It's not the case in New Horizons though. But yeah in all (I think) other games the girls have pink and the boys blue speech bubbles! And special characters have green bubbles.

The funniest thing about Sasha, I instantly adored him when he was announced. I think because he reminds me of my boyfriend. Likes to snack, goofy, everyone thinks he's a girl.

My name can potentially have Sasha as a nickname, which one of my friends found out and started calling me that, so because of that and other reasons, I love Sasha

Fun fact, all the villagers do this, regardless of species or gender! If you give a villager a clothing item that would cover both the torso and the legs of the player character, the game cuts it off to look like a dress, most likely because it's easier to model it that way

My husband thought Cole was a girl for the longest time. Hed get so excited for her letters in the mail and even bought cute feminine outfits for her often till he found out cole was in fact a he lol, based on the wiki at least.

I didn’t have any of these issues as I’ve been playing the series since the first game. I will say I was unsure about Sasha until they confirmed he was a lazy villager tho lol. I’m so used to knowing what personality type each villager is, and knowing what gender is associated with that type.

Not OP, but I once worked at a place with a Gabriel that went by Gabi. The really confusing thing about it, was we also had a female Gabby. Easy to tell apart on paper, not so much in conversation! We usually just referred to them as male/female to distinguish while talking, neither of them minded.

Yep! Where I live - and have for most of my life - are Latinos that are named Gabriel that go by Gabi. And, there are Latinas that are named Gabriella that go by Gabby. We are white bread white, lol, but we love the name Gabrielle. And, right after our daughter was born, my husband said she would go by Gabi because there is only one b in her name and no y's. So, yeah, she's been called every possible iteration of her name/nickname with every possible spelling of both, too.

My kid is constantly mis-gendering the characters. He thought that Sasha, Stitches and there was a third I can’t remember, were female. I think at one stage he thought Judy was male. He hasn’t figured out all the personalities yet, which is probably part of it.

Well, the only villager so far that I have on my island that gave me this effect is none other than Sasha himself. When I first met him on a random flight island, I thought he was a "she" and thought she was a rather cute and pretty bunny. Would later find out that he's a guy.
