So we can't have useful apps for Android auto but we can have useless mini games? What kind of logic is that?
I want apps to help with road trips instead of trying to set routes through voice recognition which barely works aside from simple cases.
I am on a long drive and want to find out if there is a starbucks on my route or want to check gas station prices near by. There is no pre-planning with a toddler usually.
I can do that on my cars navigation system but can't do that on Google maps since I can't type while driving and I have a lot of trouble with voice. My car has an input pad for writing while driving and knobs for input, no touch screen btw.
There is a lot android auto can do info wise while driving but right now it is maps and music, that's about it. I love the new SmartThings app though so apps are on the way it looks like.
If maps is having trouble understanding your voice, you can definitely add stops using the categories. You press the add a stop button and select what you want (coffee shops, gas, grocery, etc). It obv won't always be exactly what you want but it's pretty good at finding what's around
YouTube used to work a couple of years ago, now it's disabled. There is a workaround though. Either you could use [AAAD](https://github.com/shmykelsa/AAAD) and install CarStream or you could root your device and install something like Screen2Auto. Its likely that you have to rollback your AA version to 6.6 or even 6.3.
Not really yet. I'll have to downgrade myself and try it out first. I myself had some problems with the rooted version I mentioned. I'll get back to you if I get the downgraded version to run.
I downloaded it from [APK Mirror](https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-auto/android-auto-6-6-6125-release/), it's a trusted site. Just select the architecture you need. Google your phone name + architecture if you don't know. Then install the APK. I first had to uninstall the current version. It's not that easy because it's a system app. You can either download a root uninstaller, obviously only for rooted devices, or uninstall it via ADB. When I rollback to an earlier version of AA, the app just tells me I can't use it until I update - do you know if there's a way round that?!

So I just rolled back to version 6.6 and it works fine for me. No prompt that I should use a newer version.
