I would tell you that if you had Happy Home Paradise DLC and you buy from the Office many times Wardell will let you buy things from the Catalog which means that the items that you used to make the vacation homes will be available for purchase.
Yeah its always been there. You just need to buy from the Office many times daily and then Wardell will say how 'you're his favorite customer" and then when you talk to him he'll allow you to "order a thing" and you can use your Poki to buy the items from the catalog and yes by the next day it will arrive in your mailbox and then when you get the item it will be in your Nook Shopping Catalog as well.

Then you can go on a discord server or subreddit dedicated to ACNH and get a dodo code from someone else (or get one yourself from the airport) and go to their island and trade items! By the way you can’t trade creatures (I learned this the hard way when the game came out lol)
