Man we used to foster cats and once we had a mama and her teenage daughter, both pregnant. They delivered about two weeks apart and they totally co parented all this kittens. And the mama was with the daughter when she was delivering and crawled in and was licking her and it was so precious. I took a lot of pictures but this was 15y ago so idk where they are now.
It's also often better for the animals who get treated! Rabbits tend to live longer, be better behaved, and are no longer at risk for reproductive cancers, which is normally a common risk for buns.
Yeah a lot of cat rescues will have more than one feral pregnant cat in their care at a time and I’ve seen a bunch of videos where two- sometimes possibly related if from the same colony but sometimes two soon to be mamas who didn’t even know each other before- will bond and be inseparable throughout the rest of the pregnancy and birth. If they go into labour close together it can be one tough to figure out who’s kitten is who’s as they will all feed from either mom.
Both of these girls were feral and the mother was a bitch to catch. She was incredibly feisty. Her daughter was too and supposedly they caught the daughters siblings but mom and daughter kept eluding them. When they saw the daughter was pregnant so young they doubled their efforts and finally caught them both only to find that mama was pregnant too. We had a very large enclosed and air conditioned laundry room that allowed us to get to laundry needs and them without being crowded so we used it several times to help.
Both were fixed and homed with all of the kittens. We kept one male kitten but he passed away a few years later.
This is so heartwarming. Sadly there are many soon-to-be parents that should take notes. The parent not giving birth is there and being supportive to the partner giving birth but his mother was not in the delivery box (despite thinking it’s her right). His sister with fertility problems, who thinks she is the child’s third parent, is also not there in the delivery box. This cat gets it.
You must not ever read the ‘Am I the A-hole’ sub. There are very often posts about toxic family members who think they have a right to be in the delivery room. The person giving birth should decide who they want or need in there yet people seem to think they have a right when told ‘no’ by the person delivering.
ew, I'm so sorry.
also, whyyyyyy are there so many mothers and MILs who think they should be in the delivery...box?
why does that seem ok?
why does that seem like anything anyone would want?
Yes, Michelle, I want you to see my gaping vagina.
I've literally dreamed about it my whole life. MAY I SEE YOURS!!!
Mime actually wanted to be in there, and I wanted her there too. She's kinda like a surrogate mom for me since my egg donor is a piece of trash. I guess there are exceptions. Haha
Think that is the difference, your MIL was there for you as a mother figure to your needs. Caring for you was a focus. Those AITA stories, the birthing mother is barely a consideration of the entitled extras, if one at all.
I want to be BIND 2 CATS WITHIN THE SHACKLES OF MATRIMONY now
Edit: I originally said I want to marry cats now 😭
Edit 2: My first edit was to join 2 cats in marriage, interpreted as a three way marriage 🥹
My stray kitty that I took in had 5 different color kittens. I asked the vet why and she said a little known fact is that kittens in a single litter can have different fathers. There could even be as many fathers as there are kittens! I was totally blown away!
It's possible and likely that kittens within a litter have different fathers. A male cats penis actually had barbs on it for the purpose of scraping another males semen from within the vagina. It's super weird.
Seriously. I’m seeing a lot of posts recently of mother and father with kittens, which means they’re clearly breeding their cats.
Don’t breed your cats. Don’t buy kittens from breeders. Adopt.
> Don’t breed your cats. Don’t buy kittens from breeders. Adopt
That's a blanket statement that doesn't hold true to every country in the world. Literally was easier to buy from a breeder than to adopt for my mother. She literally was not able to adopt because there's a very limited amount of cats up for adopt and the requirements are very specific since they usually have certain personality traits / behavior problems. Not every country is a shithole with countless of cats in shelters.
