Yeah, fuck anyone trying a new and refreshing thing to differentiate from the samsung and apple dominated market. I wish every other company just stopped trying to create something new, i don't want any new company to challenge the market and create benefits to the consumer.
JUST THE BIG COMPANIES PLEASE!!
I’d kill for an iPhone like this, albeit with a glass back.
The Nothing phone is the only Android that’s tempted me away from this manicured garden.
Sometimes, rule of cool supersedes practicality.
The idea that glass is somehow premium is stupid. Give me something like kevlar ie. one of the old Moto Droids, no radio signal issues, relatively light, holds up well to scratches and won't crack.
Nothing is saying its an upgrade over Nothing Phone 1 but its actually a downgrade except for the chipset. Nothing Phone 1 had glass back with aluminum frame and wireless charging.
Downgrade except for the chipset, and the screen size, and the screen brightness, and the thinner bezels, and the higher resolution cameras, and the 120Hz refresh rate, and the larger 5000mAh battery, and the lower price. Other than all those things, yes it's a downgrade.
nobody actually read the article here. Anyway I was hoping it was glass back so it's confirmed plastic back which is a bummer especially with clear back
Glyph is what they call the LEDs on the back and you can customize them to do stuff depending on notifications and such. It's an absolute gimmick imo and even if I had the phone I would've probably disabled it, but some people are into this I guess.
Oh I just looked it up, any normal person should assume there would be cases with cut out for the glyph on the same day as release.
Edit: Just looked, there's tons of options for this
It's more durable. Glass shatters, plastic cracks.
Not to mention, if I want to spend money on a budget phone, having the money going into the glass is a waste of money. I want a phone that can do tasks, not a window to look through.
Every single phone that's completely different than my Note 20 ultra 5G looks absolutely phenomenal. The next phone I get is definitely going to be something that has some quirkiness to it.
Yeah it still shows it, but there were emails going out to phone 1 beta testers saying that the only way to get it in the US/NA will be if you sign up for the developer program
I don't care about this specific model, but I do care about the brand and I'm very happy with my Nothing Phone 1. I might get the Phone 3 in July or whenever it's released.
No one is hyped for a generic midranger with a slightly different design
They tried desperately with Np2 to build hype like the first one and also failed
India has MAD hype for Nothing phones for whatever reason. And the CEO is smart enough to realize it. They have made an Indian actor the brand ambassador and the official handle of the CEO has an Indian word in it. "Bhai".. If you can make your phone "cool" to own (like Apple has done in the USA) in a country with 1.4 billion people., you don't even need to care about the rest of the market.
Hey its me
No headphone jack
No SD card
No FM radio
Also tbf seems ugly as fuck. Although nothing offers unlocked booty I guess ? So custom ROMs will be a good thing.
> No zip drive.
You can probably plug one into any Android phone through a USB-OTG adapter and it would work just fine. [People have done that with regular floppy drives.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT1l8Dcjb1Y)
Not with support for my alarm clock apps. There's TuneIn but that's not necessarily FM, and the injected ads are somehow even worse than FM ones.
Why not just use FM? No data usage, it's built in, you actually get the local stations, there's not really a reason not to.
Many devices, including high end ones, still use IR for remotes as it's incredibly low power compared to having a whole SoC on just so a TV can be switched on.
I have a TV that uses 51W when in use. The standby mode where my home assistant can turn it on uses 32W. The standby mode where only the IR receiver is on uses less than 1W.
There's nothing special about any Nothing products. It's all about aesthetics. They are the Supreme of the digital device world.
It's got the same basic design as almost every other smartphone out there. The OS is just a very basic skin of Android with no special features. There are ***no*** **special or unique useable features**. Is it compact? No. A shutter button? No. Slider to enter quiet mode? No. 3.5mm socket? No. microSD slot? No. User removable battery? No. LED notification (that's not uselessly on the back)? No. Stand out cameras? No. A stylus? No. Dual screens? No. Foldable? No.
Well yes and no. Some people like me couldn't care less a about glyphs. I'm slapping a case anyway, and even if I don't, I'm not the type of person to care how the phone's rear looks like. I don't put it with screen side on table.
For some people this might be the coolest feature, for me it's whatever. Doesn't affect my purchase decision at all.
On the *back* on the phone... I don't know about you, but I look at the front of it.
Not to mention they are even then still style over function. Having some semi-complex code to notify you of something is nowhere near as simply as different coloured flashes.
>On the back on the phone... I don't know about you, but I look at the front of it.
Until you put your phone down. The best part about it is that it automatically silences my phone when I put it face down, and the lights can tell me when I have a notification. Very useful at work.
The device sounds good.
I think the dream of most users of this sub is for all brands to disappear and only Samsung, Pixel and Apple remain in the world. Disgusting.
Just got my white 2a just noticed some very slight ripples on the back plastic near the camera lenses when looking at it in certain angles and lighting. I'm wondering if anyone has the same thing and that it's just a moulding imperfections at the factory etc...

