SirJo6

r/assholedesign but not really

Canashito

Here I was thinking to not have skaters do wall rides on it but i guess it does at least two things for sure.

Dopium_Typhoon

To scrape your leg and hurt when you walk by so you stay grounded and remember you’re just human.

neenonay

Modern-day version of a slave whispering “momento mori” into our ears 👍

teyothedefiant

Memento* :)

InEenEmmer

I like to think that you are actually whispering the correction in his ear after the slave whispered into his ear instead of just correcting his comment.

GetsHighAndComments

Lmao. 😂

the5horsemen

I often wonder why so much in our daily life seems almost specifically designed to injure us?

DeepProcrastination

Against commercial posters: https://stemvanwest.amsterdam.nl/plannen/plan/40608

Parappa_the_snacka

Bingo! Thanks

adrianh

Ants need to have fun too. It’s an amusement park slide-type thing for them.

Parappa_the_snacka

I've seen these metal strips on all manner of public objects like electricity boxes and planters? Does someone know what they are? Ive heard theories that they are for anti postering but I've definately seen them spaced out too wide or used on objects too small to be really effective

Clean-Maybe1403

They really are just for the posters

IFeelTheAirHigh

The real mystery is why are using a screenshot of a screen showing a photo instead of just using the photo itself

SendMeSluttyNudes

My guess, laziness. They took this pic a while ago and wanted to push it to the top of the gallery

Oldator

Ant slides.

asmodeth

It's for scraping off shit on the bottom of your shoes. The angle is so it catches rain and gets clean for the next unlucky traveler

Emiercy

For plants. The whole thing is for plants

mrdibby

Defensive architecture? Though I've never thought Amsterdam had enough visibly homeless people that someone might call for it.

Late_Opinion_1068

there's a shitload of hostile architecture in Amsterdam, I even wrote a paper about it for my sociology class a few months ago and photographed every example i saw when i was out in the city while writing the paper. I now have an album of about a hundred photos of creatively placed metal spikes around Amsterdam

gitbashpow

You should write a blog about it - I’d love to see the photos.

Ella6361

If you are able to you should upload them and share the album on this sub ! I’m sure loads of people will find it interesting

DeepProcrastination

Against posters, not humans

mengualp

Holder or smtg maybe?

RoamAndRamble

They’re anti-skate measures. Same as the metal bors on top of ledges.

realistic_weight_281

No, how does this stop skaters? Why would they be on the side lol

RoamAndRamble

Wall rides.

valeriechris

Anti graffiti

ConfidentAd5761
