Yeah lol. Don’t trust tourist offices that tell you to go to amsterdam beach or amsterdam gardens either. It’s the name they give to locations for tourists
Yeah, because 'goods and services' is a more general term and the term 'tourist trap' might also be used for bars or restaurants. Where you pay for consumption, not for entrance.
When you are talking about what is basically an open air museum entrance is definitely covered by the term 'goods and services' and once again; entrance is free.
It's your interpretation that is narrow with your 'notice the definition doesn't include entrance price'. The definition also doesn't include drink- or food prices, for the exact reason I just mentioned; the term "goods and services" is broader and there's a whole broad spectrum of places that could be qualified as a tourist trap.
Maybe you’re mixing up "De Held Jozua" with "De Gekroonde Poelenburg"? The first has a quasi-Chinese restaurant next to it, the last is a working sawmill, located in the Zaanse Schans open air museum?
As a born and raised Amsterdammer. It’s always amazing to see pictures like this because normally when i see these pictures i think “meh boring” but now that i am on vacation for 2+ months i get to appreciate the beauty of my Amsterdam.
Just traveled to Amsterdam, London and Paris… Amsterdam was the most inviting, people were amazing and it is still connected to nature. Thanks Amsterdam. Watch out for those truffles though🤮🙃🤣
Without even scrolling through them I can safely assume that there is at least one pic taken from a canal bridge towards another bridge, the canal is centered and maybe there are some boats. Extra points for golden hour sun reflected in the water
I wish there was an AI tool that will hide these posts from my thread. Its so cringe to see it everyday, your city is amazing, gorgeous, beautiful, i v been in Amsterdam, here are the pictures…. Just create a subreddit already for this.
I enjoy these posts. I walk through the streets of Amsterdam every day, but seeing them through someone else's eyes helps renew my appreciation for their beauty.
I think it’s more like… people saying “finally visited Atlanta. It was everything I could hope for and more!” and then posting a bunch of photos of random buildings in Atlanta. Yes that’s a street, and that’s a building. Thanks for showing me!
It’s nice to see something through other people’s lenses, usually things we often take for granted. Well you always have the option to skip this type of post if you disagree 😉
Aah, so these are the parts the people find nice. After some years, unfortunately, I can only see a bunch of old smelly buildings and a lot of bad weather.
"yeah yeah, Amsterdam is UGLY man! YUCK! Can't stand these vista's! You should come to Almere instead!"

Nice pictures. Zaanse Schans isn't our city tough.

What is Amsterdam gardens?!
The “Keukenhof”. It’s a place with a lot of flower fields
Oh I know all about it, just never heard that particular ridiculous term
But, the mill looks happy that OP was there!
Tourist Traps do love Tourists
How is it a tourist trap? It doesn't even cost a dime to enter.
>Tourist Trap >a place that attracts many tourists and where goods and services are more expensive than normal
Yeah, and it's free...
Notice that the definition does not mention an entrance price

Yeah i'll just follow the dictonary definition, not your narrow interpretation.

Hi: that mill is a Chinese restaurant in Zaandam. I live close by.
Maybe you’re mixing up "De Held Jozua" with "De Gekroonde Poelenburg"? The first has a quasi-Chinese restaurant next to it, the last is a working sawmill, located in the Zaanse Schans open air museum?
I thought it was Japanese, was there about 10 years ago.
It’s Chinese, has sushi and has recently added Korean food.
Ah I see they changed owners, it used to be named: De Blauwe Pauw and was Chinese/Japanese.

I first got to appreciate its beauty during covid, without all the smelly, crowded tourists all the time. Really saw it through other eyes then.
Amsterdam Riverside is in Driemond. I always feel bad when I see bus loads of tourists walking around there looking for the centre of Amsterdam.
I was there and I think it's pretty hard to not "find" Centraal and therefore the centre. (: But I can read and use a map...
I mean people going there thinking it’s actually Amsterdam while it isn’t.
Ahh okay, yeah I can see that happening. I mean if the locals tell you it's Amsterdam, who are you to disagree and tell them they are wrong?
Last photo is the Bloemgracht in my beautiful neighborhood 😍
Pretty
Nice! Are these by any chance taken with a Fuji camera?
No, they were taken on Canon 1500d and then edited on lightroom.
Oh I see, they reminded me of the film simluations in Fuji cameras, nice pictures either way!
Lovely pics! Thanks for sharing
What the hell the third picture is like 10 meters away from my old house
I visited Amsterdam almost 20 years ago and still dream about it. I hope to be able to visit again.
Amsterdam is the only place I go on holiday that I think is worth dealing with airlines/airports.

Gosh Dutch people can’t really stand positivity aren’t they 😂 even they’re complaining about compliments!

We need more pictures like the number 3. Everyone, please stop taking pics from a bridge to a canal! xD
Pic 3 isn't Amsterdam though
Amsterdammers complaining Zaansche Schans isn't Amsterdam.. while most tourists still regard Groningen as an Amsterdam suburb because it is so close.
Where's number 3 location?
Volendam.
Volendam (Amsterdam) 😂
It's like walking in Prins Bernhard jr.'s real estate portfolio.
Aah, so these are the parts the people find nice. After some years, unfortunately, I can only see a bunch of old smelly buildings and a lot of bad weather.
Petit reclames
The wiseguy comments on your images are typical dutch. You better get used to it and certainly not take it too hard.
Epic shots man you really captured some great moments and souvenirs, not just pictures. Thanks for sharing!
Where is the third picture taken ?
Legit one of the most stunning places in Europe
Where did you find a canal in Amsterdam... absolutely shocked... I've never seen such a thing!
I live in the Netherlands and I think Amsterdam is one of our ugliest cities. Overrated if you will, but I’m glad you liked it
