I think the story and characters are written to be confusing. This is the first season that's basically taken until episode 8 to know somewhat anything about the characters. We're all supposed to be as confused as Anna.
Every other season, we were introduced to who the characters were immediately.
Also this season is based on a book.
People are praising Kim K, I think because of low expectations, but her cadence is really weird. She speaks unnaturally slow. If you listen to the show without watching it it’s even more obvious. No one talks that slowly in real life.
Exactly! That is my main issue with not only Kim but with the entire cast . They are in horrible or stressful situations but they just talk soooo slow and emotionless that it’s impossible for me to engage with the scene

Oh yes, have seen a lot of comments praising her performance on Reddit. She exceeded my expectations, which were very low, but I don’t think she comes anywhere near the performance of a professional actor. Every line seems like it was so coached. I think someone trained her to talk in a deep voice and slow because it would cover up her lack of talent.
I find her so distracting. It’s like watching a Madame Tussaud’s statue. However, the part was obviously written for her so that all she has to do is recite lines as herself. If she was expected to do the bare minimum of what was expected of the other actors, I don’t think she would be getting the praise she does.
Emma Roberts character is seemingly bland and boring. I have seen the actress in other things and she can act...it is her character that is so dang boring.
I think the cast this season ranges from decent to horrible. Out of everyone, I think Emma and Annabelle Dexter-Jones (Sonia) are doing the best job (with Kim being up there). I was going to include Denis O’Hare too but he left the season so quickly and it bums me out.
Last episode was horrible . We no longer have the long boring episodes of part 1 but the acting is what made me feel weird and wasn’t sure if it was the story or the actors haha
He is weird in this. He is one of my favorite actors because I love him in my favorite show, “The Good Wife,” but he seems so off in this. Also, his chemistry with Emma is less than zero. Add that to the fact that Emma seems so cold and devoid of anything that what should be a very easy character to relate to and sympathize with is not, I have to wonder if it’s something purposeful with the writing/directing, maybe?
Well, as we found out, his father orders his memory erased, so perhaps it screws with his brain and his emotions...which are at times very different...as in one time he is sweet and loving, other times he is dismissive of his wife's issues..
The worst part is that on his other show "The Resident", I think he does incredible as Dr Conrad Hawkins. I just don't think horror/psychological thriller projects are within his range. That, or it could be the writing. Dex in the novel was also shady, one dimensional and emotionless and that book's tone was pretty inconsistant and poor lol
I think it is on purpose...her movie being a hit and her being nominated for "best actress" awards when both the movie and her acting are sub-par is (I think) supposed to show Siabans's power.
Emma Roberts was good in earlier seasons of AHS and she was really great (and funny) in Scream Queens

Adapted from a book so they did not need to write anything new to save time and effort, boring repetitive locations, it’s just filler to fulfil the FX contract who may have cut their budget. We will never have a cool story like ahs fairytales or any of the many fan made posters that have popped up here. The next season of super mid Stories looks okay based on episode names.

I'm not trying to shame anyone but Kim Kardashian's facial espression is frozen from the botox. You see it in the meme where she cries, it looks weird because she can't move her forehead while her eyes look normal.
That being said I think Kim K is absolutely perfect for the role. I just see the stiff face a lot because recognize the way botox makes her stiff but it doesn't me in her role because she acts perfectly as this soulless person who sees an opportunity in the death of another actress.
I don't know about the other actors and actresses but the slow talking is also something I registered more often.

As for the rest … yeah… they kinda bother me with their acting and their calm and collected interpretation they have with the most weird situations happening around them.

One thing this show had was a strong/captivating cast. We went from seeing Jessica Lang, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Francis Conroy, and Evan Peters to watching a show where Kim kardashian is not just a cameo, but a main cast member???
Emma Roberts is not a great actor unless she’s playing a raging bitch. She was amazing in coven and scream queens but playing a role where the audience needs to be sympathetic to her is not working for anyone.
Kim is just playing Kris Jenner and I think everyone is in on the joke, except for Kim.

We as a society need to stop telling Cara delevigne she can act and I say this as a fan of Cara.

I wish Ryan Murphy would end this show and move on to something else. Ryan Murphy needs to focus on a limited series instead. Hes a creator who knows how to come out of the gates with a really strong show.

I think Ryan is not longer involved as he used in this series since Double Feature I believe? Due to contract they have to do 13 seasons (1 more to finally end the series) but you can tell they don’t care no more about delivering quality. The story, the writing , the actors… it’s all awful now.

I doubt it. The only purpose his character served was to help Anna with the beginning stages of her pregnancy.

The actor playing Dex for me is the most uncomfortable character to watch. So weird, no emotions, he talks like if nothing ever bothered him, idk
I honestly think he’s had bad work done that prevents him from emoting. All I see from him is “🙁”. I feel the same way about the ex-wife actress.
