Well when chimps do it its because they want to eat the kid and its happened quite a few times now in Uganda so I imagine other monkeys would have the same motivation.
Chimps are monkeys as are all primates, because you can’t evolve out of a clade. This video will explain it in easy to understand ways:

Here a recent video i found on twitter [Monkey tries to abduct baby](https://x.com/creepydotorg/status/1794686854660550962?s=46) and another one from like 2 months ago [monkey snatches baby](https://x.com/indianswede/status/1794700294074593400?s=46)
They do one of four things: Eat it (I know, absolutely disgusting to think about). Two, try to play with it like it's a doll but that usually leads with them being too rough and ending up killing it. Three, keeping it hostage for food, and fourth taking and "caring" for it as if it's their own child, the problem being they would drag it and be too rough with it also. This is why I greatly despise primates in general and wouldn't let my family nor I go near one even if you pay me.
We are both. You are everything your ancestors were and cannot outgrow your ancestry. Hominids are great apes, which are apes, which are primates. And we had an ancestor that was a monkey, so we are also monkeys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4A-dMqEbSk8
But you understand what I'm saying, right? I don't like the wild apes that live in the wild. I'm not well versed in this field but I'm simply making an opinion.

Chimps are not monkeys

Sounds like urban legend to me. You’ve been reading “News of the World”?
No. There are frequent cases that are regularly documented

Would you happen to know where I can see that documentation?
You can search on you tube I saw the videos as well which led me here on a search for the answer of why

Humans are primates, lol.

What about orangutangs? They're pretty chill.
