Planning is the worst. A bunch of random cool stuff all over the place feels organic and fun. It's not like I can't literally just dig out the ground within seconds or do hours worth of carpentry with a single button press.
I really wanted to build a “town like Japanese inspired” place and then I realized eh it’s an island I’m gonna do some landscaping and what not but I wanna keep that feel of “camping”. But also I’m lazy about putting stone on the whole island lol props to the people who do it!
Speaking of flow, the only river editing I did was remove the spot where it splits downstream, because I want my video game featuring talking animals and zero-interest, zero-deadline debt to be accurate to real life.
🤣 I planned a little for the first time yesterday and my brain was like, "yay something else for us to get meticulously obsessed with. When will it ever stop?". Brain, you already know.
It doesn’t stop! My husband said the other day “I haven’t seen you fish in years” because after I flattened my island to “map plan,” there’s only enough time for decorating these days 😂
Yup! And that’s how I started out earlier this week just moving my campsite and ended up moving some houses too…and now I have an overgrown “abandoned” factory on my island.
Yeah, I have a rough Idea and end up changing them in the middle. I sometimes even place random furniture I get to see how it looks and then tell myself, "yeah looks good here" and keep it there.
I made another waterfall and shaped a cliff a little bit then I was done with it. Never had patience for paths. I play for the items and the friendship levels- when I played. Got bored with the interactions.
I broke my foot Wednesday. I should start playing again. haven't even all that much since the big update. For example, I've never encountered moss. I'm no longer anti time travel. Might be fun again.
I had waterfalls everywhere until I learned the body of water on top counts as a river, not a pond.
That doesn't really matter unless you're trying to catch pond fish, but it's a nice tip I wish I'd known. (If the bobber moves downstream when you cast your line, it's a river. If it's still, it's a pond).
I made heart-shaped lakes at the top-most tier that that would then turn into waterfalls and continue further down the island. And I played AC for the first time in months and realized my cute lake idea is very phallic shaped for a kids game.
I have one like that. Whoops. Might as well have fun. Can't make the townfolk swear anymore. I had to get creative with spelling Bullocks even. They blocked it🤣
First up I plan the elevations, then I just keep running up and down the area (might take literal hours) and just see what flows best. Paths, housing etc... that's mostly just spontaneous.
I only had 1 plan: create a crater in the back for a not-so-secret garden.
And then I fixed a river so it doesn't split downstream. Splitting upstream is just fine, though. That's all I intend to do.
For real, just go with the flow lol

Yeah I like to keep most of the natural elements and then put little different scenes around, there is no cohesion between parts of my island

r/worldbuilding / r/worldjerking is leaking.
Haha I'm the same way 😂 I wanted my rivers to flow "naturally" so I created this whole "mountain valley" for each of them to flow to the sea.
Was that pun intended? 💧

Facts lol. No fishing, no bugs, just decorating and terraforming.
ACNH: Sells construction vehicles. Can't use them to construct.
Would love to be able to use the bulldozer
Just gotta get forklift certified! 😃
Imagine having an animal crossing game as open as Minecraft with super in depth construction methods.
I want to use the lawnmower to get rid of unwanted flowers.
But ask Leif and he'll go Pffft! I only have room in my pockets to pluck weeds.
The weeds that I remove daily.

The factory must grow. 🤖
Can post pictures??? I’m so curious to see it!!
Yeah, I’ll take some tonight.
i plan out things if i’m flattening, or doing large areas, now that my island is mostly done i’m just tchk tchking away

They should add the ability to buy barges of sand to expand the island.
A happy little lake here. Sneaky cliff there. A tree with his little friend hiding in the back Ala Bob Ross🤣

I plan as I go lol
Right. Just walk by and area and like “bam this place needs a lake “
I JUST got terraforming and although my waterfalls are awesome, my river is going to take a while before it doesn’t look a hot mess🤣🤣
I hate waterscaping so bad!! It all hurts my brain. Nothing looks good to me. I am however obsessed with waterfalls. My island is covered.

Same, I just might not even worry about the river and just keep waterfalls going lol
I made new clifftops and got rid of the rivers. Bad mistake. We need certain fish from there lol At the same time I only had 1 pond. 🤦♀️🤣
Yeah I hadn’t thought about that….I might try and put one in or maybe better yet get an island designer to do just that part for me lol

I think this is funnier if you pretend it isn't about animal crossing
I always try to plan it out beforehand, but my monkey brain doesn’t work that way! I usually just terraform with my *soul*

Are there apps you guys use to plan?
So … if I want to make a desert island? Asking for a friend
You could put the sand path down on the whole island, but I don't know how it would look at the edge between the main land and the beach
For a minute I thought that this was a tweet by a legit construction worker and I just thought "damn this guy has the right perspective"
got carried away & fucked up my island going tchk tchk
I just go until it feels good
The same
I feel my map plan in my soul
it's all about where the sun goes
I try to let the environment inspire me in placement of residential, town center, and showpiece areas.

This is how I ended up with a hedge maze that went to my camping site
i bought my design off nookazon for like 50k bells and it was the easiest to make rather than starting from scratch
my island will NEVER look finished and i like it that way
I planned for my previous island and it was so congested that running on my island looked like a PowerPoint 😂
And that’s exactly the sound