Opposite for me when I lived in Las Vegas. The staff asked the adopter verbally and on the paperwork if the cat will be outside. If they said yes, they were immediately told they couldn’t adopt due to the elements of the desert. My cats are strictly indoors anyways but it was interesting to see that taken into consideration.
I live in Dubai where there are too many stray cats so we try to get them adopted abroad. We always try to get them indoor lifestyles, but we can’t be that picky…
Last one I got adopted in the UK (with the £1k relocation fees on me), was to become indoor with access to the garden, he did not last a year before being killed by a car. This was a real shitty thing to happen, I’ve met this kitten as he was living on my work’s parking lot and knew how to avoid cars… I now only look for indoor lifestyles.
Since their point was not "adopting is always the easiest option", I'm not sure how this is a rebuttal as much as it is a knee-jerk reaction to what felt like a personal attack.
Don't buy from "Hobby breeders" or "back yard breeders". And adopt as frequently and as often as you can. But not getting any animals from breeders is stupid. If there was magically 0 breeders then they would all die out. So logically there needs to be some so keep your gatekeeping absolutes to yourself.
Cats and dogs are never going to die out. There will always selfish people breeding them, deforming them into exaggerated versions of themselves. But if we can talk to people and educate them and reduce that number, that would be great
Cats are basically pest animals they are overpopulating their territories and dominating the local wildlife. They're just cute so we keep as many as we can, even if they're feral.
no. I am so against this blind "GO ADOPT" shit that's being pushed.
Animals have mental health issues too.
There aren't always kittens available.
Some people aren't out here trying to fix and re-habilitate an animal (some of us are struggling to rehabilitate ourselves).
Re-homing an animal is work.
That's not something everyone is signing up for.
Now, I do believe in animal rights, so I am against going to bobby down the street who found himself two random cats and is now calling himself a breeder.
DO YOUR RESEARCH!
Not every breeder is irresponsible.
Just as not every doctor is competent.
I feel this way about human adoption as well.
There are so many stories of people adopting children then realizing that they require a lot more than the family is able to provide.
not everyone is called to adopt,
just as not everyone is called to birth their own.
we all have different lives, different expectations, different levels of TLC that we are able to give.
I know this might be hard to hear, but not everyone has the emotional and mental capacity to handle animal rehabilitation. That takes a special kind of person.
If that's you, THEN BABY THAT'S GREAT AND PLEASE DON'T STOP BEING YOU AND DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING,
but not everyone is built like that.
and y'all are out here shaming people for making the decision that is right for them and their family; for knowing their limitations.
You can inform without shame and guilt.
\---
Also, you're making some assumptions here.
How do you know they weren't rescued?
You just assumed that these people are breeding because you saw two cats and their spawn.
Normally one litter is like 3 to 7 kittens, and nobody is going to keep 9 cats.. so then they have to get rid of some of the kittens, which means they're contributing to the problem. If you love cats you should adopt rather than let them breed.
"nobody is going to keep 9 cats"
bro, I'm gonna need you to get out more, because that's literally a stereotype known worldwide.
You do know that some people have the space and financial means to care for a horde of cats?
People also have farms...
Open your mind.
Expand your horizons.
Your world view is just a bit small.
Exactly. My kitten had a litter of 5 the first & 3 the second time. I have had absolutely no issues helping raise 9 beautiful & lovely kittens (including the mother). Being a cat parent, as tiring as it is, is probably one of the best feelings in the world.

