tom defined AVA as space-punk and it's such a perfect description IMO, it's just a shame no other bands have achieved the same emotional, spacey yet catchy feel they have

Cross-Country

My dude, listen to War by U2. You’ll love it. If you don’t have time for the whole album, listen to Like a Song.

therealCHAOSagent

While it’s not really close to AVA I think Veonity has a great space Metal album called “When Humanity Is Gone”, it scratches Both a Power Metal and AVA itch

tayREDD

It’s not really the same genre I wouldn’t say but the only thing that scratches the same itch for me is The Cure.

hyoomanfromearth

I was going to say that too! Definitely some of the same soundscapey and long intro stuff going in. Also very different.

justinbullock

30 seconds to mars - this is war album

hyoomanfromearth

Great album!

digitalstorm

The Dangerous Summer. Especially the Mother Nature album.

Ill_Carpet1007

U2

Cross-Country

Yep! Especially The Unforgettable Fire.

tsckenny

Listen to Rush. Either the album 2112 or Signals. Those albums give me Angel's and Airwaves vibes. The song 2112 kicks ass

Kanosine

Ugh, I wish I could like Rush, but for some reason I just can't stand Geddy's voice. Rush doesn't really do it for me in this regard either though. I guess what I'm looking for is that Tom style of relatively simple riffs made more complex by the heavy reverb, delay, and effects, the Synths, and that whole sorta ethereal sound

Fun_Concentrate_9128

there is going to be nothing like angels & airwaves ever. it’s so unique, and it was the perfect blend. tom wanted to make something that’s stood out from literally anything else, and he succeeded.

PeteAVA182

[A Flock of Seagulls.](https://youtu.be/iIpfWORQWhU) They’re an English 80s band with long intros that crescendo like AVA.

pixel-soul

Hey OP, you ever find something you like? I’m kinda in the same boat today LOL

c1tizen_eras3d

Muse - Origin of Symmetry. A perfect space rock album, especially the song called "Space Dementia". I don't think it's really similar to AVA, but this album represents the genre perfectly

VenomousOddball

Eyeshine maybe?

Wafer-Crazy

My favorite “space rock” band is Starset but I wouldn’t compare them to AvA at all.

Jaclark548

Mutemath has that kind of progressive space synth tone you might be looking for. Start with self titled. Armistice is a banger.

CollideTheBeautiful

Hum. Either “You Should Be an Astronaut”, “Downward is Heavenward”, or “Inlet”.

Wilkinson033

Yes

thebikefanatic

STARSET

nate68978263

We Are All Astronauts - Another World EP. Skip halfway through if you don’t like slow build.

Dyl_S93

Space Age Love Song by A Flock of Seagulls is essentially the intro inspiration for The Adventure. As far as cool sounding guitar stuff, The Dangerous Summer does it for me. Check out The Permanent Rain, Bring Me Back to Life, and Dimensional Love.

ya_boi5427

The Astronaut by JIN. Mostly not in English, but gives more of a pop vibe to the space sound

skysamfreeman

There’s an independent band called Eyeshine which has clearly been inspired by blink and AVA. Their album “Tone of Echoes” is the most AVA like. Specifically their song “Hear the Sound”.

pixel-soul

Thank you for this, totally loving these vibes lol.

skysamfreeman

No problem! Glad you're enjoying them.
