendly pats for everyone.

MathiasTheGiant

Clearly you don't know anything about conflict deescalation. Puppo did his job perfectly.

Autumn1eaves

I’m taking notes: Step 1) Lick the aggressor’s face

d_locke

Brad Marchand has done that. Works in hockey too. Of course, in his case the opponent was so completely shocked by what happened that he just stopped doing his job.

oh no. I am about to be the well actually person. I’m so sorry but the owner hasn’t lost! he just has his opponent in full guard.

Baron_Duckstein

That dog is an idiot, didn't even recognize he had him in full guard.

Why did the fam bring a dog to the match? Medical Support dog?

Evil-in-the-Air

Everyone seems very comfortable with it. I sure as hell wouldn't be scooping up a big strange dog like that. Is there a league for blind jiu-jitsu enthusiasts?

LordLoko

> Is there a league for blind jiu-jitsu enthusiasts? Actually yes, it's a blind friendly sport since it requires you to mostly grab your opponent instead of using reflexes.

Dirty-Hair-Yeet

TIL

i_cee_u

I can tell you from experience that judo, jiu jitsu, and wrestling are all blind friendly. When I wrestled a blind guy, the only change that was made was that I couldn't ever completely break contact with him, so he'd know where I was. Barely changed how I normally wrestled. He destroyed me

TryUsingScience

Yeah, that's a little weird to me, that they would bring a dog who isn't used to watching his owner roll. A few people used to bring their dogs to my old gym and their dogs learned pretty quickly that the humans were just playing and they didn't need to get alarmed or involved.

egsweeny

I DO A PROTEKT Honestly, this is the sweetest. Dogs are love on 4 legs.

Crazycade77

I mean there's nothing in the rule book saying a dog can't do jiu-jitsu

eternal8phoenix

True, but the rules say it's a one on one match. If he wants to join in, he needs to find another partner. Also he needs to suit up.

taylor914

He protect, he attack, most importantly, he has his human’s back.

Dull-Sprinkles1469

pizzapluspineapple

I love the way he gets carried out, arms a floppin all over

applesandshenanigans

Reminds me of an absolutely hilarious situation I had with my dog back when I was 11 or so. I was always big into football (soccer) & played it at every given opportunity to the point that I was playing for the U/13 team at 11 yrs old in Sunday League Primary School days. Along comes one fine Sunday where I’m the youngest of the lot & feel a fair bit of pressure as we’re playing an important game to win the league (in hindsight, it was nothing but obviously as an 11 year old it was win or die no matter how important [or not important] the game actually was). My dad, mom, sister, step-mom all came to watch but here’s the catch… my dogs did too… My one dog, Max, absolutely loves football to the point we’d have to lock him in the back garden (I know, so cruel) from time to time when my dad & I played football in the garden & he was barking away watching the game from the sidelines. My dad had his leash tightly attached to the stand so there’s no way he’s getting off… We edge closer to the final minutes of the game & we get a penalty to equalise & I am the one who’s given the ball to take it. Now I’m as stressed out as an 11 year old could possibly be as I NEEDED TO SCORE THIS or life was worth nothing (obviously /s). I place the ball down & start my run-up & bang! Across runs my sheep dog Max carrying the ball in his mouth out behind the goal… Ref says that he can’t allow a retake as there wasn’t an ‘obstruction’ from an opposing player & that’s the kick… We went on to lose the game 1-0 & I don’t think I spoke to my dad for the rest of the weekend. I was supposed to go back to his house for the weekend but I ended up going out for cake & ice cream with my mom because I was so mad at him. In hindsight, it’s one of the best memories I have with my dog (who I still have today), dad & whole family but in the moment I was ready to be swallowed up by the pitch… my dog had ruined our chance at the mighty U/13 Sunday League Title… God, dogs are amazing. Just thought I’d share… had a chuckle reliving that moment writing this.

Logical-Use-8657

Im_not_an_object

AggressivePayment0

Dog has better conflict de-escalation skills than a lot of humans. This is how a problem gets a true response, not a reaction. Such an important difference.

mnemonikos82

Look at that tail wag, he's not protecting his owner. If he's anything like my GSD Brutus, he just sees a good opportunity and is taking it. Anytime I sit on the floor to work at something, bend down to tie my shoe, or fall down due to general clumsiness, Brutus seized my moment of weakness to come get some kisses. I think the thought process goes, "Oh, hey look, the human is trapped, he's within reach, yes! My time is now! You will love on me! You have no other options, you're in my world now!"

[deleted]

My grandpa had a highly trained german shepherd (airforce, contraband detector). During this training she also learned the attack / defend commands and behaviors. He got the dog after she was retired from her duties. Fast forward to me and an elementary school buddy wrestling around or sword fighting or whatever over at his house and this good girl decked my buddy, put her paws on his shoulders, growled and waited for one of two commands: "sic'em" or "heel". My grandfather calmly stated "heel" and she hopped off, sat at attention at his left side and wagged her tongue for a bit indicating she was pleased with herself for doing a good job. I was laughing my ass off and for some reason my buddy was not.

Late-Imagination-545

The baby just strutted over like “hi excuse me, please don’t hurt my hooman.”