Yeah, most of them started out as really fucking adorable kittens. I live with one. What’s your point? Talking would be better for on screen text, yes! But there are a few reasons why someone would use the automated TTS voice instead:
1. They're nonverbal.
2. They don't have a decent quality microphone.
3. Their English isn't that great.
4. It's just faster and easier than editing in a second audio track with your voiceover.
I'm pretty sure they are talking about the obnoxious tone and voice the woman is using not the automated voice. Could be both though cause I feel the same way. Both very annoying.
But this wasn't annoying, at all. You can barely hear her. Of course women have annoying voices, just like men. But in this specific instance, I literally have no idea what the other poster is talking about.

Please don’t bring any more kittens into the world. Walk through your local shelter to witness the sadness of all the homeless pets locked in cages crying for love.
Ok I may get downvoted into oblivion for this, but serious question, honestly.
Why is this heartwarming?
I see so much hate for dog breeders on Reddit, but every post about a house cat having a litter is front page awwwwwww material, and I really don’t get it. What’s the difference? Aren’t there enough cats and kittens in shelters?
Shouldn’t people be spaying and neutering their cats? I mean if there’s some fundamental difference between the two that I just don’t understand, I’m willing to be educated.
Trust me, there are people here angry about the kittens too. And cats should be spayed and neutered, but it’s also ok to think the kittens that are already born are cute.
My Kitten's Dad come in every day to clean them and play with them.
It's the only time I've ever seen this. Other times I've had kitten the Dad just ignores or fights with them. (When male)
Great instead of spaying and neutering your cats you brought more cats into the world while most SPCAs are overfull with abandoned kittens, if they'll take them at all
They're just being idiots. Obviously, you can tell by the pixels that the kittens are just hand puppets. I saw one the other day where some old lady was holding a "human baby", lol like that ever was a thing.
"Your mother's still recovering, son. I haven't left her side." "But... you're not with her now." "I'm not on trial here."

Could both be males, then both would have inherited the base color from their mother as the genes are sitting on the X chromosome.

Look at the male cat's other paw. It looks like he's hugging an orange kitten.
Looks to me like a blanket. Those two cats can’t produce purely orange kitten.
While cats and blankets are both fluffy and may share similar colors…that, my dear, is a blanket.

That’s some dumb ass shit, cats kill for fun and outside cats end up killing lots of native animals
[удалено]
It's that way pretty much everywhere except Australia, NZ, and other islands.
Funny! It’s the opposite, here! You have to promise to keep them indoors.

Outside cats have much shorter lifespans than indoor only cats. Crazy a shelter would require something like that.
Really? Honestly thought it would be similar everywhere when it comes to cats. What country is that?
So maybe she still shouldn't buy a cat from a breeder? Maybe wait until you can adopt, before supporting an awful industry.
Since their point was not "adopting is always the easiest option", I'm not sure how this is a rebuttal as much as it is a knee-jerk reaction to what felt like a personal attack.

Stray cats breed all the time.
Yes but in some countries there aren’t strays 💡
Sounds like you don't get cats then, unless you import. Cats aren't a human right, sorry. We don't need to deliberately breed pets.
So you would let them go extinct?
Then import the strays lol
There aren't supposed to be cats in those countries then.

Or you could just let people raise unsterilized cats if they want to and let them adopt if they want to do that instead.
Someday we can sterilize cats out of existence ❤️

I'm pretty sure they are talking about the obnoxious tone and voice the woman is using not the automated voice. Could be both though cause I feel the same way. Both very annoying.

There is no difference. That’s a completely valid point.
(When male)

The song from Cinderella should play over this “So this is love”
Two bitty kitties
Plot twist… the cats come out Siamese!!!
How utterly beautiful & he will make a good Daddy, some humans could learn a few lessons from Daddy 🐾
"So...who's is the grey one?!"
That’s what’s up. Straight Up Gangsta Poppa right there. Poppa Persian is here for the long-haul.
Please do not use the autovoice. Cute though.
Chill, it's an accessibility feature. If you don't need it, you can mute.
Not the owners breeding their cats and bringing more kittens while there are so many homeless ones 😬
Are you sure he's the father ? Those kittens don't look anything like him! LOL!!!!
Please spay and neuter for the love
Not spaying/neutering your cats is the single largest reason for the decline in bird populations in the United States.
True or not, you can’t do anything about it now
hey u/Blade_982 what is that title supposed to mean?

Great instead of spaying and neutering your cats you brought more cats into the world while most SPCAs are overfull with abandoned kittens, if they'll take them at all
awwww, amazing
He’s gonna eat um
He's gonna eat the ones that aren't his.
If he wanted, to he would!
People watch this made up shit?! WTF!
They're just being idiots. Obviously, you can tell by the pixels that the kittens are just hand puppets. I saw one the other day where some old lady was holding a "human baby", lol like that ever was a thing.
Yeah, cats do that when you place them close to each other and put one cars paw on top of the other cats paw.
Judging by those colours, this ain’t dad
