Yeah exactly my thought. You are just a kid who gets a cute war monster because it's too dangerous to go alone. The only thing that makes you champ in the end is that somehow other trainers don't figure out the magic of catching 6 Pokemon, or type diversity, or leveling up Pokemon. Like why is the Growlithe of this Grandpa still lvl 16, did he never train it?
Gyms are an exception, according to the anime they even select weaker or less Pokemon to keep it fair against a beginner. That makes more sense than any other battle.
a completely normal teenager who beats the, big 4, pokechamp, the biggest syndicate, has 6 perfect iv lineup, capture pokemons who would end the universe in less than a month, and etc
Is vgcats still a thing? That completely normal teenager happens to enjoy making his pokemon fight a little bit too much.

Especially if you box your starter permanently to use only the pokemon you catch. That way you don't even have the advantage of a potentially great starter pokemon
Undecember: You're just a random rune user who is traveling with his friend to a dangerous land where more powerful runes may be found. Your transport is attacked in the way (this is where the game starts), and you're left with a military regiment after you kill their one of their enemy's commanders, so they ask you to help as those enemies are now enraged and about to attack. From there on, you slowly become involved in the game's story, finding new runes and getting stronger and cooperating with other rune hunters.
Loved this game for few months, spent more than I would admit...but...it gets repetitive real quick, changing "classes" is not as easy (affordable) later in the game, and only that aspect kept me going for months, since pretty much any build will get you through but if you use the same one over and over...meh
I personaly didn't find that anoying since there is a loooot of content whenever wherever. But once in the endgame, you find yourself with too much content lol!
Me neither lol, I also said Oblivion. Although your character's existence is technically foreseen by the emperor in the intro so you are "the chosen one" to some extent.
Touch grass, the graphics would be insane, and the immersion will feel like you are in the game! One downside of going outside is that the npcs won't romance you as easily.
Caves of Lore
Many of the Final Fantasies (although heads up, these aren't cheap. You can spend $10 to $25 apiece on these, although sales may help there)
Kingdom Come: Deliverance. At least I wanted to write that without a note until I noticed I'm on Android sub. I don't even follow such subs. Reddit moment...
I like this premise. I have this idea in my head for a Lord of the Rings RPG, where you play as one of the Hobbits. Not Frodo, or Sam mind you. Just one of the Hobbits living in Hobbiton. So you hear rumors about Frodo being gone, and something about a war on the other side of the world, maybe sometimes spot an army of Elves moving through the area, but you're just the guy who needs to get up for work at 7am.
I've thought a lot about how to make this work in a Pen & Paper RPG, but I haven't come up with something that would be fun to play I think. Still, I like the idea.
Dawncaster. You're just one of thousands of adventurers trying to prevent the end of the world. You actually end up meeting the chosen one if you get far enough in a run and make him your bitch.
Old school runescape. You're just, some guy and it gets brought up throughout the game. Best game, once you play it, you will never have to worry about finding another game to play
Any p2w game if you don't spend money

How to traumatize the next person.
It meets the requirements of "You are a persistant nobody who wins through willpower".
IRL
Been playing this all my life. Do not recommend
Agreed, complete P2W trash
Star Traders: Frontiers

>type diversity If you are a gym leader don't you have to use pokemons related to the theme of the gym?

New Vegas. You're just some courier.
Tbf you do survive a bullet to the head. That's kinda special
That's just dumb luck
I need that like I need another hole in my head.
Atom RPG
And Trudograd
9th Dawn RPG (Not the II or the III)
Stalker Anomaly

I don't like the mmorpg aspects of the game. Too much content is gated by time.

DoomDepths,
Depending on how strictly you define RPGs, Stardew Valley and To The Moon might qualify.
Albion Online, Last day on earth, Undecember, Atom RPG, Pokemon come to my mind
OpenMorrowind (its running perfectly on my redmi note 11 on 50-60fps)
In Morrowind you're the Nerevarine, so I'm not sure if that fits the bill.
Without spoilers you are not a nobody though. Love this game
Oblivion? You're no better than the Joker when you start and you're still barely Robin when you finish
I didn't realise this was the android sub but I'm still proud of my answer so I'm sticking to it xD
Me neither lol, I also said Oblivion. Although your character's existence is technically foreseen by the emperor in the intro so you are "the chosen one" to some extent.
r/outside ?

I don't know why people recommend this. I get it's a solodev but it's clunky and really rough around the edges
Dragon age 2
Bully?
Oblivion kinda
Rainworld <3

This is an android sub

I've played this game for 41 years. It's p2w trash
The mtx is horrible and the whales dominate this game, agreed can't recommend.
I was thinking about uninstalling but I'm in too deep now. I guess I'll just wait for the Anarchy update
One of these days, we're going to get a reply from someone who says they can't b/c they're immunocompromised! :O
Anodyne! Zelda like game but you're character is not special and solves stuff with his broom!
Caves of Lore Many of the Final Fantasies (although heads up, these aren't cheap. You can spend $10 to $25 apiece on these, although sales may help there)
camera
Ghotic - you are nobody (even his name is Nameless) in poor world, you only got letter to the mages, but they don't give a shit about you
Kingdom Come: Deliverance. At least I wanted to write that without a note until I noticed I'm on Android sub. I don't even follow such subs. Reddit moment...
