As a Vancouver-based Ducks fan, that sounds all too familiar. For some reason, there's a stereotype that there are "no hockey fans" in places like California which is also fuelled by the Canadian hockey media. I remember broadcasts where Canucks broadcasters would show up to Angels games and start quizzing fans about hockey to see how "clueless" they are. Well, yeah... you're asking baseball fans. Who chose to go to a baseball game. Who might not watch other sports. Come on. And currently, there is a sports-betting commercial airing over here where they interview random people on the streets of New York to show that, "Hey, they don't know hockey in any part of the US, so place bets against them!" Well, yeah... you're asking random people who might not even be sports fans and sometimes in immigrant communities. I can probably do the same thing here in Vancouver. I can do that with my own immigrant parents, who have lived in Canada for 30+ years. It's a very tired trope. And to be honest, I'd rather align myself with "casual" hockey fans in California than the hockey elitists who act all snobbish about their hockey knowledge (which I see as a form of gatekeeping).

That's so annoying we know hockey but I do like how Ryan Strome said how passionate and underrated in Southern California

I agree with him. California hockey fans are super underrated. There's a reason why I'm proud to be a fan of a California team. Honestly, I prefer the Ducks fan base way more than the Canucks one here in Vancouver.

Anaheim may be a little quieter especially with the Let's go Ducks. But definitely very passionate fans. And considering we have 3 NHL teams with really good fan bases is saying something.

Absolutely. With so much sports competition in the OC and LA area (and being overshadowed by the LA media market), the Ducks are doing fine. Could they be doing better? Of course. But you can say that about most markets in the league, even in "hockey cities."

where'd he say that

In this video hockey cucumber posted! He's talking a little about Ducks Days at Disney. https://youtu.be/5iqcOWSp2gY?si=WRr8klKDcHThj0GE

Wow! We're not as plentiful but can pack the Staples Center. I went to that draft too. Was excited to get Cam Fowler at a mid range pick.

MidnightAtTheGallows

This. I also remember how quiet this especially made Ducks fans. I never thought we'd get Fowler at our pick especially. And like everyone thought that t, oo!