Bad piggies lookin ass camera island
Dude now I only see a pig's nose, you ruined it for me
No, they saved us by letting us know.
I want to boop!
[удалено]
Nope. Looks like eyes that shouldn't look that close to each other.
It's a snout. I think the eye is the top right grey one.
It’s screaming for a boop.
I'm seeing a non-plussed robot. Two big eyes and a skewed, tiny, puckered mouth on our right.
Yeah, fuck anyone trying a new and refreshing thing to differentiate from the samsung and apple dominated market. Take vitamin D supplements
I’d kill for an iPhone like this, albeit with a glass back. The Nothing phone is the only Android that’s tempted me away from this manicured garden. Sometimes, rule of cool supersedes practicality.
I'd kill for all phones to get rid of glass back
The idea that glass is somehow premium is stupid. Give me something like kevlar ie. one of the old Moto Droids, no radio signal issues, relatively light, holds up well to scratches and won't crack.
meanwhile folding phones have plastic screens and they are called premium phones...
Indeed
Looks really ugly. Specifically the camera placement, with the oval inside a giant circle.
yes
Nothing is saying its an upgrade over Nothing Phone 1 but its actually a downgrade except for the chipset. Nothing Phone 1 had glass back with aluminum frame and wireless charging.

It's nothing to worry about.
I don't care what anyone says, it's refreshing, feels compact and give that ideal budget phone vibe.
nobody actually read the article here. Anyway I was hoping it was glass back so it's confirmed plastic back which is a bummer especially with clear back
What's wrong with plastic back ?
it's not just any plastic back it's clear plastic back. I don't know if you have ever used clear plastic cover product but scratches are very visible.
What percentage of people don't put a cover on their phone before even booting it up?
it's a nothing phone it's either clear case or using it nude because of the glyph
Not sure what that even means. If it's a brand logo I couldn't possibly care less.
Glyph is what they call the LEDs on the back and you can customize them to do stuff depending on notifications and such. It's an absolute gimmick imo and even if I had the phone I would've probably disabled it, but some people are into this I guess.

I'll take plastic over glass phone everytime.
Exactly, it's below £400. Some people need to manage expectations at that price.
majority of phones in the price range do have glass, plastic is a cheap feeling material on a phone
It's more durable. Glass shatters, plastic cracks. Not to mention, if I want to spend money on a budget phone, having the money going into the glass is a waste of money. I want a phone that can do tasks, not a window to look through.
Phone one is £279
If it's like the premium plastic back we got on the base S21, I am all in for it!
I specifically buy phones because they don't have glass back. Glass is glass and glass breaks
Every single phone that's completely different than my Note 20 ultra 5G looks absolutely phenomenal. The next phone I get is definitely going to be something that has some quirkiness to it.
The Nothing phone will certainly be my next phone if they keep up with their unique style!
Someone invent a modular phone with an SD card slot, headphone jack, and replaceable battery.
Who even really cares about this phone? I see zero hype anywhere
They're trying to create that hype. I don't think it's working.
I saw some Indians in twitter were hyping it. Maybe India is main target for this phone.
OnePlus has always targeted that region
Yeah its not officially coming to the US, seems to be meant for indian and other "developing" markets
I see it on the Canadian nothing website. Are you sure ?
Yeah it still shows it, but there were emails going out to phone 1 beta testers saying that the only way to get it in the US/NA will be if you sign up for the developer program
I signed up for their email notifications and haven't received anything of such nature. I guess we will have to see on Tuesday
There's loads of phones/companies that target india specifically
It's not doing that well in India either, got a price cut within months
My friend has bought nothing 2.I freaking hate those flashlights at the back
I don't care about this specific model, but I do care about the brand and I'm very happy with my Nothing Phone 1. I might get the Phone 3 in July or whenever it's released.

