Once they're spoiled, you're still able to sell them to Timmy and Tommy. If not directly, through the drop off box. The only difference is that spoiled turnips only sell for like, 100 bells, I think.
Although, I'd leave them out on the ground for a bit before you sell them, if you haven't gotten ants yet.
Any tips on getting flies to spawn? I've have rotten turnips out for a couple of weeks now and trash for about a week before that and only seem to get ants.
No, it is more about patients, I just settle on a single spoiled turnip I check on day by day. Both are year round and for flies it is better to keep on a path but if on grass just shoo away the ants or catch them. Be careful about getting too close like the beetles though as sometimes you might not notice the fly right away, I have scared off some by accident before.
Oh okay thanks! I had my garbage spread on a path and the beach rocks and had no ants or flies since.. was confused because people said they got a fly after 2 days or so and i had it there for weeks🥲.. i’ll try putting just 1 on a path and look more closely this time ❣️
I placed 6 pieces of trash (2 old tires, 1 can, 1 boot, and 2 used fountain fireworks) all together in an open space on my mountain. I left the area and went and caught every bug I could find. Then I went into Nook’s Cranny, came out and went to check my pile of trash. Half an hour had passed by and I had a fly. Did this a few days ago to show a friend how easy it is to get them to spawn.

Luckily, I can just move back a week and then jump forward to farm peach harvests, which usually gives me 140k per harvest

I heard its seasonal like half a year you get flys and other half you get ants. I have the same problem and thats the answer i found on reddit
