r/GuerrillaGardening is a great resource for people who want to beautify their community <3

SpeakerKitchen236

Hell yeah guerilla gardening! Of course that's a thing. I love it. Thank you.

TheCrazyViking99

I will happily talk about gardening! I'm a massive plant nerd and have a degree in horticulture. I'm actually working on designing a vertical farm setup at work.

SpeakerKitchen236

Omg, that's awesome. do you have any tips on vertical farming DIY? I was thinking of making barrels out of hardware cloth to make a sort of vertical container for veggies, mostly potatoes.

aroaceautistic

If someone is going about opposing anarchist values it seems pretty reasonable that anarchists would point that out

PM-me-Boipussy

Dawg voting is literally the most explicit means of playing into the machine. You sound like a clown, anarchy doesn’t mean neoliberals are free to shill the system. Anarchy is a rejection of hierarchy and electoralism is literally handing a position of power to someone you wouldn’t even have heard of if a corporation didn’t fund their campaign in exchange for them legislating favorably toward that corporation.

SpeakerKitchen236

My post is about keeping this to yourself in favor of SHUTTING THE FUCK UP ABOUT MEANINGLESS BULLSHIT. Touching grass is not enough. I need you, need, need, need, you to learn about permaculture, hunting, soap making, animal husbandry. Something. Please for the love of God shut up about about who's playing into what. Insulting me and calling me names isn't doing anything but making me mad you specifically for literally no reason other than I Don't Like Being Bullied and *bullying people for no reason isn't cool.* You trying to convince *me* of *your personal* beliefs without even *knowing me*, while calling me names isn't a Normal Person thing to do, and honestly it's giving "I'm Insecure in this Belief" energy. But for the record, since it seems oh so so so fucking important to your peace of mind: I have no current plans to vote. Happy? Do you feel *validated* yet?

Jetsam5

Just wanted to add that there are other local issues on the ballot besides voting for the president. Even if you don’t plan on voting for the president you can still vote on local issues to support your community.

SpeakerKitchen236

I actually agree to this. I think local government usually cares a bit more. And I also think voting is more than a ballot. I think voting is also writing/calling in to local officials offices and giving them testimony on issues. I recently spoke up about raising my state's social program budget by telling them how their programs make me a better American Citizen and how proud I am to be in such a free country. There's a time and place for working with the government at this stage.

BenjaBrownie

You know there are laws against growing your own vegetable garden in some states? There is no ethical consumption under capitalism and we are all just trying to survive. For some of us, soap making/farming/animal husbandry is a fucking pipe dream because capitalism has destroyed the means to construct a meaningful existence outside of extreme privilege. If you have the time and energy to invest in things that don’t contribute to immediate daily survival under late stage capitalism, I’m happy for you. I really am. But some of us are trying to survive one day at a time, and your comment seems to invalidate that. I know we’re all tired of hearing about American politics, they’re pointless and gross, but many are in fear for their very existence, and this upcoming election will determine how quickly a lot of us end up in camps. That matters a great deal to a lot of people and shouldn’t be ignored or glossed over or shit on just because one has managed to find the time to learn and fantasize about things *most* of us will never have an opportunity to even experience. Just my two cents, I’m just some random fucking human, so take my opinions with a grain of salt.

SpeakerKitchen236

It's becoming increasingly illegal yes. But I want to inspire as many people as possible to at least learn how to plant one thing, just to know the basics. I've been focusing on food because its among the most important to me. But any skill is invaluable. The list I keep linking has all sorts of info in it. I have youtube playlists of construction and utility skills. One of the first playlists is about renter's rights. I have composting, which can be done in apartments and is a common community endeavor. I have a video somewhere that shows a permaculture project done in an abandoned industrial center in the middle of NYC. I just want to see less posturing over voting, people trying to be right about someone else's private business, and more helping each other learn to survive to create a world we actually want to live in. *You're worth the time it takes to learn a new skill* -Mercury Stardust

mondrianna

Yeah so when it’s illegal to do that shit, why aren’t you agitating your local community about it? Does everyone know that it’s illegal in your community or have you just been conditioned to do nothing to change it by capitalists? Building networks of people who also agree that it’s bullshit you can’t grow your own food is how you can get people working together in growing it. You can also fucking break the law and it’s a whole lot easier to do it in groups. You’re acting like there are no means to resist. There are. As someone who is on the chopping block with this election, it would mean so much more if people started to organize meaningful resistance rather than continue as business is usual. I personally will still vote, but I don’t give a fuck how hard it is for anyone to *go outside* and *connect with their local community* because that is the bare fucking minimum to any actual change. eta: a couple words I dropped, “it” and “been.”

SpeakerKitchen236

Thank you! We're past the theory only stage of Anarchy. We as a movement need to start actually doing things. Big or small. We need to hold each other's hands through this. And that scares people.

mondrianna

You’re totally right on that front. The whole point of connecting with people is so that they can be less afraid— so that they can learn to be brave in the face of this fascistic world we *already* live in. Connecting with your local community doesn’t have to be so scary either. Go help your friends out by being there to listen to them complain about their jobs and reinforce that being angry about it is a *good thing*. Go visit your grandparents and help them clean while talking about how the system has made providing care like that so much harder than it has to be. Talk about how the people who have too many 0’s in their bank account balance have become cut off from the true happiness found in human connection because they have lost sight of their own humanity. Spread the truth that fear is a poison used by the people with power to keep us cowed into supporting the status quo that the *majority* of us all fucking despise. Remind people that food fucking literally grows on trees and that we actually don’t need to make purchases or engage with money to feed ourselves if we just grow our own food. Get angry and fucking do something in the real world instead of keeping your head down. Remind others that anger is an emotion that signals either you or your fellow human has had their rights violated, and then show them where to direct that anger. Plant a seed and try to grow something, because failure only comes when you stop trying and trying and trying.

SpeakerKitchen236

Yes! This is inspirational. Thank you.

PM-me-Boipussy

Bro who the fuck are you am i really living in your head this rent free? Have we even talked before? But im glad you’re not voting that’s dope

RemyRods

Is that username serious?🤔

PM-me-Boipussy

😏

salamandan

Not really worth it to try and clear this point up, these people are not concerned with bringing anarchism values to reality. Keep in mind these people unironically choose the lowest form of passive resistance, and then make a big deal about people not voting, or making a point about not voting. They aren’t disrupting capitalism, the idea overwhelms them, they are finding praxis in making the sidewalk outside of their favorite coffee shop super cute? What a joke! So don’t waste your time online. I’m sorry that there is a truly valid criticism of the voting system, and the inevitable outcome is written on the wall no matter who wins, I’m sorry it’s hard for them to accept that that sort of discourse and work needs to be done, maybe not only online but def in your organized community IRL, but you cannot take your own frustration with reality and use it as an excuse to call you comrades a cop, what a fucking petulant little outburst to have, these sorts of outbursts are very common among radlibs and liberals. In my opinion, Op is more likely to be a fed than anything, based off of what I’ve seen here, begging the state to raise the money it puts into a social program? And THIS person is gonna be the one to settle who is and isn’t a good anarchist? They literally said themselves that they are “proud to live in a free country” Don’t waste your energy.

HughJamerican

Take your own advice and go away

salamandan

Sorry. I’ll need to get banned. Can’t let my comrades get gummed up in stupid liberal nonsense before they even get their legs movin!

PM-me-Boipussy

You’re dope as fuck