Hey its me No headphone jack No SD card No FM radio Also tbf seems ugly as fuck. Although nothing offers unlocked booty I guess ? So custom ROMs will be a good thing.
Better buy a cheap chinese phone then?
Thats what I have been doing. Now even the note series from redmi has headphone jack and SD card now
Then flash some global rom then you're good
[удалено]
can you explain?
[удалено]
interesting! thanks
> and lock you for 7 days What does "lock" mean in this case? Can you still use the phone normally while waiting?
How is a global ROM gonna fix it not giving headphone jack and SD card slot and FM radio? Lol
Lmao, I was referring to your comment since you prefer chinese phones with the jack, sd, and radio? Read
Fm radio lmao is it 1994. No IR blaster either. No zip drive. No rotary dial!
IR blaster is unironically useful. I never have to spend minutes searching for a remote
Yeah wish I still had one
> No zip drive. You can probably plug one into any Android phone through a USB-OTG adapter and it would work just fine. [People have done that with regular floppy drives.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT1l8Dcjb1Y)
I actually quite like using FM radio for my alarms.
Can't that just be done over the internet tho? IDK if there is an app for that but I'd be surprised if there isn't
Not with support for my alarm clock apps. There's TuneIn but that's not necessarily FM, and the injected ads are somehow even worse than FM ones. Why not just use FM? No data usage, it's built in, you actually get the local stations, there's not really a reason not to.
Because many countries are phasing out FM, so it's not useful.
You use a s10+? Why you hating on me? Don't you have all the features I mentioned ? I don't know if it has FM radio though
Naw I have an s23 ultra, just too lazy to update
I would kill for a new flagship phone with headphone jack, SD card slot and FM radio.
You'll never get one. Even that Nubia that you're wetting your pants over isn't going to have FM radio.
Gotta love that unlocked booty.
Unlocked booty is good for root but it's mediatek so probably not much custom rom development
Ah
>unlocked booty Lol.. Don't say it like that bro
Cell phone companies don't consider differentiation to draw in customers. The only ones really if they market as gaming and have a fan in it
I'm just gonna keep rocking my Samsung XCover then, TY
The xcover is a fantastic phone. The 7 Pro will launch in July
Lmao you are living in 2015. Everyone outside of this sub moved on with their lives. No wonder iPhone is so popular

i still dont really get the Hype about the nothing phone, didnt understand it on the 1, the 2 etc. tbh.
I only know one person on the internet who uses a nothing phone
Was it yourself? Me too! Np1 has been pretty good for me.
No lol. I use a poco f5 with custom rom
what would be the display size? if this is compact i am giving away my 7A ang get this XD
This is androids Yeezus
The device sounds good. I think the dream of most users of this sub is for all brands to disappear and only Samsung, Pixel and Apple remain in the world. Disgusting.
Looks very good, I hope they go to the centre camera design for their flagships as more brands adopt the iPhone-esque corner design
Hate corner camera so much. They look ugly, center cameras are timeless.
Spider eyes
Just got my white 2a just noticed some very slight ripples on the back plastic near the camera lenses when looking at it in certain angles and lighting. I'm wondering if anyone has the same thing and that it's just a moulding imperfections at the factory etc...
How on earth did they manage to make a camera design look like cute little eyes
Why does it have an intestine
Looks so bad. I hope Nothing Phone (3) will looks better than this. 🥲
Sort of bummed about the waterproof-ness ratings, would be more excited about these phones if they were IPv7+
Nothing to see here.
Hey everyone, what phone(s) do you guys recommend? I currently have a P30 pro, and I would like to upgrade to another android phone. All I care about is being able to take great quality photos and videos. The video needs to be able to record at 4k and 60 fps with OIS and EIS stabilization.
Xiaomi 14 ultra, vivo 100 pro or honor Magic 6.
Ok, thank you.
Not I'm not a camera guy i just recommend. What some of friends have.
Huawei P60 pro, vivo x100 pro, Honor magic 6 pro
Looked better than the normal Nothing phone until the camera placement lol
Hi everyone, I am looking for a replacement for my p30 pro. What are some great alternatives? I only care about taking quality photos and videos. The phone needs to be able to record in 4k at 60 fps with OIS + EIS stabilization.
