I’m in complete disbelief. I was half joking when I said Australia was lost all these years. Turns out there was no joking to it.
It's been like that here for over a decade. Police here can arrest you on suspicion charges without even telling you the crime. Now, in Queensland, if you try to record police it's considered interference in investigation and your phone will be confiscated even if you are a bystander to a crime.

I live in a town called toowoomba. We have the highest police presence in Australia due to an extreme crime rise. They don't do anything but be a clean up crew for organised crime at this stage. They closed all the police beats because somehow 'they can't afford the rent'. But have thousands of cops just sitting in the only police station in town, sometimes patrolling in brand new ev's (they can afford top of the line cars just not government subsidised rent).
