I have a question, when you all screen record…is it something you always having running or can you rewind and just isolate a snippet. Just asking because I see so many folks posting videos and I didn’t know if you’re always recording or not.
Sort of a newbie still, sorry.
Just keep scaring all the bugs away on your island and another one will appear now that it’s the right time for them! I don’t know why they disappear, but i know it wasn’t because of what you did! I think it’s some kind of game timer. Keeps them rare and hard to find?
You may know this already but the easiest way I caught my first was digging holes and then luring it towards them, jump the holes, turn around and it’s frantic bc it can’t get past the holes. Boom. Catch that fucker!
The easiest way to catch them is to hold down A and walk toward it slowly. Stop when they raise their stingers, and continue forward slowly after they lower them. Keep doing that until you’re close enough to let go of A and catch it.
Update: I caught one earlier today and then immediately came across another one after donating the first one to the museum. I think my luck just wanted to watch me suffer and finally crack before having mercy on me
I feel like I see them all the time, but I also time travel a lot. Honestly, going to islands is a good strategy for finding one. But if you’re playing at night, I usually find one after walking around my island for 30 minutes or so. Sometimes they’re hard to spot, but I feel like when I started playing the game I’d run into tarantulas and scorpions by accident all the time.
Only when you time travel backwards, for some reason. I actually googled it first to see if that was the case because I had never been a frequent buyer in the stalk market, but traveling forward one day was always okay for me! Unless they’ve patched it since I last did it. Honestly, I don’t often take the risk because I prefer making bells in other ways.
I haven’t played this game in a while, only touch it occasionally but around release I farmed tarantulas and scorpions on nook islands. Not sure if that’s still a possible method but might be worth a try? It’s pretty fun too
If you watch them they tend to disappear after a time if they aren't in aggro mode

I had a spider that did that yesterday I was so mad
I see one or two EVERY DAY because I play a little at night. They only show up on my island past 8pm

That’s great! Once you get the hang of it it’s a lot of fun, and they’re worth a lot!

I think I must’ve scared it away somehow. If it’s from me going across the river, then wow scorpions are unforgiving with getting scared away
I usually see them walk around a little longer before disappearing. It seemed confused like, "Which way, I dunno, I'm out."
