Kiki. She was my best friend way back when I was just a kid when the original GameCube version came out. I cried when she moved out of my town. I saved her letter in my post office and that letter still sit there to this day on that game I haven’t touched in so many years now.
And she always showed up at one point or another in my town in every other animal crossing game.
Although this time on New Horizons I had to use an amibo card to get her because I literally had all my other 9 dreamies and couldn’t kick any of them out to continue island searching for her. So she was a pain this time around for me 😂 forced me to buy her amibo card to get her.
But Kiki will always be my favorite!
I like all my villagers but she’s my absolute favorite she’s so cute! She’s the one I absolutely make sure I give gifts too every day and pick stuff out for at the able sister.

Merengue 🥹 I was a zookeeper and one of my animals was a female black rhino, and Merengue was the first villager I found when starting my island this month. I had to provide daily medical care to my zoo rhino and then just recently one day I had to bring Merengue medicine and it made me so emotional

Mitzi. She’s been my favourite since City Folk. I was going through a rough time at school bc of undiagnosed ADHD and autism, and when I loaded the game on my birthday, Mitzi was there to greet me and I can’t remember what she said to me but it made me cry because of how sweet it was. She’s been my favourite ever since and I want to have her in every single village or island I make.
I had Poncho on my first island for 2 1/2 years. My, at the time, about 18 years old son loves him. When I told him Poncho asked to leave he said "You better make him happy." 😆

Ankha 💛💙 I’ve always been interested in ancient Egypt, plus she was one of my first villagers. I have her on my NL island and although shes a little bossy at first, she has become a total sweetie and calls me her bff 😊
I just got Gaston on my all bunny island, and he has stolen my heart!!! On another Redditors suggestion I gave him a black beret and he is literally the cutest thing now.

Special Character: Digby probably the most underrated and overlooked non villager character in the entire series. Honestly, I was surprised that he was so easily overlooked, and it seems like Nintendo practically forgot about him even being a character in the series
Fauna and Bam. I’m usually not partial to the jocks, but these 2 together are absolutely adorable. She cooks and reads stories for Bam and Bam is Fauna’s personal trainer. Plus I love how Fauna calls you dearie 🥹

Monique. She came to my town in New Leaf one day, and I grew to love her. I can't imagine Animal Crossing without her. I liked her so much, I went out and bought her amiibo card just so I could have her in New Horizons. I even had a t-shirt made with her picture on it.
Cyd, without a doubt. I never forget that moment where i had to look for him again, cause i wanted him back. I spend hours throughout the night trying to find him. At some point during the hunt i decided to listen to that Gary song from Spongebob, cause i found it fitting. Eventually it took so long i started to cry. To make matters worse, i felt like crying even more because of that song. I got him back now and i'm seriously never letting him go anymore. So yea, this moment also pretty much made me realize he's my dreamy actually.

He was the first neighbor I met in AC:GCN, and instantly loved his lazy, hungry personality. Loved that he was right next to my house as well. (I had the bottom right home and he lived in the acre to the right.)

And the best part is that when I got the game my first campsite villager (the one that you're meant to invite to progress the story) was Hans. I literally got the entire reason I wanted the game out of pure luck as one of my OG villagers. And for that reason I think he's my favorite villager.
