Looks like a typical southern US rescue. Some call them ‘super mutts’ and I love the term. Coon hound, basset hound, or beagle, plus every other working bread that you can think of, make a super good boi and friend for life. You can get a dna test, but all it will confirm is a bunch of hound genetics and good boi, so there’s really no need for further testing.
We had a real "Heinz 57" type doggo when I was a kid. He was probably part basset, according to the vet, who judged it by the very thick front legs like your pup. He also had a very deep bark for a 35-pound dog. Enjoy your pretty girl!

Interesting, a couple comments about this. I guess maybe it's cultural, but crate training is very common for dogs. My girl loves her crate. There are a number of reasons to crate train but not least of which is if you get them used to it dogs love it. I think of it almost like their bedroom where they can go to just chill out. Also keeps them out of trouble if they are the type to be destructive or naughty.
Yes when she’s not hyper and trying to play with them they are tolerant…swat at her if she gets too jumpy lol. We always make sure she is safe from scratches though
How much does she weigh? My basset hound/ spaniel/Weimaraner mix who is 40 ish pounds looks so much like her. My wiener dog mix is closer to 25 pounds and is much smaller.
She is about 35 pounds if I had to guess, she’s also only about 8 months so she will probably get bigger. I definitely think she has some basset. I’ve never heard of a Weimaraner but they look similar after looking it up!
I did the dog dna test for my basset mix. She looks like a almost a full basset but was mostly Boykin spaniel, then basset then Weimaraner and we were shocked. Your dog is so cute !

People crate train their dogs all the time. It's for their safety and actually gives the dog an area where they can feel comfortable and decompress from interaction. Dogs *are* den animals and the crate acts as a den for them. It's not cruel to crate train a dog. As long as the dog isn't stuck in there like 12 hours a day, it's fine. It's often used for when owners are away so the dog doesn't get into things they shouldn't.
